Have a stage 2+ APR MK6R. It's starting to show it's age, had to replace rear shocks, fix a dead power window, reseal the sump, replace the purge valve and evap canister, there's a few mystery oil leaks left to be sorted out, and some bushings need to be replaced soon, but I love the thing to death. 6Rs seem to be becoming more and more rare so thinking it might be worth focusing on longevity/reliability mods instead of drooling over big turbo upgrade kits.

I agree MK4 R32 double or more the price of a mk 5 in Australia I have a mk 6 and they only sold 5.5 k in Australia so not common sold around 45 k mk 7 r,s

I do as well, I think they are one of the nicer looking Rs. The MK5 and MK7 stuff all looks very similar between golf, GTI and Rs. However the MK4 and MK6 I feel have the largest difference in looks between it's counterparts.

You will see the engine again in the spring when I bring the TT in for tuning, hopefully sans for misfire and oil leaks, LOL Will upgrade the fuel pump and do all the maintenance items. We should do a dyno then as well.

I have a mk6R on apr stage 3 with hpfp & the tte420 turbo but for some reason I hit fuel cut or ignition cut on wide open throttle in 3rd gear & it idles weird but when driving normal the car is totally fine do you have any idea what that could be?

Can be a number of things, but a bad coil definitely can cause those symptoms under load but drives normally when at idle and partial load. I had this happen to me last week.

Although you're commenting on a MK6 video I assume because you mentioned IS38 that you're talking about the MK7 platform. If so I would look at Tunezilla, you can buy a cable from them and they have lots of tuning options available for that platform. If you look at our Tunezilla videos' you will find a link for a discount code as well in the video description. I run TZ on my daily btw.

I've got a nice murdered out mk6 r with 180ish k,s I've bought a full turbo back xforce system the turbo muffler delete and charge pipe that I haven't fitted it had a antz intake kit when I got it I've tested it 0-100 with a GPS performance annalizer and it gets 4.7 consistently so not sure were to go now as I don't want to push it hard and it must have had something kind of tune already. Also runs out of fuel still showing 1/4 tank guess it's the gauge? Anyone out there that could help me would be highly appreciated especially if your in Australia sad to see the condition of this car makes me glad Australian weather prohibites rust.

It could have been okay for a body kit. If it's been hacked up but still works/runs, I'd say sell it to someone who wants to put a kit on it - it's the perfect car for that kind of project, unless there was more wrong with mechanically.

i have one that keeps giving me a code for low engine temp and i cant seem to figure it out ... any help would be awsome overheats in summer if im not running a/c . have replaced both thermostats twice . ecu. coolant pump

Have you checked your radiator? Plugged radiators can cause a whole lot of sadness.

@ianhust2125 that doesn't mean it's not plugged in some of the tubes. Also, you may need to check the coolant passages between the head and block. It could be a simple as you got a defective replacement for water pump/thermostat, but it could also be plugged coolant passages in the head/block or the radiator (or both). *there's also the possibility you have a trapped air pocket in the system. Some engines and cars are notoriously hard to bleed.

@ianhust2125 another possibility is a failing sensor. I've had sensors that were out of spec/range, but still "worked". Check the wiring for green fuzzy stuff. Oxidized wiring will cause a major problem if it's left alone.

My mechanic was at the last of his ideas at the ecu lol had the bottom end replaced and this happens after a while of driving unless it is cold out or I have the ac on it seems to be some sort of issue where the ecu won't tell the fans to come on . We have replaced temp sensors as well
