See the lower ball joint rubber boot was split when you dropped the arm, same happened to me so got a boot replacement kit for the mk2 ST , split in the same place too

Have you looked underneath to check the long driveshaft middle clamp to the car bodie as been been fitted?

You don't need to, not a lot comes out and it's easier just to add a top up to replenish it
