Bring back Lindsay! She is so relatable for average golfers!

About a week ago I had the pleasure of meeting Lindsay buying coffee in downtown Toronto. It might have been the first time she’s been “recognized” because of her TXG appearances. She was a bit flabbergasted but I I assured her that she has lots of fans in KZbin land. A very classy woman with a lot going for her. Ironically, I’m picking up my Hot Metal Pro irons from TXG Burlington tomorrow.

Hi Timothy Daniels I got a set 2 weeks ago, you will love them. I still can’t stop smiling every time I hit them. My first competition playing with them I shot 1 under.

Lindsey speaks to me. The things that she wants in an iron, her typical shots and misses, and the results she got were an exact description of my game and the results of my fitting last week. I REALLY wanted to walk out with a set of the forged clubs, but I hit these better and they fit my game better. Patiently waiting for my new set of Hot Metal Pros.

I needed to replace a set of irons earlier this year so, naturally, I looked at Mizuno. I hit all of the available 919 models. I liked the feel and better distance with the HM irons but I felt that the increased offset was causing me to hit everything to the left. I loved the feel of the Forged and Tours but lost distance with them. I vacillated about the HM's so long that the Pro model unexpectedly came out. I loved the thinner top line, less offset and the compact heads. I hit them and the flight was straight without needing to compensate for offset like I did with the HM's. I got fitted for the correct shaft and the grips that I prefer and they were ordered. Because of weather and vacation, I finally got to play a complete 18 holes last weekend and I broke 90 for the first time in several years. I loved everything about the Pro's and I can't wait to play again.
@josephdurkin81803 жыл бұрын
You should have taken consistent straight shots over pure distance with no accuracy. If I (theoretically) hit my 7 iron 110yds straight as a arrow and I can repeat that every shot I will take that. If I got irons I hit my 7 iron 190 yds but every direction and mainly a pull hook they deffinetly are not going in the bag. Distance is not everything in golf Edit: I have Mizuno jpx 900 tour irons 4-9. I hit my 7 iron 150 straight as a arrow repeatable everytime. When I was getting new irons I hit the titlest t300 and I was hitting that 7 iron 173 yds. It was ALL OVER THE PLACE!. I couldn't keep the ball straight! Way to much offset! It was a massive pull left every shot, EVERY shot. Don't get me wrong I would love to hit my 7 iron 173... But I cannot for the live of me hit the clubs straight. I'm a 9 handicap btw

Loved the review with a golfer whose playing frequency is more realistic for the "average" working person :). I did a Mizuno fitting 5 days ago and ended up in a set of these. I'm 48, been playing since I was 12 but I am forever going to be "recreationally competitive" in that I play to a high single index, hit a reliable draw, have no problem with spin and hit a high ball but am lucky to play more than twice a month on average. Because of that, I am going to frequently not find the center of the face, players irons, like the MPs, killed my distance. These are so well conceived and constructed and feel just as good as the 919 Forged (to me, at least) but my distance dispersion is so improved I would have been a moron to not buy them. I would challenge those who think a "good" player wouldn't want these to go hit them and then comment. The same commitment to quality Mizuno has in their "players" irons is very evident here.

Guys, I fluctuate between a 5 & 6 GHIN, and I was playing Ping i210. I’m not playing as much these days and my inconsistent delivery to the ball was killing my distance on slight mishits. I tried PXG and found consistent distance on these slight mishits, but I can’t afford those irons. The week the HM Pros were to release I did a fitting in San Antonio looking for an iron to do what the PXGs did. I tried Apex, Apex Pro, JPX 919 Forged, P760, and these. From feel, to consistency, to the look, offset, topline, etc, I chose these. I didn’t need the distance, and like the fitter said, I could play just about any iron, but these did what the PXGs did for a WHOOOOOLE lot less. I’ve played three rounds with them so far and I love them! I’m still learning my distances, but these are exceptional irons!

Loved this video. I'm a 14 handicapper middle-aged male golfer with a swing speed similar to Lindsay's. I also much prefer 'players' irons and have played Cleveland CG1 Tour blades for a while now. I know what my carry distances are through a healthy dose of realism and also extensive use of a tracking and tags system designed in Scotland (I won't name it but the system's name begins with S not G!) and don't mind admitting my 6 iron carry distance with my CG1 is 'only' about 142-145 yds. Golf for us more mortals who swing a driver around 92mph is not going to be about distance. Its confidence over the ball. Contact and consistency if possible. The 3 c's I've always said. All my friends tend to hit the ball further than me (when they DO eventually manage to 'get one') but always tend to score worse than me. More videos with Lindsay please. Many more. Many thanks Doug Mackenzie.

Very interesting irons to fill the gap between hot-metal and forged. It really got me when you talked about the sole. When I was using JPX800 irons, I had problem getting a decent hit, it felt like I was hitting behind the ball on artificial turf but no problem on the tee or real grass. I later got 716 AP2 irons which solved my previous problem but lost 5-10 yards because of loft and definitely not as forgiving. I'm actually surprised how forgiving the JPX800 are, considering how old it is compare to 716 AP2. Great video as always guys. LOVE TXG!

Nice video Gents, I put the HM up against the HM Pro, I really wanted to like the Pro because of its looks and the idea behind the design but found the standard HM to be just a bit more forgiving. What surprised me the most was that I also preferred the sound and feel of the standard HM over the Pro (at least to my ear). What was a little disappointing was that the sound and feel of the previous model JPX 900 HM was better than both of these new iterations. Again, of course, that is completely subjective. Thanks for providing great content and guiding us along. Cheers

I was fit into i210s, though I strongly biased the head choice during the fit (me stubborn). Have been struggling a bit (and also working with a coach changing my swing) and decided to order an HMP 7i to test. Got it with Recoil 95 stiff as my i210s are i95 regular. Liked the HMP a lot. Then tried the HMP 7i w/PX Tour LZ graphite 6.0. Winner winner chicken dinner. Need to keep my tempo under control, but first round with that 7i in the bag I used it 3x - knock-down on a windy par 3 to within 1', knock down on another to within 10' (and it was mis-hit), and hit a hook (on purpose) out of the rough to bend around a tree to just short of the green. Long, forgiving, workable. Great club.

Just ordered a set yesterday after a fitting. Played to a 7 hcp this year (with a great short game), but needed to hit more greens consistently. Had played Ping i200's the past 2 years with Project X 6.0 shafts, but felt I was struggling trying to work in swing changes over past few months with better rhythm. Note - I was still hitting my 7 iron 160+ yards, but felt I was struggling more than I should be finding consistency. I finally felt there was a good looking (more of a player's) option with the "PRO" version allowing me (and my pride) to gain both distance and more importantly to me accuracy. Trusted the fitter whole heartedly and picked up 11 yards while only seeing a shot dispersion of 2 yards right and left. Was off 7 yards prior and more erratic. Was also surprised to see Mizuno fitting option show the KBS Tour 90 Stiff as the 1st of the 3 recommended options, but it felt great and it ended up being the clear cut winner. Just as a side note that the Srixon Z585 performed very well and would have been my 2nd option. Thanks again for all of the great videos! You guys are clearly the best!

Why would anyone buying a Apex Pro consider a Miz HMP. A real low handicapper 0-5 would never consider the Mizuno HMP. Very nice club but even Mizuno states that this is for a Mid to high handicapper who wants more of a players club.
@flew92965 жыл бұрын
@@spotmfd9431 Why not? Mr TXG himself made the suggestion in the video that Lindsay should try Apex Pro and P760 to compare. These three clubs are designed with techs to generate faster ball speed than conventional cavity back. I think Ian's advice carries a lot of weight.

Could you guys do a video where you fit a shorter, male player? I'm 5'8" and there are no videos on the internet about how to swing if you aren't a taller guy, or how long your cubs should be. That would be awesome! Love your videos!
@paddymckibbin39575 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank Holowka Jr google “ping fitting chart” which will give you a guide. Ping recommend standard length for someone who’s 5,8 but you need to measure distance from your wrist, when standing tall and arms by your sides to get recommended lie angle. You might be a couple degrees flat. This can be applied to any manufacturers clubs not just ping. When fitted properly your swing should be the same as any “average” swing. If you haven’t been fitted for your clubs do so. It doesn’t mean you have to then buy brand new clubs you can get your current ones adjusted if necessary.

Do you have any current videos that review irons for higher swing speeds? I recently got fitted by mizuno and had an avg. club head speed of 100 with a 6 iron (Tempo-6.00, Toe Down- 2.33, Kick Angle-6.67. Release Factor-4.67, spin rate 6900). I love your videos but can't seem to find anything for higher clubhead speeds. I am a 5 handicap, looking for good spin spin rate, trajectory control (typically hit the ball really high), and distance control. Any suggestions?
@Snowman9K5 жыл бұрын
Her speed and swing characteristics are identical to mine. I've always done best with thinner soles and killed leading edge, or pre-worn as you say. I feel I need more spin, not less, because I'm not compressing the ball. So I was surprised to hear you say she should use an iron that reduces spin. Can you expand on that? thanks!
@paddymckibbin39575 жыл бұрын
Snowman9K maybe with the ideal launch angle less spin will help create a more penetrating ball flight, too much spin would cause the ball to balloon up in the air, no good at all when playing in the wind.

From a spec perspective, easily. Same materials, lofts, lie angles, etc. Some people don't like that the Mizuno badge on the regular HM is white while it is black on the HMP. But if you don't need the thicker sole or the offset in the scoring irons, I would imagine the HMP would be a great blending option.
@garybrumley35195 жыл бұрын
The HM's have a lot more offset than the Pro's, which is why I chose the Pro's. I tended to hit the HM's to the left and felt it was due to the offset.

I’m contemplating a new set of combo irons this year as the season in MI is fast approaching. How would you compare the long irons in these to the MP18 FliHi and the MMC. Decent ball striking -8 handicap with 90-92 mph hr 6 iron. I’m thinking MP18SC in 7 iron down and something a little more forgiving in 4-6 irons. I was impressed with the FliHi and MMC. Thinking maybe MMC in 5 & 6 and FliHi or HMP in 4. Was leaning towards Srixon combo early but have kind of fallen for the MP18 range over winter indoor testing.
