Over the years I’d retired maybe a dozen pairs of Mizunos with the wave plate and x10 outsole, but moved on to softer shoes. And now there’s this one, I guess I’ll have to look at it now. Very glad Mizuno is getting attention, I never had a quality issue with any of the pairs I wore out.

I have the black / white one. I am a heel striker and slow runner but the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro is amazing. I never have any aches or pain after the run.. People do tend to look in amazement.. A true Supershoes. By the way.. Impossible to walk in them 😎

Well, Edd, I hate to say I told you so, but....😊 I've been banging the drum on this epic shoe since day one and I just PR'd my fall marathon in them. They're arguably my favorite running shoe in the nine years that I've been running and I've tried nearly all of the super shoes in this time. I had an overwhelming positive experience in my pair earlier in the year too when I first used them. I had low expectations because of the lack of love and interest the shoe seemed to be receiving. But wow, this shoe along with the Saucony Endorphin Elite were 2 race shoes that were winners in my eyes and ones I'll continue using. Looking forward to testing Mizuno's version 2 of the shoe. Already available in Australia but a bit too expensive for my budget at AUD$360. Maybe next year if I can pick up a pair on discount. Excellent review Edd.

For me too, Elite to race in, backed up by two pairs of the Wave Rebellion Pro and the Endorphin Pro 3 for training. Not seen the v2 yet. I will have to go for a search. One for you to look out for dependent on size and availability in Australia is the 361 Furious Future. Looks like an interesting shoe which has only just been released in China and the US so far. I think that I saw someone who has reviewed them comparing as a cross between the Endorphin Elite and Alphafly v1. Could be some cheap deals on a very good shoe available in 6 to 12 months if they aren't selling well.

Edd I’ve done about 260 miles in the black and white model and it’s been nothing short of phenomenal! Fast pace when you want it and when you land on the middle of the midsole the pop off is fantastic..a soft ride with a lot of speedy pop..and literally no signs of wear at all! Amazing shoe

Same for me 👍 with 294 miles on the original black and white model which are still going strong 🙂 I also have approx 30 miles on this colourway. Great long run shoes which really strengthen your legs while giving them some protection. Very under-rated shoes.

I am glad you finally got to test this one. That colorway looks fantastic! I did run in a pair of demo shoes of this version (WRP1) last summer and during the TRE-2023 in Austin I tested WRP2 in a Mizuno running event. I think ride wise WRP2 is smoother, better bounce and energy return. It felt like it lost some weight. I also liked that they eliminated the medial cutout in the foam and that grippy outsole through everywhere the shoe makes contact with ground. That stabilizes the shoe a bit more. Yes, there is still a chance of rocks getting stuck, but this is really designed for road racing. My only complaint is that in their quest to reduce weight Mizuno eliminated the minimal heel counter and during my demo run I felt a bit of heel slip. I think using extra holes with a runner's loop lacking might have fixed that.

Absolutely great stuff! So glad you got round to this and love them...I do. I managed a PB back in April at the Newport 10k and find them very comfortable though walking around in them is perhaps the closest I'll get to wearing high heels! The traction is absolutely top notch and can't wait for numero 2. Great review! And unlucky for the Glovers...I used to go every week back in the mid 80s.

I was on a fence as I already have too many carbon racers but the comparison to Prime X2 (my favourite shoe of this year) reassured me it is worth a try. Yes absolutely agree! I put on over 150k on them now and just love them. One thing is that I recommend to go up half a size- thought they run smaller.

It's been proven that certain colors can raise your heart rate and make people more optimistic about a competition. The color of this shoe gives off vibes of the Ethiopian flag.🇪🇹 Therefore, I don't think it's a stretch that these shoes could make you channel the running form of an Ethiopian marathoner. If you factor that into the final score, it comes to a final score of 12/12.

I knew that you would love them Edd 👍 I have two pairs - this colourway with under 30 miles on, but also the original black and white version with 294 miles on and still going strong (so nothing major to fear on durability). I haven't really raced in them (just 1 x 10k) as with the Endorphin Elite available the WRP doesn't really get a look in. The Wave Rebellion Pro are great training shoes though (especially for some of your long runs on tired legs). Why I find them so good in training is that they take pressure away from my calf muscles (which my other shoes tend to work more) and build strength in my quads, glutes and hips which has been an added benefit 🙂 I paid £160 for both of my pairs which is an absolute steal. They are currently available for just £125 in some sizes 😮

Thanks for the footage at 5:57 Now I see the compression on the inner side and I understand why my pair gets chewed up on the rear Anyway, I enjoyed my races with this model (5k and 10k) The grip is really insane, so sticky Best grip for me after puma's one My main issue is the upper fabric After a few months, the fabric was getting sweat stains, yeah the yellow ones It's not that bad, but I was also using these shoes casually because I really dig my black and white kakizome colorway Once it was all stained, I just kept the shoes for training The stains wasn't going off despite intense washing/brushing Good supershoe overall tho 😂

Is the upper stretchy Ed? I’ve had issues this year with forefoot issues (metatarsal heads) and I’ve been diagnosed with a Morton’s Neuroma. Thankfully I can’t feel the Morton’s at all. So I’m heading towards wide fitting and stretchy uppers. I’ve found Adidas for example have no give at all. Whereas my New Balance Supercomp stretch around my foot which is great. @@EDDBUD we are all victums of the marketing world (or the lack of) , they were just getting some love , when wooden crates started to arrive at peoples doorstrep and Saucony's little green monsters shouting me me me .. then Hoka said I have a new Rocket, Vapourfly put its hand up; Before we knew it, the strange shoe from Mizuno was gathering dust on the shoe rack. I had mine for close to six months before I actually took it out of the box . One mile in 'well this is strange' then it was a 'Oh my' ,in my best George Takia impression. 🙂

Tested today at the running track, I'm now uploading the video. This is a very strange pair of super shoes. Even though the Nike Alphafly have a gradient of weirdness, the Wave Rebellion Pro are furthermore strange (and, regrettably, slow). I was expecting to be Coil-Man (yes, I'm that old) and instead I was a slow coach. Even a pair of new daily trainers (aka Saucony Ride) can go faster than these shoes.
