Here`s a vocal chain that I`ve built using Waves plugins that you can use to achieve a modern trap vocals sound.
With this vocal chain you will have a starting point to achieve the modern sound that you know from popular artists like DaBaby, Rody Rich or Lil Uzi Vert.
Get the vocal chain here : bit.ly/2proMod...
The chain is free for all the GOLD MEMBERS but you can get it for free using the code "2PRO100FREE" ( free for the first 100 downloads ).

Hello 2 pro beats. Just realised after doing this tutorial that i used all plugins in mono. And you use them in stereo. Is the difference between mono and stereo plugins huge? Or can i also use the mono plugins too achieve the same sound? I am just recording with on mic. So the Input SIgnal is Mono. And what is the generel difference between Stereo and Mono Plugins? Thanks for the great work you doing on this channel for us!!! :)

ye ive never seen that much compression in my life, but here it seemed to work. So would you use that amount of compression on any vocal that comes your way or does it vary? cleary do a great job at cleaning it up after that huge compression which obviously takes a fair amount of skill, predi interesting. also cool song
@2probeats
@2probeats 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I have to over-do-it for the sake of the video so I have an obvious effect that can be heard on YT. But it happens from time to time to use lots of compression. It`s not about the compression per say, it`s mostly about the tone, texture and character of the vocals. This is a popular sound at the moment. Cheers

To much compression. You’re losing so many transients that are in the natural tone vocal that it’s forcing you to add frequencies that we’re already there you just over compressed. You couldn’t have gotten similar results by compressing and then lowering the vocal to sit in the mix with out bringing harshness out 🤝

@@2probeats yes of course but in this case you did bold moves and went in aiming for a certain vocal sound but ending up disconnecting it to the track. If you are going for that expensive mid range trap vocalsound, you can use a preamp emulation because that's where this type of crunch comes from. Try cranking it on a parallel chain.

start a NEW WAVE . that which being ... Dude , let go of the whole only cheap plugins concept . Or get realistic with it , and make dual videos . (cheap vs ""normal"") . yes you should condone less money for better mixing , but think about the content , if your making it , make it . don't just make ring pops candy's . If your'e going to make cheap , but obviously not give away expensive . Atleast add a midpoint concept for content sake . So that you don't sound like every other youtube prod adding autotune to "The Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round" .

I think that you don’t follow me for a long time. When I breakdown my mixes or when I do tutorials I showcase exactly what I use and how. When I am releasing something that I want people to download/enjoy/use I must use the most popular plugins that a lot of people have ( the only plugins I would change in this chain in a normal mixing situation is f6 with pro-q3 and sslchannel with bx_console E4000). I really don’t understand why you feel this way and I think you’ve missed the entire idea behind the video. Cheers

For some reason all your vocals sound too thin man... You are rolling off too much low mid range. You are getting ripped off from all the energy on the vocal, the final result is nice but it needs more body on that spectrum. Spanish triying to write in English. You need to get back all the body on that vocal, a good vocal chain respect the true voice nature from the singer though.
@2probeats
@2probeats 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks for the comment! I understand exactly what you`re trying to say but you have to consider the genre. If you want to sound "modern" you need to follow the trend. Most of nowadays trap music have the vocals sounding thin, it`s a creative decision on my part. Cheers
@christophpetersart3803
@christophpetersart3803 3 жыл бұрын
@@2probeats I totally got you, but... There are a lot of songs from trap where you can find a modern mix, and they respect that range nicely at the same time ... For example the guy who mixed Pop Smoke... (rip) actually respected the nature from his voice, super trendy and actual... Same for Travis Scott tracks.... The most relevant example of this is the track called " Hoy cobre" by Bad Bunny, where the vocal is super tight and solid... Josh Gudwin ( the man) mixed that song like a champ, and you can hear that vocal cutting through the mix like a damn Canon..
@christophpetersart3803
@christophpetersart3803 3 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to keep those freq on the vocal I think you should try to boost that spectrum on another elements so they can " hold" the vocal and give the illusion of a fat signal... I think that tight and solid mid low vocals comes from singing on that C800G, a mic which is super bright and full of body on the 250/500 Hz spectrum
@2probeats
@2probeats 3 жыл бұрын
@@christophpetersart3803 I prefer cuting the mids/lows rather than boost the top end. I essence is the same thing because you keep the ratio between lows/highs the same BUT with boosting you also add the character of the eq and bring out some harshness.
