I love how these 2.5s sound. Sometimes I regret getting my GTI over a 2.5 Golf/Rabbit just because of how the 2.5 sounds compared to the EA888. Both are still fantastic cars overall.

I have multiple friends with GTIs/Rs and while theyre special in their own way with how easily they make great power in an affordable package, the magic of the 2.5 is purely in the sound. Its slow as could be, but the different notes that come from not only the exhaust but the intake as well, is just unmatched. Thanks for watching!

@@FuseMS I agree! My GTI is undergoing lots of repairs right now... Bet I wouldn't have these repairs if I had bought a 2.5 instead lol. According to VW my wastegate failed but I'm getting that verified by a different shop first before I replace the turbo. Then they're fixing tons of very minor oil seeps coming from the engine bay caused (allegedly) by a faulty PCV valve. Its expensive and VW screwed me over. Das Auto. 😂😅

Yep 203k on my mk6 Jetta 2.5 keeps on going

Hey man, sorry I never commented back, yes the engine itself is extremely reliable, as these kind folks have added in. I personally have 210k on mine, although it has had much work. (Clutch at 125k, suspension at 150k, new fenders and stuff) but the engine is bulletproof.

Have you done any sort or tuning ...planning to get one ?
@FuseMS8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I have an Integrated Engineering Stage 1 Tune, custom Cat back exhaust, and AFE CAI. All of them wake the 07k up a ton, still not super fast, but its peppy, and makes a great noise. Plus combine that engine with some sticky Michelins and some coilovers... makes for a super fun daily/backroad ripper

@@FuseMS I too have a used mk 5 with 2.5 ... But in Canada it's hard to get a custom tuning and I don't know to do it myself ...and IE states with custom exhaust it can pump 200 hp
@FuseMS8 ай бұрын
@@cyrilmatthew2995 I would reach out to Integrated engineering, I worked with them closely cuz mine is a 2010 mk5 which is mid mk5 and mk6 so they were nice enough to help a lot to make it happen. Not sure what they can do about Canada but im sure they would be glad to help

Why am I watching a POV of my own car? *Hears exhaust note* That is why Mine is an 05, but apart from the infotainment display it looks the same. Grey/Cream interior, 5MT. Those 18? Inches look ridiculous tho still fitting. I ride 17s from an SEL, and 16 for the winter Genuine question, Why coilovers? I feel like the stock suspension setup is stiff enough (especially with the non-stock rim size.
@FuseMS2 ай бұрын
Hey man, yeah the 05 is essentially the same, although mine being a 2010 got the updated guage cluster, steering wheel, and climate controls. I put 18' Detroits from a mk6 GTI on it since they're my favortire wheels to go on Mk5/6. Honestly looking back on it, I wish I went for some Mk5 R32 suspension, as an OEM+ lowering/stiffeing solution, the coilovers can be a bit much at times, especially in the Northeast. I was also hoping to do some more autoX with it which I unfortunately have not done yet. Thanks for the comment!
