first, goat rope garage i have learned all my tuning from you and i thank you. my problem lies here. i have a heads and cam ls1 m6 that was original tuned off narrow bands once i got my wide band and hp tuners i began working, but before adjusting the car was lean everywhere before power enrichment was enable. i spent hours tuning the VE and MAF tables correctly. everything was flawless the AFR was practically perfect. once i enabled closed loop the LTFT was -10 at idle and taking away fuel until power enrichment was enabled. but in wot it is perfect all fuel trims drop to zero. but this is my problem. with open loop forced enabled the AFR is great all across the board but once i enable closed loop the long term fuel trims lean out my motor. i am beginning to think the slightly aggresive cam is throwing off the narrowbands. so is there anyway to adjust the narrow band stoich or should i just run open loop all the time with dynamic airflow?

Good video.....never thought about volume vs weight when mixing a lighter alcohol with heavier water! What does Snow recommend....50/50 w/w or 50/50 v/v ? I don't have a scale, so if Methanol weighs @ 6 lbs per gallon and Water weighs @ 8 lbs per gallon....using just volume to mix it.... 4 gallons of methanol with 3 gallons of water equals @ 50:50 by weight.

Running 100% methanol is not only dangerous but also reduces the benefits of the cooling effect on the intake air charge. Methanol burns with a practically invisible flame and at concentrations above 50% it becomes flammable.

@@davisrs1 yeah I was looking at methanol for heating I get engines will have compression lowering the flash point. I tried water mixes to increase the burn time with flames and found 1:2 H2O / meth smaller flame same burn time and 2:1 burns for ages but no heat.
@davisrs12 жыл бұрын
@@salaciouscreations4323 Yup! for your purposes, only the methanol is fuel. The water can be a carrier, but the high heat of vaporization cools the flame to the extent that it vaporizes. We want to cool that gasoline flame and create extra vapor to push the pistons in an engine.
@salaciouscreations43232 жыл бұрын
@@davisrs1 thank you for taking the time to reply. And in a way I understand. With the cooler burn the engines max temp isn't reached sort of like undervolting a pc to get a higher clock speed as it can turbo further than stock as more thermal head room to wiggle in.

@GoatRopeGarage4 жыл бұрын

@ssoffshore51114 жыл бұрын
I've played with mixes over the last 10 or more years. Straight meth works best. It is much more combustible but it's no longer flammable once diluted with 50% water or more. For that reason, I always run straight meth in my SC vette and TT Viper, but use a dedicated small fuel cell in the cars for safety.
@GoatRopeGarage4 жыл бұрын
Good idea on the fuel cell
@Irtofu4 жыл бұрын
You do know your ratio is not 50/50 right? If you taken a basic chemistry class, you would know the density of water and methanol are not the same. Poor method equaling out the two parts.
@GoatRopeGarage4 жыл бұрын
That's why we do it be weight... We want a 50/50 blend based off weight, which is determined by the specific gravity of the product.
@BMWHOBO3 жыл бұрын
@@GoatRopeGarage I was questioning the same thing as the original post. You added 2lbs 11oz of meth and then 2lbs 11oz of water (unless i missed something), i don't believe that's 50/50 by weight. 50/50 by weight for 1 gallon would be 56.5oz of water and 71.5oz of meth, if my calculations are correct based off of other information sources. EDIT: Having listened to several parts of the video again, i think possibly you are shooting for a higher methanol content than 50/50. Which would explain why you used equal weight water and methanol.
