Mixing Analog Pedals With Digital Plugins - The Best of Both Worlds!

I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase (currently Cubase 12).
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

Thanks Antony, you've read my mind. The boss compressor with my 2002 Strat is every bit the miracle worker he claims. It reduces the graininess from digital distortion too. And with my other (all Boss, I was a 90s pedal buyer) distortion boxes it makes them sing. Try the Hyper Fuzz with it and tell a friend to remind you to come up for air. The CS 2 should come with every Strat. Tip top video

Nice tones , the pedal 100% sounds much nicer than the sim version . How do you route it in Cubase , do you have to run it thru amp sims etc ?

Yes, the analog signal that comes in goes straight into Amplitube (or Bias FX), where the virtual amp lives. It's just so much easier than using my Fender Twin, which would require an additional loopback if I wanted to do it properly

Oh, nice!! In the early 90’s I had just two pedals: a very very cheap (and noisy) flanger, first thing I purchased with my own money, and that OD2. I loved and still love this one. With the combination of both I tried to emulate all sounds of songs we played with our band, including Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, some hard rock, blues, and so on. I still have both with me, but the flanger is kept just as a good memory of good times. Those were my only two pedals for decades, until in 2021 I was done with emulations and started to build a pedalboard. At the beginning I planned to have four or five pedals, but today I am in the second pedalboard. Glad to see you use and like that old beautiful Turbo Overdrive. Man, what for memories, haha.

I found Amplitube to be useless for overdrive sounds as well. I have not used my version in years.

There is some awesome stuff in Amplitube - the Univibe emulation for example is awesome, but, yeah... sad but true on the OD front.
