I have the same car, 250k miles and still drives perfectly. APR stage 1+. Best car i will ever have.

It’s a love hate relationship with these cars for sure. But when they run they’re definitely fun. I’m currently daily driving the car on a stage 2 tune. 20psi and still getting 25+mpg, I can’t complain!

I just picked up my 2nd '04.5 GLI (15 years after my first that I let go and regretted it since), had to deal with some janky crap from the seller as well. He stated the BBS RC/Center Caps were in "excellent condition" the pictures of the rims were just far away away enough and at an angle you couldn't see anyting wrong, but when I got the car delivered from across the country they were beat up badly; curb rash, finish is peeling, pitting, and the center caps were thrashed with most of the rings bent. The driver wheel was caked with tar on the inside, took me 40 minutes of scrubbing that rim, not a big deal but it was a sign that he never looked after the car and cleaned it every once in a blue moon. Many other little things, like the brake pads were so warn out the pistons pushed out of the calipers in the rear and were seized and the HVAC vents literally smells like brake dust or clutch material, all shocks/struts were clapped out with disintegrating bump stops and strut covers, upholstery coming loose, etc. @ 160k miles I expected a few scratches/blemishes and some upholstery imperfections but dude pulled a fast one for sure all while he kept saying he is an enthusiast and has a "great mechanic". I could look past a lot of stuff but the biggest caveat I had other than the rims was that I had 3 weeks to order parts and be ready as soon as the car got here to get stuff done if he had been more transparent about the brakes and suspension. Some folks out there are just lucky we are older and got kids.

What a shame, I love these cars. I bought and rebuilt my mk4 wolfy from non running to track ready over a year. Got some Santa Monica’s and powder coated them black. Makes the car pop, awesome wheels and look great with the right set up. Looks like a big project bro, good luck

I was looking at this car actually! Im from Chicago, since day one there was a lot of fishy stuff with it, sorry you went through that brother

That’s crazy! Yeah it was a very disturbing thing to deal with. Overall I still can’t complain for the price I got the car for. But it having the “stock wheels” (bbs rc’s) would have been nice to have along with it.

What is the name of those rims i want them.. I wish they were concaved with 1.5in lip or so
@PapaSmurf337Ай бұрын
They are BBS RC 336, they are OEM VW by BBS @ 7.5in wide, if you want concaved/dished get the BBS RC 330s, from BBS aftermarket @ 8in wide.

@drewnashty ty so much brother.
@PapaSmurf337Ай бұрын
@@K3nPadillaG Np, they are my favorite rims, those and BBS LMs. The BBC RC 336s on the GTI 337 have a shot peened finish while the ones from the GLI have a silver painted finish. The shot peen is good for durability and fatigue resistance and in contrast to give you an idea ... I just got another '04.5 GLI and the condition of the rims are pretty bad, finish is peeling, pitted from brake dust and road contaminants, etc. The prior owner clearly didn't take care of these rims but the pictures before I bought it were at an angle where the looked good. I got misled for sure.

so i have a slight delema with my mk4, i lowered it on some raceland primos, and on the driver front it has a lot of positive camber, i’ve replaced the control arm and the tie rod and it didn’t seem to fix it, but the passenger side and the rears are just fine. any reason why or what it could be if you would know?
@BMSmouthers2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, my only guess would be a possible bent strut. But I do know with stock golf/Jetta control arms & spindles, These cars naturally have +1 degree of camber when you lower them. Everyone does the r32/tt suspension to gain that -1 instead.
