Summarized 10 Points From Video 1. Use of Reverb and Delay: Different reverb types (RVerb, spring reverb) are used to shape the sound's character. Reverb with long decay times creates a wash effect, heavy in sound design. Delays, set to 100% wet with 10-second reverb times, create an extended decay, further washing out the sound. 2. Editing and Crossfades: Clean editing is achieved using crossfades to smooth out transitions. The process involves selecting areas for editing (using Apple F) and applying crossfades to create seamless edits. This technique ensures that the mix doesn't have abrupt or noticeable changes. 3. Sound Shaping and Mixing Techniques: Sound shaping uses tools like Valhalla and Seventh Heaven reverbs for different textures. The balance in the mix is managed by adjusting the levels of different elements, ensuring that no single element overshadows the others. 4. Creating Spatial Effects: Spatial effects are achieved through modulation and filters, creating a sense of movement. Techniques like a left-right pulse are used to play with the sound's placement in the stereo field. High and low frequencies are rolled off to focus and define the sound better within the mix. 5. Use of a Doubler: A doubler is used to add a chorus-like effect, making elements like vocals more present and fuller in the mix. This effect creates a sense of width and depth, enhancing the listener's experience. 6. Depth and Discovery in Mixes: The mix is crafted to allow depth perception through the use of spatial effects and volume levels. A well-mixed track enables listeners to discover new elements or textures when listening on different devices or mediums. 7. EQ and Compression Techniques: EQ is applied to brighten the sound or reduce muddiness, creating a cleaner mix. Compression brings certain elements forward, adding to the dynamic feel of the mix. These tools are used to balance and enhance the overall sound. 8. Distortion and Saturation: Strategic use of distortion adds excitement and creates new frequencies or overtones. Saturation is used subtly to help parts of the mix stand out and adds definition to the sound. 9. Layering and Panning for Width: Layering different sounds and panning them across the stereo field creates a sense of width. This technique is used to enhance the spatial quality of the mix and to differentiate elements. 10. Final Touches and Automation: Final adjustments include automating elements like filters and volume to refine the mix. Automation is used for creative effects, such as creating pulses or movement within the track. These final touches ensure that each element sits well in the mix, contributing to the overall sound.

I like routing synths through guitar amp and mic sim plugins. Pretty nifty results.

Thanks for nice insight into that, what do you think about using on drums instead of compressors some magneto-style tape saturation plugin? It is more present and analog sounding in my case.

Why is the synth track out of sync with everything else in the first example?
@AndyA123411 ай бұрын
I thought it was just me. Unless that's the desired effect. Some of the examples sound out of time. Like the drums are lagging.

Definitely agree, seems like a strange choice (if intentional)

I would suggest watching again! He talks about it very specifically, about how it feels out of time and the reverb and delay he adds to make it feel better in the mix.

"Make it POP" and "Game CHANGER", all titles that, to me, flag content as 'do not watch'. Sorry to be critical, I DO love your videos!
@AndyA123411 ай бұрын
I agree. Sounds like click-bait terminology. I assume the core audience are musicians (I'm a bassist, primarily) and people interested in engineering, production & mastering. I'm a subscriber and would like it if there was a better description of the content in the description drop-down.,

What do you think the title should be?
@Zdrewe11 ай бұрын
It’s sad but titles like those are necessary these days. Every single video is an investment of time, money and effort so baiting the clicks are one of few ways to not let this go to waste. It also helps to be discovered by larger/new audiences

Hi Bob, not sure what you mean? We do occasionally use terms that people will gravitate to
