That's the reason I never left analog recording. I love to turn the buttons, use the faders, increase volume and punch in/out and level the eq and effect. The board make it that much more fun to do. Since 1979 I love mixing on the board as a young Deejay/ Recording Engineer. I'm 54 about to turn 55 in February. I just couldn't turn My back on the console mixer and hardware equipment Amen? Right on. Happy to see you expanding the possibilities. But, if you're routing to the TASCAM via USB, ain't that gunna be digital? I guess it's digital in the MPC, anyway, right. So, maybe no loss there.

Right is all digital anyway. But when I mix it will run the analog eqs and compression.

@kubadogoory82882 ай бұрын
I had Model 12, Soundcraft MTK and I’m currently owning Big Six paired with MPC Live2, and for my ears feeding internal converters via usb @ 44100 hz it’s a poor sound experience comparing to trs connection to the mixer. In my opinion TRS cable connection (I use Neutrik plugs and sommer sc cables - all own made) sounds much better and mix better. Is worth mentioning that MPC Live has 4 outputs with lower THD (3-6) and two main ones are more noisy. MPC X got first two pairs noisy ones 0,6 thd and second two pairs of cleaner ones 0,1 thd, so theoretically more dynamics is available on last pairs of outputs. I wonder if anyone has similar conclusions about MPC connected to any class compliant sound interface via USB ?
@Vibration_Transmission2 ай бұрын
That explains another vid I watched showing the main outs had some sort of squashed limited signal and the usb had a more dynamic signal, I also just read you can run the usb and try outs simultaneously, so plenty of options! I can’t wait to ditch my 2500

@thedreamshifts73442 ай бұрын
@@mpchead No I mean recording single or stereo channels to the computer does it record fade ins and fade outs, would be interested to know the same for recording to sd now you mention it, on my mtk22 recording is pre fader and pre eq which is proper annoying!

Can you record from MPC into the Tascam 2400 multi-track recorder with only USB cable? I was thinking of getting the 2400 to get around the 8 audio track limit of the MPC. Instead of recording to the MPC, you could record to 2400 and have 24 channels.
@mpchead2 ай бұрын
I haven't tried it yet but I think you can.
@mr.DorianJames2 ай бұрын
@mpchead I believe KZbinr, tefty&meens said you could do that with the model 12 but I'm not sure if the other models can do that if they're analog

So what’s the benefit of the mixer with MPC
@mpchead2 ай бұрын
Extra routing, mixing analog (if that is something you want) more outputs, it becomes the interface for the mpc, if you have external gear it can be used with the mixer, summing box...
@TheNextExit2 ай бұрын
Lol i thought it was model 24. Had to be a new one.
@gwsound2 ай бұрын
How do you like the converters? I noticed that the kick is a bit dull when you record from it.
@mpchead2 ай бұрын
I didn't notice that but is too soon to say, this is the first time I ran sounds through it. Might be best to have an individual channel just for the kick. But will definitely look into that.
@gwsound2 ай бұрын
@ I noticed the issue with the 12 and 24. The 2400 has the same converters as the 24. When I have my drum computer playing and then record it with the 24 it looses punch.

So lame you can’t use the eqs when using the interface. This is what stopped me from getting this set up.
@mpchead2 ай бұрын
@@chrisharrison809 but remember you can route the input to another channel on the mixer. I can have an input of channel 1 be routed to channel 9 by using the internal routing of the mpc. But yes I understand that it has its limitations. A board without does limitations would be maybe a 32 channel and up.
@chrisharrison8092 ай бұрын
@ just having that many faders and mutes is awesome. One thing I saw was that the Tasman model 16 registers every knob as midi so then you could set up your eq compressor etc to each and use a daw. Still funny that the convenience of consoles is eq and comp per channel etc and no one has found an elegant way to bring that to the digital world with a controller or a hardware unit. Without having to go large format console. Another option would be just put a 32 channel output box that does usb on the outputs on the mpc and just wire those in and run that to the console. Then you’d just have a good ole hardware console. Still kind of a pain though.
