MK3 GOLF 8V VS 16V 0-60 RACE

i got 9 flat with my old mk3 3 door 8v gti, precisely 9.03s. stock apart from catback exhaust. Also the engine had a nearly blown headgasket. Since they are not really powerful engines, you really need to start with real nice rpm and decent amount of wheelspin in order to get the best 0-60 out of these engines. Trust me I’m telling you from experience, about 4k to 5.5k rpms launches only, then the shifts you can go past 6k in second, around 5.8 - 6k in first, around 5.8 - 6k in third. (with a 16 valve and proper driving you can get into the high sevens low eights)

7’s when you Floor it and go crazy with the rpm’s and gearing, is possible. But in this video they shift to early… go true those rpm’s… 👍🏻

It was! You can't get it anymore I don't think vw don't produce it so it's a case or ordering samples and test fitting them

It's called dragy but you need the tracker aswell

@@Project7YT ah, i get it ... i will use a hand stopwatch, i'm really curious! ... anyway, i use it little, and i never shoot it, i have this car since 1992, and it actually sucks from 0-100km / h, ha the first gear with a very badly distributed torque! ... but if you accelerate in motion, already from 20-30km / h from the second gear onwards, it has a very satisfactory recovery ... let's say "human" (for what it is) mine has 140k km, I will let you know the result, with my configuration ... p.s. I congratulate you for the channel, and for your availability, I see that you respond to everyone

Had an 8v when they were new. Press at the time clocked it at 9.9. It was a slow car with a horrible gearbox. VR6 that followed it was much better but terrible roll around corners.

I've had both in mk2 shape and the 16v is miles faster than the 1.8 8v but saying that the 16v mk2 is faster accelerating to 60 and 100mph than the 2.0 mk3 16v.

It would be yes for 2 good reasons: 90s safety and emissions, with the additional weight with airbags full sized bumpers and abs systems made it put on a little weight The other reason is apparently the mk3 16v was detuned so it didn't out perform the vr6 as that was it's flagship model, must be why an exhaust and a chip sees healthy gains. My mk2 8v was fun I know that much

I have a mk4 gti 2.0l 8v, and mine is the 3 door, I honestly would say that the 8v engine is strong and fast but I think it's because the engine is in the 3 door and not in the hatch back. I haven't done a 0 to 60 time in mine yet so don't know the time but it is fast from first go.
