The absolutely most crucial step is at 25:37. I’m a huge advocate for this part of the mixing process.

I assume if one does not have parallax or the dark glass, you could render the DI, low gain, and high gain tones. Then apply the similar EQ and compression? Instead of the stereo chorus could one use the width knob in djinn bass as well?

I'm curious, isn't Parallax an all in one so you don't have to split it up in 3 tracks?
@SystematicProductions
@SystematicProductions 4 жыл бұрын
It is, but we split it anyway because we're awesome.
@XiyuYang
@XiyuYang 4 жыл бұрын
Splitting gives you more flexibility, parallax is awesome but there's no one size fits all solution to every mix you work on, also, we're awesome.

Alright. So I’m having some issues maybe you can give insight if you’re willing to. I have it downloaded but for some reason don’t know how to open it in conjunction with FL or Reaper.. do I have to create a note pattern using a stock bass sound then use that as like uh.. shit idk how to say it.. like a filter? I use Fortin and can get that down easily but I can’t figure out how to get Djinnbass or perfect drums working.. it’s there, but doesn’t show up in my DAW..
@Stig69
@Stig69 4 жыл бұрын
You have Kontakt, right? It should work in the free player. You'll add Kontakt to your session as an instrument track (like how you would add most drum software, piano vsts, or whatever), and then you just use the file explorer in the left pane of Kontakt to find Djinnbass and open the NKI file.

Would people use chorus as a send effect on distorted guitars to make them wider as well? Is it a commom used trick? Thanks.
@SystematicProductions
@SystematicProductions 4 жыл бұрын
Mostly just lead guitars or solos. That said, the rock guys in the 90s and 00s did use all kinds of 'widening' tricks on their rhythm guitars.

Hi Ermin! Great video as always! Question: Any reason behind using linear phase instead of natural phase for the HP/LP? If the transient contains a lot of low frequency wouldn't linear phase introduce pre-ringing?
@SystematicProductions
@SystematicProductions 4 жыл бұрын
I find that the better trade-off when facing two filters causing massive phase shift with one another. So long as you don't filter too steeply, it should be fine.
@XiyuYang
@XiyuYang 4 жыл бұрын
Systematic Productions Thank you! I usually stick to either 12 or 18 dB/Octave too, rarely 24 and almost never steeper.

I think he wanted it like that... i personally felt that he could have sent it a little more through the soothe plugin. A little more lo mids on parallax and remove the extra sharp high end cuts on the eq. I believe it would've sounded massive. Djinnbass in my opinion has the capacity to deliver an extreme bass tone...he just didnt go for it.
