Hi just be careful when doing driveshaft hub bolt up as they are not high Torq and can snap due to being stretch bolts they are one hit wonders and a new bolt must be used when undone! The drivers side is a simple job compared to the N/S which has the dreaded Circlip on the shaft end in the gearbox and try as you may they don't like coming out hence unless you have the correct separator tool I. have seen people smashing them with a hammer which is a no no in the trade! On the shaft you removed I get the impression its lack of grease that was causing the issue as there should be movement in and out on the joint but no movement up and down and it sounded like there was no grease in it or the grease have gone dry when you moved it around in the video! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the advice, I did put a brand new nut in with the new driveshaft, wasn’t aware that the N/S had a circlip but that’s for letting me k ow for future reference, there was evidence on the subframe to suggest that there had been a slip CV joint at some point because there was a lot of grease everywhere, so maybe the joint was replaced but the grease wasn’t. Thanks for commenting!!

Nice video . I changed both mine at 85000 miles nothing wrong with them but changed them with genuine ford ones for preventive purposes.

Driveshaft bolt 45nm then a further 90 degrees. Recommended single use, they are a stretch bolt.

Subbed buddy nice video showing us how it's done. I've done shafts before on a Mazda 3 but not done one on my mk2 st yet but good to know it's not to difficult

I’d rather change a driveshaft than fit an intercooler which says a lot 🤣 Thanks for the sub!!!

I have fitted a set of J&R shafts to mine as they say they have modified them to suit lowered and remapped cars. Ok so far, my car is stage 2 300ish Hp. 483nm torque. I got the pair of them for £174 so if they work they will be a great saving on Ford ones.

are the J&R shafts still ok running in your car?
@royevans458111 ай бұрын
@@anniskillz1441 Hi, yep no problems with them so far and I've been pushing them a bit trying to find a weakness in them. For example, the car breaks traction even in fifth gear when flooring it on the cold slippery roads we are now experiencing! Love the car in stage 2 form. The ones I got were DS1091 and DS1092 as a pair specifically for mapped and lowered cars. They say they use a ball bearing design.

You can do it without draining the gearbox oil. Jack the car up at the passenger side only, all the gearbox oil drops to the driver's side. Replace the passenger side shaft. Then repeat the process for the driver's side and all the oil drops to the passenger side.

Always worth knowing thank you, I just thought whilst I’m replacing the driveshaft it was worth changing to gearbox oil as I had no record with the car of it being done

You can buy from Ford which are crazy price, you can buy a cheapo wings at 50 quid or so, or the best option is to go oem quality for about 100 quid. They are far better and worth the extra. I think sea grey is colour code S6 so get a tin of that with a good primer and you should be golden. Don't forget to stone chip protect (or some other thick stuff) the inside of the wing too. Area under wing at sill will be in need of some attention too. Will possibly have to drill out the welded on nuts and fit some rivnuts or just bolt through. The bolts almost always snap when you try to get them out.
