Sounds great. Have you worked with the Midas DP48 48-channel Personal Mixers? Or Midas HUB4 Monitor System Hub with 4 PoE Ports for Personal Mixers. While of course they cost more it seems like great add on to this type of environment.

Good sound, good group! How nice not to have to deal with wedges.
@Heywoodj1969 Жыл бұрын
I would have grabbed 2 house wedges and landed them on the front of the stage (l/r) and patched them for front fill in lieu of the eq hack job of the installed front fills...

Thank you for your video i also use m32 for me interesting how you use front fill i mean how you connect them separently or together with main?and what about side fill when should use side fill and how them connect ?
@billylaguardia2 жыл бұрын
The main PA, subs, and front fills are set up on matrices. You could also set up side fills on a matrix or an aux. I generally only spec side fills when artists are using pre-recorded tracks: I’ll only put the tracks in the side fills. I don’t really like them as they are more likely to cause feedback issues.

@@billylaguardia thank you to answer my question if you have time i asking you make video how do you use matrix?thanks

The M32C doesn’t have XLR Main Outs. Are you supposed to use the TRS monitor outs in the back?
@billylaguardia2 жыл бұрын
We are using a DL32 stage box. Outputs 13-16 on the DL handle L,R,Sub and front fill.

Hi! how do you pan those each channel on the stereo bus using an ipad app,.??
@billylaguardia2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon. I mix each channel in mono, with them panned center. The only thing that has panning are the FX which are hard right/left.

Can I make a suggestion? It's time to drop the "kick in channel 1... hi-hat in channel 2.." decades old logic. That came at a time when the mixer boards were so wide you needed an Uber to get from channel #1 to channel # 24 (of course Uber didn't exist yet). The idea was that usually the engineer spent most of his time on the far right side of the mixer so they put the drums in the lower channel because they didn't need to fiddle with them much. These days, as in this example, we have small digital mixer with LAYERS. I keep my drums on another layer and leave my first layer for the shtuff I need to mix all the time - like vocals, guitars, etc.. You see what you ended up with - vocals split amongst different layers! Everyone reading this that does sound listen to me - don't follow the old 70's habit! Think for yourself and get drums OUT of the low channels. And for haven't sake - you shouldn't start your sound checks with the drums anyway! Start with the mics and get them hot - any mics that will be on stage BEFORE the drums. Cause once you open the other mics the drums will bleed in anyway and sound different. Time to get into the 80's everyone! I guess I am going to have to do a video myself on doing line checks and sound checks. Just a thought...

Not a terrible suggestion. It's a constructive comment.

@@williamthesoundguybalestri1745 i agree 100% , been mixing for decades, ive done sound for pro touring acts as well as studio, my channels 1-8 are vocals , then guitars, keys, drums are last
@williamthesoundguybalestri17456 ай бұрын
@@guitarplayer5932 Excellent! Thats me as well... vocals... guitars... keys... other shtuff... then drum stuff. PLUS... on the drums they are in order of appearance. Since I am staring at the stage from Audience left-to-right perspective, say I start at 25, its 25 Floor, 26 Tom2, 27 Tom1, 28 Snare, 29, HHat then OVH L/R then Kick. But that's just me.

How do you like the M32 vs the Prosonus ?
@billylaguardia2 жыл бұрын
For live sound, the M32 wins. The GUI is way better and easier to use. That may be a bit biased though, I have way more time on the M32. I bought the Presonus for its 2U size (4U total for the M32C w/the DL32) and AVB. That being said, I mixed a tour of club dates on the StudioLive with it handling ear mixes and FOH and got along just fine. Hope this helps! Happy to chat further if you have specific questions.

Just turn stuff down instead of hacking the EQ to pieces. Yikes! 😮 The gains and the speaker amps, I mean.

Wow! Your EQ's are squashing the entire sound! There is almost nothing alive any more! Maybe your volume is too high?? That's just crazy!!
@anthonythegamingboi7061 Жыл бұрын
were you there? how did it sound?
@andreasolander2325 Жыл бұрын
with that amount of EQ on PA speakers you should just have turned the Speakers Down, its basic the same thing you are doing but on top of volume change you all so introduce phase shifting. Less is more when "tuning your PA to the room"
@billylaguardia Жыл бұрын
I run my shows between 85 and 90 db on average. What happens when the amount of microphones on stage in relation to the PA placement only allows me to run a show at say 65 db? The venue in the video is a bowling alley with a line array next to a wall with front fills pointing down at the vocalists. We as sound humans have to deal with the venue of the day in any way we can to make the show happen. Thats what I had to do that day.

world famous live engineer dave natale ( rolling stones, prince,van halen,jeff beck ,motley crue, tina turner, fleetwood mac etc etc etc) , runs mono, no effects, no compression , maybe a bit on vocals if needed, dont overthink this stuff, this guy does more to a live mix than most guys do in a studio its ridiculous i have never seen anyone mix like this 😮

Agree. Turn down the amps. All he is doing is turning everything down. I wonder how his channel EQ is setup.
