Probation is extremely difficult for people who can't follow basic societal rules... and she didn't even make it three from her first offense. Everyone in there knows this so when she does mess up on probation it will be 18 months + the probation violation.

The last case is a classic example of disproportionate sentencing based on gender. Guarantee any 22 year old male with the exact same crimes wouldn't be getting a suspended sentence. He'd be serving at least a year in jail, on top of probation. Not serving a few weekend in jail.

I had a parolee fight a drug test in the late 90s sent the same urine sample away for retest and it was positive. He fought it. We had to bring someone in from the lab to testify to the sample readings. It was crazy expensive.

My favorite part is where she says her life just started. No lady, your life started 22 years ago and you've a grown ass woman with 2 kids, committing serious crimes. Ms O'Brien you are what we like to call "WrOnG"!! It absolutely is a contractual issue, but for the contract, there would be even less of a basis for potential retribution. Having sat at many a bargaining table as both a shop steward and as an executive member of my union, we never negotiated for former employees. It may have been different if the basis was a grievance not resolved prior to an employee leaving their job, but never based on what Ms. O'Brien brought to the table here.
