Judge Manning really is an amazing human being. It's incredible how she still has compassion with every single person she comes in contact with. We could only be so lucky to have every judge be a little more like her.
@foogod4237

40:21 I was so incredibly impressed when she actually went out of her way to ask the defendant how she actually wished to be addressed when it became apparent there might be some question (even though even her own lawyer was referring to her as "him" the whole time), and then from then on (without even a pause) consistently referred to her as "miss" and "maam" the whole time, and actually even corrects others for using the wrong pronouns. Assuming she was still legally registered as male (which is true for an awful lot of trans women for various reasons), she arguably did not actually need to do that, but still did it anyway, which just shows great character as a judge and as a person, IMHO. Being trans in the prison system, even under the best of conditions, is tremendously emotionally difficult, and having someone like the judge who is deciding aspects of your case not only recognize you as a person but as somebody who deserves the dignity of being addressed by the gender you actually identify as (when nobody else will) can be an incredibly significant and important thing. I already had a lot of respect for Judge Manning for other reasons, but now it's just through the roof.

@@AmandaBooBerry I got involved with raising money to fund an amazing group who ran an orphanage for babies who had foetal alcohol syndrome. This was in Cape Town, South Africa. All the babies were black, as were the care staff. During my many visits, I heard the wailing of babies as they went through withdrawal. I was advised to not wear perfume because even that could cause some babies to react. The eyes and facial shape were so obvious. Those little angels won my heart. It was hoped that the littles could be put up for adoption.

She said let’s all take 5 minutes.. three participants were still on video… then all of the sudden it went black and stated “this is a private video”. I watch all of her videos. Listening to all these cases of 100+ days with no indictment, the defendants should be released. Either you have probable cause or you don't. People shouldn't be in jail for half a year if you can't even reach that low bar. I don't care how far behind the courts or prosecutors are. Start releasing them, and that will send the message to get your crap together.

@@bubbasmith179 I'm honestly shocked Americans who "love freedom" let this happen to innocent people. It's usually tough to point to race or class as a specific factor in legal outcomes, but I absolutely believe this would not be the case if these defendants weren't from marginalized groups-poor, drug-addicted, mentally-ill, represented by underfunded public defenders (see "poor"), and yes, mostly black.

@@jjpaq if you dont have a foundation for making racial claims be quiet. Notice the majority were malea too but i don't hear you saying there seems to be a conspiracy against men. Most were in the same age category and i don't see a conspiracy claim about that either. Because there is absokutely no evidence that gender age OR RACE was ever a factor. All your claim does is inflame others where it isnt necessary . That directly causes racial tension and confrontation where there shouldn't be. It also demeans actual racial victims. First of all dealing with the subject matter is hard enough but to deal with case after case and try to keep your focus on each individual person’s circumstances to rule fairly and effectively. It’s a burden. I know they are trained but every human has their limits. It would be so much easier if people just wouldn’t break the law to begin with. Yom Kippur isn't a celebratory holiday. It's the highest, holiest day of the Jewish calendar. It entails fasting from sundown to sundown, mourning the dead with prayers and it is the closing of the Jewish New Year, the final chance to beseech G-d to write your name in the good book to have a happy healthy prosperous year.

So when I was in court one time in Kentucky a girl in jail had to write the public defender's office in order to get a court date and be seen in front of the judge there. she had no bond and no future court dates on a pending charge. She had spent 77 days with no end in sight. So somehow the public defender was able to get her a court date and in front of the judge. the judge went off he said I realize she has a warrant out of another county and as soon as we release her she's going to be picked up but we are releasing her today.

You can always tell when she's getting upset, her face gets redder the more she's trying to hold it in. I wanted to hear her rip into him again. I don't understand why he didn't just say he recommends no bond.... And yes, the amount of time people are sitting in jail with no indictment is horrible!

Over 500 days with no indictment? It's no wonder Fulton County jail is so over crowded, many of the inmates shouldn't even be there but rather in State prison. The DA should purge their books and either prosecute or get off the pot

The best thing that the pandemic gave us was the flood of new court room KZbin content that is available to us literally every single day. I know it sucks for the court, but zoom court has become an absolute gift for our collective love of watching sovcits in court and all other funny court drama. I mean judge manning and judge Middleton are practically celebrities at this point. I'm not proud of it but I would absolutely love an autographed manilla folder from judge Middleton. He is fantastic

@@mattskeens803the only issue there is it seems to be a murder charge and while I believe others with misdemeanors and possession charges need to be given a minimal bond, this person has nothing to lose, I feel more for those that have committed non felony offenses and have been there a year plus especially when they had jobs and housing prior.

With absolutely no evidence, I have always assumed that Judge Manning is on the LGBTQ spectrum, so it does not surprise me that she is sympathetic to the needs of LGBTQ defendants. Not that you need to be LGBTQ to be sympathetic, of course.

Last Monday in Judge Middleton's Landlord/Tenant cases he found out that the 30 cases he does in a day Judge Simpson does that on average per hour. JM "I should stop complaining then about the 30 per day". Typical JM being humble. That Prosecutor reminded me of Billy Madison movie, "T-T-T-Today Junior".
