Great video, didn’t know this replacements existed. Thanks 👍

" '85 California 300D, CD and TD models only, require a different monovalve at least Clima has one to fit these models. Just my luck, it's a few bucks more though. Thanks for going through the process with us. Cheers

Yeah I did see that when I went to grab the link. I’ve actually never see. A cali model in person.

@@mjmcomputers Besides the monovalve, the main difference is the air filter housing behind the the right side headlight the size of a tom tom drum which takes a $100 dollar filter easily replaced with cold air intake and ram filter. Cheers

Calif models have a differant system entirely if I remember correctly.

I have a 1985 CA 300D and had a 1984 at the same time. I don't recall the OE mono-valve differing. The OE mounting bracket differs since it supports the extra heat shield in the CA models. Klima has photos of each model. It appears their difference is in their mounting bracket design. That heat shield protects from the turbocharger being higher up (to clear cat conv "trap oxidizer" added to exhaust). Other changes were different exhaust pipes, different turbo clocking, different starter clocking of solenoid, frame-mounted air cleaner, and heat shield on rear of alternator.

Super! Thank you so much.

Looks beefy. Is there any way to know if the mono-valve (OE or Klima) is working? Can you feel the coolant flow changing? Another approach is a vacuum-operated coolant valve, operated by a small electric-vacuum switch (actuated by mono-valve cable). That was M-B approach in later cars, and a company (Klima?) sold those parts as a retrofit. I did similar in one of my 300D but used a generic coolant valve ($10, ebay) and vac switch from a salvage car (any should work). With that approach, you can see the valve opening and shutting. Heater hose is standard 5/8"D. Silicone is best since lasts long and is flexible to fit easy.

This is a great KZbin video. Thank you! Sidebar: I noticed that Ken at Mercedes Source sells a monovalve climate control electric water pump to upgrade and replace the OEM Bosch. But I don’t think his electric pump is Klima. I wonder which is better. Hmmm….

Ken sells an electric Bosch. Is Klima better than the Bosch?
@mjmcomputers Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, I searched his site and found a video on installing the Klima one.

Re the "aux water pump", I replaced with a section of heater hose in mine. Not needed, except perhaps in northern Germany since never seen one in a U.S. car. If the motor stalls, it can cause a dash fire (add a fuse), and block coolant flow, plus leak coolant at the shaft.

I am in Sunny Florida, when my car heats up the A/C gets warm or when I am the highway. Could it be the mono valve? I have worked on almost everything else.

Great video! I have a ‘79 300TD. The mono valve looks a lot different than yours. Do you know if this company makes an older style mono valve?
@mjmcomputers2 жыл бұрын
I don’t see one listed, you might reach out to them and ask.

you have a servo style, a different system & more confusing I think pre-81 has that

Do you have any idea why the Klima monovalve is so much better than the original bosch part? I am curious what is different internally that makes it better
@mjmcomputers Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how it is built internally but it is a extremely difficult and expensive to get good quality monovalve cartridges to rebuild Bosch units since Bosch stopped making the cartridges.
