Guys, please don't saw zaw or saws all this. Just drill the head of the bolt off. Then pull the adjuster off. Then just grab the bolt with vise grips and unscrew the bolt that no longer has a head.

We Agree 100% we failed to mention. A drill bit snapped and was stuck. Drilling is alot easier and quicker!

As someone who's done a bunch of these, and by that, I mean well over a dozen. Just use a 1/2 drill bit it take less then 2 minutes for the head to pop off. The headbolts are polydrive but the camshaft adjuster bolt is ribe not poly, which is why a lot of people strip them out.

good job, but what about the o-rings on cam adjuster - they must be replaced , are always broken

Absolutely. We bought a pack of 100 of those rings just because every one we have taken apart ,has had st least one broken ring per set

im due for timing on my bpy gli and i was wondering how much will it be for me to get this job done ? around 1.5k ?? thanks

Parts and labor. 1500 should cover it. All depends on the shop labor

Hey, what happened to me is, i have set the torque wrench to 20 nm, had a friend holding all his weight onto the wrench on the exhaust cam + the locking plate helping locking the cams, and still couldn't rich that click on the torque wrench. Bolt strated to strip so i just left it as is, i guess is tight enough. Didn't want to completely strip the head of the bolt, whats your thoughts about this? Cheers

First off, I would verify the calibration of your torque wrench, if all is well id replace the bolt, if its stripped, over time that bolt will be harder and harder to remove. Then, you will get to the point of where we were in this video.

dang you guys cut that thing off? if you removed the battery/bat cover you could've drilled it 3-5mm slightly into the bolt head and then smash a T60 torx on it and remove it that way. those cam adjusters are expensive as sht for oem

That was the initial plan, But it was to late to go to the store to get some good drill bit, Also, the phaser sheared the alignment pin. that was the whole reason is was in the shop.

oh I see, that's crazy! mine is still fine at 260k miles. no drill bit in that big ole shop? i used a milwaukee 3/8 on 3 poly-bolts and it's still fine. for the chain alignment aren't you supposed to put the brass link on the intake cam sprocket marking, count 17 'dots' and put 18/19 link between the adjuster timing mark on the back? some guides mention this, some don't which is what i find weird. the locking cam tool doesn't lock them 100%, my intake cam seems to be off a degree but i dont know if i can fix it without taking the chain off. seems to not budge with all my manpower lol@@Weissworx

We used a piersburg Vvt gear

We all use Peirsburg or oem dealer vvt gears. We have had issues with the cheap versions
