Today I have a 2004 MK4 R32 Golf and a Mk5 R32. I compare the two and take them both for a drive with an in depth tour thanks to my buddy Nick “mr.turbohand” over at ACI Dynamix in Seymour CT

the unique exhaust note has more to do with the inequal length of the intake and exhaust runners than the piston orientation. Yes the orientation of the VR6 block nessecitates the short / long offset of the runners for the intake and exhaust but it is that fact that makes for the "wookie" sound. some beautiful cars you're showing off here.

The MK4 R32 all day long. I owned a 2004 VW Golf MK4 R32 with a Stage 2 VF ENGINEERING SUPER CHARGER INTERCOOLED with alot of go fast parts to much to list. I loved it and it's a driver's car much more than the MK5 R32. Still miss her to this day, lost her in 2012 to SUPER STORM SANDY in NYC 😢. Hold on to that nice R32 enjoy her. To other people it's just a piece of metal and bolts but to enthusiasts car's are like part of the family. Nice car very clean I had the same color.

Had a similar mk4 r32 with the same 19” BBS ch wheels. Miss that car everyday, but bought it at a time in my life where I couldn’t keep up with the maintenance cost. 2k for a new steering rack did me in. One day I’ll get another. I’d argue the stock exhaust with flapper mod sounds epic, above every aftermarket exhaust. Beautiful cars and quality content. Thanks, guys

Did you have run 5x112 with an adapter, I don't recall BBS making this wheel in 5x100 bolt pattern in 19"?

@@AndrewHeisey Then those are 18x8 wheels, they don't make 19's with 5x100 bolt pattern. thanks for answering my question, mr. turbohand does a great job of never taking a photo of the wheel size.

@@oldkid6 not sure what to tell you, I didn’t by the wheels they came with car. I could swap the stock wheels on for winter, no adapters. 🤷‍♂️

yeah i hear ya, the mr. turbo guy is running 19's with adapters because i paused the video and stamped right on the wheel is ET30, that offset did not come in the 18" wheel, only 19"s

Stock to stock, that mark 5 dsg will whip the mark 4 EVERY time. I would still rather have a 6 speed. I love my Mark 4, its my daily at 180k, the car is bulletproof. Cammed and every other mod you can imagine, Euro spec. everything. They look so good, turn heads.

I like the video bro!. Thanks for putting the effort to show both of the models.. The MkV comes with a pretty good sounding stereo with a CD stacker, but I seldom listen to it because the exhaust sounds better!

Uh dude DSG is definitely faster than the 6 speed. The MK5 is also stronger if you boost it because of the DSG as well.

By the way, you are so wrong about the DSG slowing the car down, the DSG is quite a bit faster than the manual version.

Both Golfs are fine but the best investment you can make for yourself is to go to a safe driving school where every teacher has at least one championship to their credit and you will find out in the best possible way how good it will be for you does at all levels !!! Trust me it's the best for young age drivers and the knowledge you'll get is way better than an exhaust or an engine tune up. Good travels everyone.

@Anthony Misakian Can vouch for your praise of the MK4. I have one in Tornado Red with cloth interior which was the rarest combination in the US. Had it since 2006. Euro spec models had other even rarer colors and even the stock konig seats had alcantara centers as an option. Question: thinking of retrimming my stock steering wheel. The wheel on the mk4 in this video looks like a retrimmed stock wheel, but in the video you mention that it is a replacement wheel, suggesting it is aftermarket. Was that what you meant or is it actually a stock wheel that's been retrimmed with that carbon fiber and perforated leather rim? the center section (airbag section) looks stock.

@@hapjoy16 If you think driving a mkv r32 is boring then you're not driving it right. I've owned one since 08 and that car is anything but boring. That being said yeah depending on the car a manual can be more fun for sure. They are both super nice cars for sure and the sound of the VR6 is the best!

Becouse they are becoming stupid expensive în Europe 2,I have a plan,buy a 2.3 VR5,make it as OE as I can,look like a R32,pass inspection ,în Europe you need to do that,then find a Touareg or Phaeton or Passat 3.2 VR6 engine,harness, ecu, make a swap and have my some kind of a R32 but not an insane price tag.

They look like BBS Ch-r's so probably 18x8+38 with a 225/40/18 or 225/35/18
