Lydian mode/scale -- a major oversight! Great video, Gregor, but please pass along the lack of Lydian (hard to explain when all other major modes are included). The SQ is a great device, but I (like other commentators) find the sensitivity an occasional problem. Perhaps a quick description would help re: the "threshold" in setup, and what the settings do.

At 7:48 you can clearly see that he wants to play pads No. 8 and 7 and they simply do not respond. In fact, they should have fixed this issue 3 years later by adding customizable velocity curves. But then, aftersale support is expensive and what is sold is sold. One would think PreSonus is a company aiming at professional or at least semi-professional users, but apparently that's not the case.

Thanks for the demo. Would you say the ATOM SQ allows for a workflow without monitor (quasi DAW-less) to a reasonable amount, including the sequencer etc? I am trying to spend less time in front of a monitor. I could live with being plugged to the computer however. I just don't like looking at the screen all the time. My biggest issue with this controller is the shift button being on the farthest right of the controller while all the buttons you use with the shift are all the way on the left. So, instead of being able to do 1 handed shifts, I have to use two hands to do things with the shift button. Pretty dumb oversight for such an otherwise well engineered device...

Hello. I'm confused) I have an ATOM controller, it has 4 rotating Encoders, each has a number written under it (1/2/3/4) By default, number one jumps over my bands in the mixer. Encoder number two - changes the TEMP in the project. Number Three and Four are not busy. But how do I change these commands? How do I do it? I want to set Encodet # 3 to scroll by the timeline (so that the bar moves to the left / right according to my project. So that I do not press the "SHIFT" key + spin the mouse wheel every time. ) On encoder # 4, I want to set "TIME Zoom" - and quickly expand / narrow the window in the project. How to program it? Help me please. Thanks to.

Right?! The pads are kinda trash ngl....
@djIraScience3 жыл бұрын
@@arbogast4950 yes, it's really sad that they got 'everything right' except the ability to play the pads with any degree of sensitivity or dynamics -- and for those that think we are wrong, try it (for melodic passages and chords) -- feel free to let us know if you like the pads in keyboard mode (after you've had the SQ for a while).
@tenzi243 жыл бұрын

@thecompletejake3 жыл бұрын
To get them to trigger I have to hit my SQ pads as hard as I would if I caught them mugging my grandmother. Much harder than on my regular ATOM.
@djIraScience3 жыл бұрын
same here. but don't let Presonus know that, that's our secret (that you find out after shelling out 225 dollars). as a controller, there's a lot in SQ that's great. as a serious music making instrument -- let's see how many people here can do a recording without having to go back and adjust velocity (in midi editor) and remove all the un-intended double hits. i really lost a lot of respect for Presonus that they don't admit it or fix this. now that Gregor is doing a great job (as always) discussing the SQ, I hope more people wind up pushing Presonus to put a better algorithm in there for key sensitivity and filtering out double hits. i also wonder if all the pads have the same velocity response or not. you really have to hit those pads way too hard (in general) and it's difficult to get anything that sounds musical (keepers) to me.
@bonaventura_AKA_ben3 жыл бұрын
@@djIraScience presonus isn’t known for their responsiveness to customers.
