Have recently been listening to a friend playing video games using the accessibility features which involves not only fantastic sound track music, but all the other interactive and added ambient soundscapes along with all the characters speaking and narrative plus menu access voices. It's amazing with some of the games. Not only do they become playable by blindies like myself but are pleasurable to hear like an interactive movie saga.

I work as a Dub Stage Mix Technician at a couple of the major motion picture studios in LA. I feel there needs to be more interviews from professionals talking about our world of sound for Film/TV, but not just interviewing mixers. You should try to interview Mix Technicians, Dialog editors, FX editors, Music editors, Supervising Sound Editors, ADR & Foley Recordists…even M&E mixers and people in Digital Mastering…so many jobs that are a mystery to many in the outside world. As a Mix Tech, we have one of the hardest jobs…we’re the first one in and last one out…we’re “running the room” so to speak, and are there all day long to build/route Pro Tools sessions, setup the console, trouble shoot, transfer/shuffle/deliver files, organize, interacting with clients, etc etc. Another thing people don’t know is that many of us in this industry are musicians or have toured as a musician or roadie before transitioning into Post Production. So you’ll feel at home if you’re a musician. Side note…I know Jason from over 20 yrs ago when our bands used to play local shows together around LA. Small world, lol. Anyways, I hope you interview more people in our world in hopes that it will inspire others to want to work in sound for Film/TV, cause it can also lead to being a Music Editor, Composers Assistant, Film Score Mixer if you’re a musician that wants to do something involving music but don’t want to grind it out working in a music studio.

Also interesting mixing a live musical score, like the newer Sweeney. Musicals were my wheelhouse for such a long time. This the first time I've considered the mixing of those recordings.

What a great interview! Thanks so much for doing this one about the gaming industry music. Since we have been working with Unreal, it has been really neat getting to learn about Unreal's Metasounds and how runtime procedurally generated audio has been being integrated into games. Such a fascinating aspect of audio production.
