MK7 GTI UPDATE | How to break in your clutch

As you guys know i have a new clutchHere are my thoughts on how to properly break in your clutch to avoid premature failures and maintain the integrity of the clutch upgrade. This also applies for a new OEM clutch.

Another New Jersey Guy just got the Southbend clutch and clutch/flywheel kit install a few weeks ago.... 350 miles.... slow.... 350 to go ....

Good info didn't know shit about having to break a clutch in. Off topic question I finally found a GTI was wondering what you thought 20k for a 2016 GTI SE with performance and lighting package. The car is manual and has 20k miles on it.

Try to negotiate a bit maybe 1-2k off. The SE with those features is still a +31k car. If carfax is clean sounds good

CarFax is clean just has an open recall on the suction pump. I will def check it out and see if I can haggle and bring the price down a bit.

Did you get bad shutter/choppiness off the line in first or in reverse when breaking in the new clutch. Just installed a DKM stage 3 and it is super rough/jerky from a stop.

You need to get used to the new release points. It takes a little while

hey did you shutter ever go awayduring or after breakin? i just installed the same clutch and just off the line the shutter is really bad, noise seems to be up there as well

@@conorpayne7563 hey mate, I have the same problem. Stutter is really bad in first and reverse, only my first day of the clutch being in with a resurfaced flywheel. After a month, how is your car ? Just wondering if it goes away

@@THECB12340 yes and no, the clutch i bought has unsprung discs which definitely adds to the jerkyness. But after a few thousand km. Its definitely alot better. Whether that's the clutch breaking in, or me getting more used to it, I'm not sure. I imagine a bit of both

@@conorpayne7563 my clutch is also unsprung. It’s a Sachs organic uprated OEM clutch. I had to get my dual mass flywheel resurfaced too which is why I have been worrying. What car do you have ?

nice!. I want to see a video soon pushing that JB4. Also are you going to show any launching and how bad is that for a stage 3 clutch or will that stand that type of abuse?

itll take that abuse after break in ofcourse. Its going up on a dyno soon.

Shortens the overall life span or the clutch could loose 100 of its torque rating

Do we need to break in clutch and flywheel for automatic gearbox? I just had my clutch and flywheel changed on my DSG DQ200 Gearbox on a Golf MK6

Yeah i made sure that i put it in every gear stop and go traffic. I went with the rsr, hopefully it holds when i go is38 in the future.
