Loved my Fiestas, as a driving instructor over the years had two mk5s two mk 6 then went to Peugeots, back to Ford for four Focus and finally to seven mk7 Fiestas. We had leases that changed the cars every year, then eventually every seven months, kept the cars fresh. Great cars for teaching, Comfort, economy, visability etc.

@vspencer97643 жыл бұрын
@@furiousdriving I’ve got it home and so far it’s cost me £50 for a battery plus delivery to my drive but giving it a quick glance it needs new rear suspension plus a front screen and it’s on 141000 miles but the little diesel sounds okay. I feel terrible for doing it but by the time I’ve spent two days detailing it as it’s covered in green mould and spend out on a screen and suspension then put it through the MOT if nothing else is wrong with it the car is still going to owe me about £700 and for £800 I could get one with half the mileage. Remove my car has offered me £241 for it so I’m only down a little and I’ve got a new 075 battery for my Z3 now also water has been sitting in the front suspension turret for 2 years and although I can’t see rot the top of the strut leg looks very rusty and I’ve a feeling when I have a good poke around I will find a lot more wrong with it.

Got to say I love this review, your passion is amazing. Having had two Fiestas, an 02 Finesse and an 06 Zetec 3 doors I have a lot of respect for how cheap, practical and easy to work on they are. Always recommend the MK6. Few notes you may/may not know: remote central locking wasn't standard on all models, facelift model offers a feature to have the indicators flash up to 3 times with one touch, rear wiper comes on when you put it in reverse (not sure it's common), you can have the hazards flash all round when ABS becomes active to warn drivers behind. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten, I love these cars. Awesome to throw into corners, the turn in and handling I think are amazing. Nippy enough to be fun, slow enough to not kill yourself. You feel everything and really get to known the limits of the car, I put Toyo Proxes on mine all round, braided front brake lines and EBC Green stuff pads and discs on the front. Cheap, very fun car. Thanks for the vid.

great review Matt. Nothing wrong with driving around in old cars. In recent years it has become fashionable for people to 'keep up with the Jones's' and get the biggest, newest, most fashionable car going, all on lease mind you. They would look down on someone driving a perfectly good little runaround like this Fiesta. Great for a learner/new driver. Cheap as chips and it won't matter if it gets a ding or bump here and there and in the meantime you can save the £300 per month you would otherwise be paying for a leased car, towards a deposit on a house. I had a face lifted mark 6 and it was one of the most fun cars I’ve owned. It was a 58 plate Zetec Blue 1.4 so had a few extras thrown at it such as the Sony stereo and lowered suspension (typical of an end of line special edition). It handled really well and was quick enough. The only issues were the rear nearside wheel bearing needing to be replaced, the dashboard boot release stopped working and the bonnet pull came off in my hand which I replaced with a piece of wire. I replaced it when it was 7 years old and it had 56000 miles on the clock and it was still like new. Very fond memories of this car.

I was never a great Ford enthusiast, though I had a mate who loved them and used to make a bit of money doing them up and selling them on. as they were always easy to sell. My own feelings were confirmed with a weekend hire of a mk 4 Fiesta two decades back, which I remember being very bouncy and overly peppy - something a boy racer or a twokker would have loved, but not me. But this one seems to perform well enough, and to even look pretty good into the bargain. Not bad for a 15 year old car, even with the dings and little bits of rust. This is fairly typical of many a younger driver's first car and it's good that they get a review.

I agree with you on that judgement. I passed my test (at 22) last year and a Mk7 was my first car, car and insurance all in was under 2k and its genuinely a pleasure to drive. Good reliable cars, nice to drive but this era of Ford design is my least favourite. To my eyes the design lines inside and out feel disjointed, and there are random angles/shapes that look like an accident together, yet it still looks dull. I loved the 80s-90s Ford design language, brought in by the Seirra , the Escort, Orion and Granada, even the Transit that followed it, looked so joined up.

By far the fiesta has been the most enjoyable to drive, even if mine has a few issues with reliability. I like it! I had an early Mk 3 Mondeo, which was a lovely car of the same era. Beautifully simple geometric design and handled very well. Alas, towards the end, it let in moisture and would go mouldy. Back then, the most mechanical work I could do was to steam clean the interior to get rid of the mould, which became a frequent thing to do. No garage wanted to even try to fix it! It was probably just a seal somewhere but it got chopped in for a Mk IV Mondeo. However, it wasn’t the same. Then I realised my dream and got the Rover (bye Mondeo!) and now I certainly can fix things!

I really like this Fiesta. Front fascia reminds me of the Transit Connect, dash of the 2000 Ford Focus, as well as the taillamps from the Focus 3 & 5 door. I am still baffled by power front windows while in the US we have full power windows, I do not understand why. This definitely would make a great foul weather vehicle to utilise, while keeping the rest of your fleet from dreaded rust. Definitely would go to an a/c specialist to inspect why no a/c; definitely will help even on cool, damp days to keep the windscreen and side windows free of mist. I don't think we ever got heat front windscreen except decades ago on Ford vehicles, since I believe what Ford used interfered with safe viewing out the windshield. And I do know certain GM vehicles, notably Cadillac, used heated windscreen for a while. I think it is vital in climates like yours in the UK 🇬🇧 as well as cold regions throughout the US. Great video as always!

a typical fault with any of the fiesta mk5/6 is a sticky gear lever, dont panic, go under the car pull the plastic bit off the gearbox where the gear cables go in, in there u will see a big iron weight that moves around a bit, take it off clean and lube up the shaft, in fact lube up every thing that moves in there, u should be good for another 100,000. another little odd thing, the fiesta seems to like snapping the left front coil spring, ive had 3 fiesta all done the same thing, also fixed a good few for other people, same spring, on the up-side the spring is cheap and not to hard to change ya self.

That is a totally different car to the one you rescued. It seems a very competent little car. Hope the owner gets their licence in it. I reckon you have doubled the value.....oh, double nothing is still nothing....that is not what I meant.

This little bugger reminds me of my 2000 Ford Focus Se 5-speed I got for my graduation from high school.

Looks like there's a lot of head room in the back! Is the car that tall? I've only seen proper reviews for the newer models and they don't seem to have a lot of head room... I'm a bit tall (183cm) and I wonder if someone like me can fit in the back too. (Yes, I think about my friends) So just to give myself a rough idea, how tall are you?

im buying a 1.2 version so i can keep some money in my account instead of trying to feed my merc s500. no joke, i drove it the other night and i loved it. , i like really small cars or really big ones, mid range cars seem boring .

I Bought mine off a guy who runs a pizza shop, Paid £100 for it. Used to be an ex delivery car until the clutch failed and it was left to rot. I fitted a clutch and It sailed through the MOT.

Yes, the Ford QuickClear is a Ford patent. I think that Jaguar Landrover still have access to it though.

The boot leaks. The car gets stinky damp.Main entrance point is third brake light gasket. Otherwise its really good.

How do I clean the front lights if they turning brown out of dirt?

You never closed the dashboard vents, as in closed them, you move the vent to the side to close the vents off. Now that is Clever!

I was looking for one of these a couple of years ago but couldn't find one I liked and got a MK1 Focus instead, I'd definitely have preferred the Fiesta though.

Just got this car, in for Mot at the moment then get to finally drive it from next week once my old car has sold 😅 much more practical for my small family than the mini 😂

The three door was always much better looking. The 5 door, like the 5 door Corsa B is ugly at the rear.

There's so many mk6 fiestas still on the road (more than any other car I reckon) and you very rarely see any corrosion on them

This is not a fiesta mk6. I look at YT and many people don't know what model they have :)

Do u know the prices of the fiesta and the fusion when new in 2002?? And there was never a 1.3 in the mk6

A friend of mine briefly had a 1986 Granada Scorpio. Loaded to the max! Things you’d not find in cars in 2020! That car had switchgear still seen in this era of fords.

i had a L reg granada scorpio 2 litre back in 2009 and it had electric leather front and rear seats which is very rare for the back seats to recline in a old granada, i gave £250 for it back then.. alot of car for little money

Don't forget that the Zetec engine range was originally called Zeta, but was renamed IIRC when Catherine Zeta-Jones (amongst others) objected
@byronmills59524 жыл бұрын
Lol! It had nothing to do with Catherine Zeta Jones.... Lancia owned the trademarking rights for the use of the Zeta name.

Id like to think she was spending her Darling Buds of May cash of legal battles with Ford

@@furiousdriving My father in law is drinking mates with her own father - and I know exactly what she splashed out on with her initial Darling Buds of May cash - and it wasn't legals battle with Ford sadly! She went straight out and bought a brand new red H plate Mazda Mx5- I used to bump in to her whilst filling up my Hillman Imp at our local village garage back in the early 90s - it still.exists too . 😃

good old zetec engine, its sad Ford has pretty much retired it now, the only car offered with it now is the Brazilian made KA+ with the 1.25 zetec engine, everything else is using that new 3 cylinder that enjoys randomly catching fire

i thought about buying a new ecoboost ford. sure they are fast. but... i always feel like they don't go at lower RPM. Sure the Focus Active is a ton and a half, and then there's the oil bathed timing belt... (yes, rubber belt) i gave up. no new brand really makes me wish for one new reliable car.
