Glad you liked it. Always thinking of new ways and new ideas to include into the videos that don't take a crazy amount of time. Slow motion swings etc are quite easy and non time consuming, but am always open for any suggestions. Thanks for watching.

Comparisons are particularly useful in my opinion, as you are hitting all clubs on the same day, so the results are directly comparable. As you say, we are all human!

I appreciate your reviews and I really like your straight-forward and non partial point of view. My only concern about your description of the JPX 900 Forged is you don't mention anything about adjusting to a higher launch and descent angle by being fitted with the correct shaft and then possibly fine tuning with a 1 degree weaker loft adjustment across a few clubs, if necessary. Keep up the good work! Tom
@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom thanks for the comment. Believe me when I say that even if I was to weaken the lofts by even more than 1 deg it would still be low launching. I'd be having to get into the realms of possibly around 3 to get comparable initial launch angles but then that's only 1 degree from being the 7 iron. With reference to the shaft, your absolutely right when saying that being fit is so important when you test or buy any clubs. In my own case and I am somewhat of an exception due to how placidly load the shaft, I can fit dramatically different bend profiles and flexes and see very little if any at all launch differences. In my tests to try and give you the viewer the ability to compare what the manufacturers have done to the design that influences launch I always where possible keep the same shaft. I'll do a video sometime soon to properly discuss and demonstrate the fitting process and possibly use another person along side me that is sensitive to shaft changes that will show the different ends of the scale. Thanks very much for watching and don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already.

Thanks for your reply. I fully understand what you and I can do with a club to manipulate the end result but this typically doesn't come into play with the average golfer. The shaft manufacturers make low, mid, and high launching shafts for a reason. My main point was to avoid sounding somewhat discouraged on this club model without mentioning during the review, being fitted with the correct shaft will be step #1 then possibly, step #2 is tweaking the loft angle if necessary, which can be done across the entire iron set (+/- 2 deg) to have proper distance gaps. In contrast, AliTaylorGolf reviewed the JPX 900 forged and he got 15.5 launch angle, 137 deg descent, and 177 carry so the clubs performed differently for him with the stock shaft. The Mizuno website says the stock shaft is Project X LZ 5.0 steel. The Project X website says the LZ shaft is a mid launching shaft. PX doesn't offer a high launch shaft. The 2016 Mizuno custom shaft options (Mizuno hasn't listed the 2017 options yet) for high launch were: True Temper XP 95 and XP 105; Nippon NS Pro 950 stiff is mid-high launch; and KBS C-Taper Lite are mid-high launch. Again, for the average golfer a mid-high to high launching shaft will make a difference in launch and descent angles. I'm only suggesting to mention the basic options of shaft and loft adjustment during your review to give people some additional ideas and confidence that these clubs may work well for them if the proper steps are followed. Thanks, Tom

You've hit the nail on the head there Tom. We all deliver the club in different ways and that's why custom fitting it's so so important. I deliver fairly neutral and placid delivery numbers but Mizunos excellent fitting cart had the full spectrum of possibilities. My only concern when tweaking lofts +/- 2 degrees is is dramatic effect on bounce. A full 3D view and understanding of the individual players AoA has to be taken into account before any tweaking is done. Any good fitter should be able to make that assessment. Thanks for the feedback I will endeavour to reiterate on upcoming videos that my results aren't indicative of the golfing population and personal to me only.

I do enjoy your reviews. Very descriptive and sensible information. Something I would like to do maybe in the future as a "good average golfer". I think the way you analyze the numbers is very true and useful. Also looks like you have very consistent ball striking and pretty good consistant numbers which helps when comparing clubs. If you want some feedback on maybe a few improvement( and by the way I know your just getting started and planning on doing more as you can and get more viewers, but your starting well.) showing the flight on the gc2 simulator if you can ,ages the review much more fun and interesting to watch. If you have the hmt. I would use that and put the stickers on everytime. At the end bring up to average of each club to easily compare at the end. Even showing strike sometimes is really more interesting to me. One of my favorite reviews was Rick Shiels on the taylormade psi tour. Check it out and see what you think. Sry for the long message.

That's fine Cody, I appreciate feedback good or bad. Unfortunately I don't have hmt but do intend to get it if things go well with the channel. You are right in saying that I'm quite lucky that I do strike the middle quite often and if I miss strike one i have the ability to tell exactly where it has missed on the face, I have been known to call the mis-strike down to the millimeter when messing about using strike tape. I do have a simulator in Perfect Golf software but it's housed in the fitting studio which is a bit dark for the camera (dark because of the projector) and images aren't great quality. Maybe I'll be able to set something up in the future so I can add this visual effect into the content. I am conscious at the moment how much time it does take to complete as i have a very busy schedule and adding in the KZbin channel is testing my time management skills to the max. I'm trying in my videos to bring a more in depth look and understanding of the GC2 numbers so the viewer can hopefully learn where and how different ball flights happen and therefore improve their own understanding of their own game. Thanks for the comment and don't worry about long comments , as you can see I don't mind a long reply ☺

thats cool. Sounds good. Yea I nowadays there's more launch monitors around. Like there's. Place 30 min from my house with like 12 bays of track man and simulator. I go there and work on game and use track man for $15 for like 70 balls usually more. I have taken one short lesson few tips from family and friends and can really improve my game with KZbin, understanding the numbers and being able to use the track man. And another place you can rent gc2 for like $35 and hour with no sim just the numbers and ball flight. Just to give you an idea. I am a natural athlete and pick up any sport reasonably well and understand the intricacies of whatever I do. I only played about 10 rounds of golf in my life and driving range a few times a year to maybe 20 some years. Until this year were I was in Florida all winter and really got into the game. Played a few times a week. And have been at the driving range a few times a week this summer with only a few rounds. But am shooting 85 to 90. Have a long way to go but seeing good improvements. Just need a few lesson and more practice the goal is single figures by end next summer. I'm 29 and and just like to get good to play some tournaments for fun. Thanks again.

Great review. I've been playing the MP-58's for nearly 7 years and it was time for a change. Recently was custom fit for the JPX 900 Forged irons 5-GW; 1/4 in short and 1 deg flat in the NP modus tour 105 shaft in stiff flex. Love the lighter weight shaft compared to my PX 5.0's. 5 grams lighter and what a difference. Also the NP Modus 105 has a softer tip compared to the PX which is better for me I'm a high ball hitter and going to the JPX 900 Forged should bring down my ball flight based on your review Love the feel and look of the JPX 900 Forged irons. It was between the MP-25's and these. Even though I didn't hit the MP-25's I'll take the similar feel but extra forgiveness of the JPX 900 Forged irons all day long.

+Stephen DiBari it's great to see you spent the time to get a good and comprehensive fitting. Getting dialed in to the exact specification that suits and feels to you the absolute best is critical to allow you to enjoy your golf and lowering your scores in the future. Mizuno make a broad spectrum of clubs to cover every golfers requirements and not all will suit everyone's eye. I'm really glad you have managed to get a setup that you are happy with. Custom Fitting is a passion of mine that changes people's beliefs when it comes to how much different equipment can make to someone's ability to play at their best. AskGolfNut you're welcome and I have subscribed to your channel. Love your club reviews especially this one. I've been playing for nearly 25 years and at 52 yrs old Ive got my handicap down to a 6.2 the lowest it's ever been. I could've gamed the MP-25's honestly but when I went for my fitting 2 weeks ago I hadn't hit a ball or played a round since October of last year. I was rusty at first but got much better as the fitting progressed. Do you agree there is Somewhat of a stigma that even an iron like JPX 900 Forged are for more mid-handicappers? Playing of a 6.2 I can easily game these irons. Think this is the Reason why Mizuno has eliminated the handicap spectrum from their website for the JPX 900 lineup. I was fit a PGA Superstore here in the USA , paramus NJ. The fitter was excellent and saw I was struggling a bit with my contact when I got into testing for drivers. The only one I hit pretty flush was the Cobra King F7. what a terrific feeling driver compared to the Callaway Epic and the TM M-2. Also hit the Mizuno JPX 900 driver , liked the feel of it but didn't like the sound, sounded like a cannon. I wound up buying the Cobra King F7 driver , 3-4 fairway metal and the 3-4 hybrid off the shelf with the stock Fujikura Pro shafts all in stiff flex. Will be looking to also get the 5-6 fairway metal soon to fill in the gap between my 3-4 fairway and 3-4 hybrid Quite honestly this is the best feeling driver, fairway metal and hybrid I've ever hit. I'm happy.

Loved your comparison of theses clubs. Would you compare the MP H5's against the jpx 900 forged at some point?
@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
Of course Tyler. I've tested the MPH5 against the older 850 forged and noticed a higher flight and spin rate and steeper decent angle with the MP H5. For some reason the JPX850 and 900 Forged although loving the look of them have never performed as well as an MP iron for me. If you still want me to do a review I will add it to the requests list. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

i do prefer the truer lofts of the mp25's...I'm a pretty consistent ballstriker just the occassional blip...i do like to know when i stick 1 near the flag its going to stop...i dont like this current penchant of lowering the lofts and spins just to say it goes further...if u want it to go further just use more club. Love watching mizuno reviews especially as I'm due to upgrade my irons this year (i keep them 3 years normally then upgrade) so new irons and wedges are on the horizon 👍

I'm still using my trusty MP57's from 2007. I can't help but love the feel they give and ultimate feedback. I'm sure I'll upgrade one day just not quite sure as yet. On performance only it'll be between the MP25 and the Apex CF16's. Can't dismiss the launch monitor numbers on these little rockets. Thanks for the comment.
@commane218 жыл бұрын
The Apex are nice looking clubs, but they are so much longer than the 25's. Plus they're not nearly as buttery. If you're going for the forged feel and standard distances, wouldn't you opt for the Apex Pro? They are much closer to the MP 25's in terms of performance. Apples vs bananas!
@Cornwall18888 жыл бұрын
Nick watney is now using the mp25's in his longer irons and jpx 900 tour in his scoring clubs.

@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
They can blend quite well as long as the lofts were blended. As standard there is a few degrees difference like for like irons so his fitter has weakened of the forged and strengthened the tours to create a very nice set up. Thanks for the comment and for watching and don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already.
@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
They'll have to strengthen the Tours and weaken the Forged as they have a 3 degrees difference between like for like. If they were to strengthen the Tours by 1.5 degrees and weaken off the Forged by 1.5 deg they could have a nice blend. Of course doing that would adversely effect the given bounce for each club so I'm guessing for the tour players they well might forge a different set to keep the designed bounce amount but be able to have the lofts at the desired point. Moving the lofts on any club by around the degree mark won't be an issue the problem comes when sets are blended that have quite a large loft difference and thus totally nullifies the designed bounce. Hope this makes sense, if you need any more explanation or information I'm happy to help. Thanks for watching.

I got confused watching this with your descriptions. The JPX EZ Forged has Boron like the JPX 900 Forged.
@AskGolfNut7 жыл бұрын
+RT S Hi there RT S, sorry if there was any confusion. I made the video some time ago. Yes they all have the added Boron. To be fair to Mizuno it's a technology that they are, sticking with so they must be happy with its performance. It's so important to get properly fitted for whichever clubs you intend on purchasing. Golf equipment costs aren't getting any cheaper so it's vital that your purchase is properly matched to your own unique swing. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
@77jackling8 жыл бұрын
The ez forged have boron in them as well.
@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
You are completely 100% correct. Out of all the range that Mizuno has decided to inject Boron into the 1025E strangely it's the EZ Forged that feels different to the others. Now the MP25, JPX900 Forged and even the 850 Forged feel near in identical but the EZ Forged even though really construction wise it's a close to identical as you can get its different. Whether that is due to the acoustic difference with the Game Improvement style head in not sure. Thanks for the comment and for watching and don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already.

"I don't like the dark look" says the guy all in black hehe. As a high handicapper, based on that, I'd never touch the MP25, not just due to the lack of forgiveness but the distance is also less. It would have been nice if you were using the stock shafts for each club
@AskGolfNut8 жыл бұрын
The MP25 is arguably the most forgiving MP iron although it's definitely not for anyone that does tend to use a lot of the face. In regards to the shafts I try in all my tests to try and keep everything similar as if not it causes many a disagreement amongst the shaftoid crew. Mizuno now with the inclusion of no up charge for any shaft or grip have no such thing anymore as stock shafts as they are all now stock. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Any and all feedback is welcome and yep the guy in black comment made me chuckle.

Hi Adam, thanks for being one of the sensible people out there that understand that manufacturers can only do a certain amount with physics. They can maximise everything as best they can but after that they just get into the realm of going overboard with cranking lofts and pulling CG. I don't know where you are located as if you were anywhere near by i would say come over for a proper fitting experience with me, but that most probably is logistically impossible. I personally get my best numbers from the likes of MP25, CF16's etc. That one step down from pure players irons. I strike it will enough to play them, they just don't perform well enough to actually take them on the course. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
