Imo iori is closer to izou from fgo than shirou . He is pretty much a murder ( even if he will probably only kill fighter and not random people ) but close his murderous feeling and try to be a normal person ... even his master know it that's why he say he was born in the wrong era ...

Iori is indeed overwhelm enemies with his skill but it’s not even close to survive in any situations. No matter how skilled he was. There’s always an opponent can crush him with cruel methods. Resources is more important than skills to save someone or kill someone. His pride as a swordsman was his weakness.

Fun fact. First Iori was a one of servant candidate that teco choose to present them to Typemoon about their new game. Then Nasu saw Iori name and was like “Hey we got musashi student here. Let’s make him protagonist of new game” and then we have Samurai remnant

I feel like i've seen a lot of people downplaying Iori's feats in this game. Sure him beating Musashi and nearly beating the final boss of the true ending solo could be seen as both parties holding back against him, but when he SPOILERS went into saber's mind thing he fought against them under their trance and would have no reason nor will to hold back against him at that point. Granted, Saber didn't use their NP, but other than that he was fighting a servant that was genuinely out to kill him. Even if they ended the fight without a clear victor, the fact that he lasted that long against Saber in that state shows how strong he is.

@@thomasthecoolkid7228 and not only that,in the final fight,saber without using kusanagi, basically pulled a mutual kill to stop him. Few things could fight a servant. Even fewer that can win. The fact it took a Saber servant even without there a mutual kill to stop there master is a frightening prospect and then some. Take into mind iori was a mage himself,even if it was basic fire spells. That's pretty terrifying to considering any saber had to mutual kill iori to put him down. Thats freaky

For those not in the know Servants are supposed to be wayyyy more strong the ordinary mages. Its why shiro from stay night got the absolute shit beat out of him and nearly died the entire war despite surviving Its a testament to how nightmarish iori trained himself,learning from his words miyamoto and kojiro,to the point he was able to stall or even body other servants. That is insane considering that in the final boss of the bad ending, saber,iori was fighting aganst what might as well be his worst matchup given hes a mere mortal with unholy strength aganst the only mortal wielder of one of japans most powerful relics And he got a mutual kill out of that. It took a mutual kill BY A SERVANT to put him down. That is huge considering takeru was a heavy hitter, especially due to his noble phantasm being kusanagi,and 1v1,what happened was a mutual kill,holding back be dammed.

One small correction: Iori didn't get a mutual kill in his fight against Saber. Saber stabs him through the chest and Iori's final attack misses Saber. The reason Saber disappears at the end is because Saber is Iori's Servant, so without Iori around to supply mana to them they disappear. Also without the Holy Grail/Waxing Moon there to keep the ritual going the Servants also won't be able to stick around.

As a reminder, Iori is the disciple of Musashi. While Musashi in Shimousa was the Woman version: she was still very much a human squaring up against the likes of Tomoe, Shuten Douji and Raikou. Iori learned from the best.

He had Infinity that equaled Void with nothing but PURE SKILL And even though Musashi just barely won due to Guda's observation of quantum mechanics breaking down during that duel, SASAKI KOJIRO SURVIVED ANYWAY

So in other words it's a dual wielding style using a long and short blade at the same time... basically Ahsoka's style from Star Wars. Man I really loved him as the protagonist of the game! Finally a worthy MC who isn't bitchin' and whimpering around with bricks for brains, but who instead immensely improves during the entire story. He was also very composed as well.

Not only because of the story, the characters, and the journey itself, but it made me think of the reason why I'm such a huge FATE fan and why I'll continue to be. In game canon we can assume that whole Waxing Moon Ritual happen maybe 2-3 week ingame time because of day-night circle we saw. So iori went from running away from servant to fight toe to toe with them in fucking less than month. If he got summon as a servant just give him a grand candidate

The disciple of both Musashi and Kojiro who learned both the sword of Infinity and the Void. He grew to surpass his master(as a powerful servant) in less than a month. Honestly even if he isn't the Grand Saber I want to see an Irori Alter who defeated Saber in the secret end and went on to grow even further through constant war.

That's how crazy the past were for any type moon franchise imo. Because mystery isn't entirely gone yet due to humanity not really dispelling stuff with science, people were a lot more powerful and had a lot of potential. In fate samurai, masters were actually as competent in combat as their masters and in cases like Iori could even beat and overpower servants as a human!

Just got the true ending. I thought I was gonna be playing an above average anime spinoff. Ended up being one of my favorite games of the year. I honestly enjoyed it more than XVI. Omega Force and Type-Moon knocked it out of the park.

Well if nothing else the Void Stance allows a person to surpass human limits and its very rare as essentially only two people Iori and Musashi have ever reached it. Plus he had the Tsubame Gaeishi which is a technique so potent it reaches true magic. So its less how "strong" Iori is and more the quality of his techniques and learning. By the time he's faces Musashi hes battled multiple people, monsters and even went up against Servants with Saber. Plus he actually fought against Saber and managed to squeak out a draw against and incredibly powerful Servant. So yeah its wild but this isn't the first time in fate a MC after a fuckton of hardship came into their own power and killed a Servant.

Musashi never once fired her NP or anything, so I think it was more of a test of swordsmanship. And she had him beat in her own style. But he whipped out a technique she never could’ve expected, or defended against if Kojiro ever did it. And that was just with one sword. He did it with two swords.

Iori trained to master the sword, and learnt from Musashi, as well as Sasaki. Basically, Iori isn't as powerful as a servant, but his strength comes from understanding. Like how Unlimited Blade Works had a good matchup against Gilgamesh and his pride, Iori spending his time learning from Musashi means that he was a good counter to specifically her.

@Noaxid Yo your comment really helped me now I can use void stance well what I do is do the void stance 5th string which gives Iori i frame and as soon as the string has started in the middle I switch to earth stance and run away again change to void and by repeating this I was able to get good at Void stance.
