Same for me lol. I actually just skipped that part and was thinking of going giving it to someone to check other power supplies (thought that was the issue). And then i saw your comment and tried it. I thought no way it would be that simple plus i didn’t really see any dark spots on the ram but tried anyway with eraser and cotton ear things to remove the eraser. Thanks so much! I was worried asf thinking my computer was broken but in reality just needed a cleanup (haven’t cleaned it since July 2018 when I got it) . After I cleaned it up it stopped restarting but randomly wouldn’t boot to windows and I opened BIOS and was able to boot windows from there and it updated an restarted my pc and everything seems fine now. Guess this was a wake up call to why I should take care of my computer better.

@@MacCoyzkie so I recently got a virus on my PC so I hard reset it to whipe all my data then my PC just kept turning on and off so I tried the ram method and that didn't work is it possible that the virus messed up my entire PC or am I missing something
@MacCoyzkie
@MacCoyzkie 4 жыл бұрын
@@hello-4503 i think the only pc component that a virus can destroy are your drives and if the virus is really potent it could also destroy your motherboard. I haven't heard of a virus destroying the processor, gpu and rams. In your case you could never get to backup your files and the only solution is have a clean installation of windows. On the other hand, also consider the solutions in this video before doing a clean installation of windows
@MacCoyzkie
@MacCoyzkie 3 жыл бұрын
@Tray if there is any that is a bit scary but i haven't experience something like that and hopefully will never experience it. Also i doubt that this is possible since motherboard bios are different from each manufacturer and there is no way a virus could download the latest bios for a specific motherboard, run it and shut itself down to destroying the motherboard. Plus i don't think flashing bios using your boot drive is possible, it needs to be in a specific usb port (with "flash bios" indication) to update a bios at least for the motherboards of 2021

Guys I know how to fix it. If reseating the ram doesn't work use a screwdriver, make sure the power supply is still plugged in but turn the switch off, press the power button a few times to make sure its off. Hold the screwdriver on the 2 pins sticking out where it says CMOS on the motherboard usually on the lower right or left for 15 seconds then try to turn it back on. I was getting a boot loop for 5 hours tried literally everything re-seating ram, everything.... and this is the only thing that worked.

Very important: I just had this problem and even more lot of times the pc was starting but no display at all, sometimes boot loop. I checked the cpu and I noticed there was some green plasticky residues on the contacts pads, I removed them with a needle and this probably solved the problem. I say probably because I did this few minutes ago but I believe it will work fine now because every pin on the cpu has different functions and those residues were probably causing current interruptions between cpu and motherboard.

PLEASE READ UPDATE BELOW FOR SOULTION THAT ENDED UP FIXING THIS ISSUE FOR ME!!! (initial post) From my most recent experience with a PC that would reboot, I learned that the easiest thing to do before you start looking into the hardware is to first look at certain drivers. I had a PC that would reboot periodically while gaming. I thought I had an issue with my CPU cooler. I replaced it with a better cooler, but that didn't fix the problem. What I did was download a monitoring software called HWinfo and GPU/CPU load testing program called Cupid Powermax. I would first start the monitoring process with HWinfo and then start load testing the CPU. As soon as I started the test for the GPU, my PC would reboot. This happened every time I ran both load test together. My first guess was that I had an issue with the graphics card, but I decided to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. That seems to have fixed the rebooting issue. I'm not sure if I had corrupt drivers or not, but my guess is that a Windows update may have caused this issue a while back with their last big update. UPDATE!! What actually ended up fixing the issue was to reinstall Windows 10. That was many months ago and the issue hasn't even happened again.

SOLVED: Recntly my PC windows 10 would randomly freeze then restart itself. I've tried a lot of different things such as reinstalling windows, doing malware scans, disk clean up, and disk defragment, all which is due to me thinking its a software issue, but it wasn't. For my final attempt I ended up actually opening up my computer and cleaning the hardwares. to my surprise there was A LOT of dust inside, especially on my fans. After cleaning and dusting off my computer then putting everything back in. The computer finally stopped having random freezes and restarts. My issue was definetly caused by too much dust inside of my computer. I felt so stupid at the end but im really glad I solved it and dont have to buy a new computer. 2 days now and still good.

@MacCoyzkie
@MacCoyzkie 3 жыл бұрын
yes that's not normal. The only thing i could think of first is the cpu or gpu might be reaching it's temperature limit. You said it only happens after 5 hours, that is plenty enough to make the cpu or gpu overheat when both heatsink are not working, it's not common for gpu but i think it is your cpu(processor) temperature is getting to high causing the automatic restart. To check the temperature use msi afterburner, just run the software and you will see your gpu and cpu temperature. Idle must not be more than 60c, on heavy load must not be more than 90c

Now I built a new pc (ryzen 5 3600) and my rtx 2060 super doesnt seem to want to arrive. I placee the gtx970 back in it because in my old pc, downclocking it with msi afterburner worked to solve the crash. But now the pc decides to crash and restart on its own with a kernel power error. My question is, is the gpu at fault, or do I have faulty hardware? Been stressing out cuz I spent 1700 (canada, shipping, covid) and need to be sure its really the gpu

Wether or not I get a response, I dont know but worth the shot. Had this problem where suddenly my pc shut itself on, even did the "shutting down" screen. Turned it back on, and after a little while of running again it turned off again. Then, it did the constant off and on rebooting. I talked with a friend who is pretty knowledgeable about computers and he came over to check it out. Long story short, we checked a few different things eventually resulting in taking out one of the ram sticks, then swapping to check the other which got the computer to boot up normally. Used it for some time, updated and played a couple games and everything seemed okay, so figured maybe one of the ram sticks wasn't good. Came home from work today and noticed the ssd light was on which isn't normally on when the computer is powered off normally which I did the night before. So, back to square one, I searched and found this video. Tried the first few steps and after seeing the bit about cleaning the ram sticks I figured that made sense as messing with them seemed to make a difference previously. Did that, tried both at the same time, 1 at a time and swapping them 1 at a time and still no progress. Curious if anyone maybe sees this comment if they could have anymore input as to what other thing to try. I can still check other components but I'm quite positive based on what happened previously, it has something to do with the ram. Thanks in advance for any comments
@MacCoyzkie
@MacCoyzkie Жыл бұрын
if you already clean the ram sticks the way it was suggested in the video and still doesn't work, i suggest try those ram sticks in your friend's pc and see how it goes. If it worked normally after some tests then this could be a motherboard ram slot issue, maybe hardware or it just needed dust cleaning. Obviously if your friend's pc with your ram sticks didn't work then that could be your ram sticks.

@@MacCoyzkie UPDATE: Ordered a power supply test kit to try to do what i can before assuming an expensive part is a problem and buying it without knowing for sure. plugged it in and all numbers seemed good. plugged the 24 pin cable back in and tried starting the computer again. started fine. about 30 minutes later it shut down (with shut down screen and all) and went back to the turning itself on and off as was happening before. so, did the same process again, plugged the 24 pin into tester, numbers were good, plugged the 24 pin back into motherboard and it started normally again. so, my question now, is do we think that would be a cable problem, a connection problem, or maybe a motherboard issue, as i no longer think it is the power supply or ram sticks.

hello I’m having a very huge problem with my pc . So at first it was in a boot loop then it wouldn’t turn on then it turned on with no display and now it’s back in a boot loop . So when I was gaming I accidentally knocked out my power supplies cord not once but twice first time I plugged it back in and it worked fine second time I plugged it back in and went to bed . So the next afternoon I go to get on and it was in a boot loop so I go to trouble shoot it and at first my cpu light was on from my mother board so I go to fix it and it doesn’t work so I try everything I know like switching ram sticks and taking out your cpu for any bent chips . Literally everything nothing worked so I looked online and seen the eraser on ram sticks method I try that and now it won’t turn on at all so I switch back to my old stuff and it still wouldn’t turn on . So now I’m really worried but I switch back to my upgraded parts which are my power supply gpu and mother board . Then it turns on but now my gpu light is on and my display won’t show up . So I keep trouble shooting and trying to figure out what the actual problem is because when this happened before my ram sticks were in incorrectly so I flip those around and the display still won’t show up so now this morning I flip the ram sticks again and now my DRAM light on my mother board is on . So I took everything apart and cleaned it and now my cpu light is on again and it’s in a boot loop once again I honestly have no clue what to do next .

i have just bought a new and better 80 gold power supply and it still restarts, new ram, new graphics card, I even brought it to a store for them to diagnose it, they concluded with the power supply, so it's changed, but still it happens to me... I'm just wondering, is it possible that the cables can be squeezed so that it doesn't give all the power it should? could the outlet be the issue?
@MacCoyzkie
@MacCoyzkie 2 жыл бұрын
wait.. when they diagnose it were they able to make it work in their pc shop or not? if it worked in their shop there might be a problem in your power outlet, low power draw at times causes pc restarts. btw also double check the front panel connection perhaps the power on was placed in the reset. more info here kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqm1q39rjKt1b8U

hey I just swapped my psu recently (evga 750w to Thermaltake gf3 1000w) along with new gpu installation (for 4090 install) and then later some ssds (m2 and sata SSD). My mobo is aorus z690 pro on f21 with 12700kf; Kingston fury 5200 32gb. The PC has been shutting off fine with previous psu and has been working for about 2 weeks with new PSU before the latest installation of new hard drives. However, after I turned off everything to install the new m2 and SSD, my PC has been having shutdown issues. The issue: my PC constantly turns back on after shutting down (shutdown /p, front panel etc) (double checked f_panel connections). I've turned off all the fast boot/wake on lan software things and it still boots up after a shutdown. I can still put PC to sleep and but the only way to shut off PC is holding the front power for 5s. I've tried removing all peripherals (usbs etc) and booted into safe mode and nothing helps - the PC just turns on after shutting down. Otherwise, the PC works fine and there are no issues at all. What else can I do to troubleshoot? Is it really a psu issue or perhaps mobo/and or front panel? I am running out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

if you're in windows 11 that is the issue since it has a lot of graphics issues. if you're in windows 10 try to DDU the current gpu driver kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaese5uZrb-HqaM because this might have something to do with the previous gpu driver. now if the problem is the same after doing so this might have something to do with the new psu. check it by using one of these kzbin.infoYrC3PlflLq0

My PC has a different problem but still similar - I was just using my PC normally and then it did "Your device ran into a problem and we need to restart." but I didn't have time to look at the stop code. Now I can't load up the screen and it keeps going on for around 5 seconds and going off for 5 seconds and doing this over and over, what do I do?
@MacCoyzkie

either your psu is failing or there is power fluctuation around your area. you can confirm this by having your pc tested at a friend's house or the local shop where there is no power fluctuation
