What did you change to get it to stage 2?
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
RamAir intake, Milltek Sports cat + de-res cat back. For stage 2 only need an intake and decat or sports cat. With HPFP upgrade you can go to 2+ and get a load more torque. I've got videos on the Hardware and tuning linked in the description.

Nice Video Himi.I too have a Mk5,fully modded except a slippy diff. I love your enthuiasm for this peach of a car. Gotta get the ferry over from Ireland and experience the glory of Scotlands' roads. Respect.

I have around 260 ish hp on my stage 1 with catback and intake , you are so right I mostly only use 40 percent of the power most of the time

Yeah it's an unusual one, I forgot how powerful they are just from daily driving 😂. Really fun on the back roads when you can open them up

Are you able to change functions of the tune through the cruise control stalk?

Can I go straight to stage 2 + new intake from stock ? I already have upgraded my exhaust but nothing else yet. You’re my go to guy for the MKV videos man!

Yeah can go straight to stage 2 👌🏼 👊🏼

Mines manual i find you have to hold the clutch in a little longer to avoid rev hang in daily driving , 6 months later still getting used to it

Not noticed anything like that myself 🤔

Great video man! Did you find out about the dv or was it just the intake? I have the same intake and it whistles a little when suctioning air on acceleration
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
I've not looked into it yet, but pretty sure it's the intake as there was no noise before fitting it.
@ab-ilewis84673 жыл бұрын
It's 100% the diverter valve had the exact same sound when I put my intake on and changed my diverter valve to the gfb plus
@AUSomeOpossum4 жыл бұрын
Quick question, my car makes the same "whistling sound" when accelerating decently. Do you know what that is coming from? (intake I assume) and do you know if it's anything to worry about? Thanks!
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's definitely from the intake, only noticed it after installing the intake. Honestly not sure if it's something to worry about, I was planning to look into it further myself. Will post back here if I get any more info.
@chayanesanabria51044 жыл бұрын
Hey guys just in case you're wondering that whistle noise on hard acceleration is definitely the diverter valve.. I'm not sure if you have a revised version or not but even if you do they are known to leak when you get to Stage 2.. I have the same car with basically the same mods ( bolt ons ) i also had a brand new revision D diverter valve and was told to upgrade to a go-fast bits diverter valve as they are a complete different system then the stock diverter valve.. an upgraded intake system will make audible flutters and suction noises but it should not whistle like that.. I guarantee you guys is a diverter valve issue

My GTI is almost identical to yours, even the r32 rear bumper, central twin pipes, ram air etc r-tech tuned 5 maps in total but mine is dsg .. love it 👍👍 Bilstein and h&R lowering springs Good vid 😎👍
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, R-Tech tune must be sick! They know how to get the most out of these, APR tune holds the car back a bit. I'm interested to try the DSG, only heard good things..

Himi always swore by manual until I had this .. would def have another now 👍
@GTIGage4 жыл бұрын
Just a question It looks like you have a manual, did you need a new clutch/flywheel before going stage 2?
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
Yeah manual, didn't need a new clutch since the torque is capped at 290 ft lbs (you can push more on stage 1). It's a bit of a guessing game as well, I've heard some cars managed to run 360 ft lbs on the stock clutch with no problems while others start slipping around 300 ft lbs.
@DnctLion4 жыл бұрын
Great video Himi ! I'm also thinking about going stage 2 from stage 1 mainly because I noticed that 3rd and 4th gear starts to die after 4500rpm for me. How does that feel with stage 2 tune at higher rpms? Did you also have a feeling like the top end is losing power with stg 1 ? I mean.. the torque curve is very noticable how it goes down while accelerating
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
The difference between stage 1 and 2 is minimal, I'm liking stage 2 as turbo lag low down seems to be less, second gear especially seems more responsive. In terms of top end it's similar to stage 1 it still drops off - I'd say it's characteristic of the k03 turbo, might need to go to k04 for that strong top end that keeps on pulling
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
I don't have the upgraded HPFP which let's you go to stage 2+ my tuner was saying it does make a big difference torque wise across the map. But can't comment as never driven a stage 2+ car
@DnctLion4 жыл бұрын
@@HimiJ you might be right, k03 could be small to hold up at higher revs, it makes sense. Thanks for replying, I was really curious about this

Whats the GTI like on fuel bro ?
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
It's not bad. Can get 30 mpg fairly easy, but it can also drop to low 20s with city driving. I've had 40 mpg before on a run. Depends on what kind of driving you do.

You think 🤔. Is it the whistling noise ? Think that's from the intake - car was dyno'd a few months back and on the money but I've also noticed the whistling noise
@markbarker21734 жыл бұрын
Great content, thinking of going straight to stage 2 would a downpipe and res delete with induction kit be enough? Did you upgrade the clutch? Keep the videos coming👍👍
@HimiJ4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, all you need is a downpipe and induction kit, upgraded HPFP internals is optional and let's you go to stage 2+ which gives more torque throughout the map. I've not upgraded my clutch, APR maps are generally conservative (I'm at 290 ft lbs of torque). I know a lot tuners will push this - best to talk to your tuner to see whether the clutch needs done but they should be able to limit it if you don't want to upgrade.
@markbarker21734 жыл бұрын
@@HimiJ thanks for the reply that sounds good. For me 270 bhp would be more than enough in a fwd car not having to replace clutch would be an added bonus😁
