Saved this video years ago to my YT "low-end production" folder when I was just starting out, and now Im returning years later with way more patience and a willingness to apply ALL the steps (like taking the time to carve out the vol shaper properly, instead of just slapping on Kickstart). After all these years I now fully appreciate the importance of proper low-end mixing AND groove as the foundation for any great song. Thanks for all the awesome tutorials over the years!

Big Z, can you do a tutorial on how to make bass notes in a mix/master heard on small phone or laptop speakers? Often they disappear on those devices for some tracks, but not for others.
@Vwrrwvu5 жыл бұрын
Saturation/subtle fm on sub bass can go a long way. The added harmonics affect our brain in such a way that the brain sort of "fills in" the missing fundamental frequency and allows us to distinguish bass pitch despite not actually hearing the fundamental frequency of the bass.
@OfficialStevenCravis5 жыл бұрын
@@Vwrrwvu Thank you so much.
@OfficialStevenCravis5 жыл бұрын
@@Vwrrwvu by any chance would know one of Logic Pro X's own included effects that = saturation, or, for example, if I'm using sub bass from Omnisphere, should I use Omnisphere's own saturation effect?
@Vwrrwvu5 жыл бұрын
@@OfficialStevenCravis you could. Basically any distortion plugin that doesnt outright destroy the signal is probably capable of subtle saturation, so logic's phat fx etc should be able to do that (not a logic user myself though). Lots of free/cheap ones around though, including softube's free saturation knob and (if my memory of it being free isnt completely wrong) Melda's MSaturator/MWaveshaper. So just about any decent distortion effect will do as long as its character isnt too harsh. Youll find the ones you like by trying em out, i guess!

Hi Big Z. I can't say that I am able to apply the knowledge from this video simply because I don't have same plugins as You. I am not sure if I understood well but You suggest something like for instance cut a freq range 30 to 100 Hz from the original track then make a copy of that track with only that freq range and then subchain that track where the controlling signal will come from the kick ? Best Regards
