If you are traveling the world, I would check out Geoffrey B Small! He is super artisanal. He personally has input on every single article of clothing that comes out. He does interviews inside his own shop. This clothing brand puts out about 1,200 articles of clothing every year, which makes it extremely expensive, but also arguably the highest quality clothing on the planet.

TBH, you lost me at made in China. I just can't see myself paying $850 for shoes made in China, even though I know this is a high quality product made with vegetable tanned leather. I just don't believe that this shoe can only be made in China. High quality footwear is being made in the UK, US, and Canada in this price range. They probably just can't make this shoe outside China and realize the same profit margin for the seller. I'd rather buy made in England sneakers from Crown Northampton or Goral and pay ~half the price. Would be nice to see a video on Crown Northampton.

I have their FEIT Low Latex. The adhesive of the outsole separated within a year of ownership, around the heel cup. They currently do not offer a repair program and do not sell the outsole for local cobblers to reattach. So I had my local cobbler add some cement in the spots where it separated. The cobbler told me that the latex is drying out and will crack over time. When that happens, FEIT currently doesn't offer any option to continue repairing these shoes. At these prices, I'd argue that's pretty disappointing. Everyone should know they don't offer a repair program right now.

And i REALLY need to ask you a question. Can you PLEASE make a video about Sweat pants? Very suspicious about his pricing if these were made in Italy too. Look at some "real" handwelted leather shoes that are harder to make for example Bontoni or Meccarielo. These go from 800-1500$. So 2500$ sounds out of place.
@teekueАй бұрын
Oh and to add even more. Cork has some nice properties. But it's not "premium". It's just a filler material that is better at that job than synthetics. If it were better than real leather then bespoke shoemakers would use cork but alas they don't. It is quite good for insulation. But you need it because there is empty space not because it makes the construction more premium so to speak. As always: great video though!

You should probably know that the “made in italy” label can be stamped after making “significant transformations” in italy. Oftentimes, european entities, dependant on country, will have blanks manufactured overseas (ex.Meermin) but have enough finishing details to qualify for the label of being made domestically. Price reflecting, if it isn’t charging a leg for it. The “made in italy” is probably using blanks made overseas (not necessarily true when its expensive as Zegna is well known for manufacturing in China).
@freebornfloor1600Ай бұрын
@@coopers1716some credit still ought to be given. It’s a whole piece upper and capable of hiding the welt without causing or creating significant deformation from the attached leather piece. I don’t think niche products like high end welted leather shoes should be attached to usual reputation of a country’s import quality. There are most certainly outlier craftsman out there, for instance, flamingpanda makes MTO boots for an attractive price point in China and has a waitlist spanning a couple of months. The biggest issue that faces resoleable sneakers (crown, goral, vivibarefoot, etc) is that their products are too individualized for any shoe cobbler to fix properly; must be sent to them to fix inhouse. Whether it’s a custom cup sole with a specific type of glue. Or it is a welting method thats a bit too “modified”. Yes, feit says its a “modified gyw” but many cobblers on reputable reddit threads have stated that it would be too financially unfeasible/impossible with what they usually have to properly resole feit.

Crazy to see Feit here! I have 4 pairs (1 of the low sneakers seen here, 3 biotrainers) all purchased secondhand for around $100 each. I have to say they are the most comfortable shoes I own. Durability can be an issue; I have had soles come unglued, and the all-leather soles on the low sneakers wore through and had to be replaced. However, I think this video raises a good point- there is no "perfect" shoe that is the most stylish, durable, and comfortable, all at once. Tradeoffs have to be made. I think Feit, by opting for lighter weight and softer materials, have maxed out the minimal styling and comfort level of their shoes. For me, I would rather a shoe be comfortable and require a few more repairs, compared to wearing something like the Iron Rangers on the daily. You'd get used to them, and they'd last a lifetime, but they'll never be as comfortable as a shoe with lightweight, soft construction. One note about repair services- Feit has offered these in the past and are currently revamping them. I hope they come back soon!
@rc3398x16 күн бұрын
How much do you pay for the repairs?
@brennanharris673916 күн бұрын
@rc3398x i was never able to use Feit's in house repair service, so i dont know how much they were charging. If you go to your local cobbler, repairs run anywhere from $10 for something minor to $100 or more for a full resole. I've been able to fix the loose soles on my biotrainers myself just using shoe goo, though.

Not sure if this is in reference to an ancient Horween website comment section or I’m too deep into this hobby

@@TheIronSnail I think you may be to deep. On a related note, check out &sons its a British company making clothing inspired by early 1900's workwear and 40-50's leisure. Also, they love all their horses.

Thank you!

Hmm I feel like the benefits of Vibram are basically completely negated with a smooth outsole like this. You need at least some tiny lugs in order to get any kind of traction that Vibram is famous for.

I think we need more of the human touch in our clothing. It just makes everything just a little more authentic!
