@Tray if there is any that is a bit scary but i haven't experience something like that and hopefully will never experience it. hey I just swapped my psu recently (evga 750w to Thermaltake gf3 1000w) along with new gpu installation (for 4090 install) and then later some ssds (m2 and sata SSD). My mobo is aorus z690 pro on f21 with 12700kf; Kingston fury 5200 32gb. The PC has been shutting off fine with previous psu and has been working for about 2 weeks with new PSU before the latest installation of new hard drives. However, after I turned off everything to install the new m2 and SSD, my PC has been having shutdown issues. The issue: my PC constantly turns back on after shutting down (shutdown /p, front panel etc) (double checked f_panel connections). I've turned off all the fast boot/wake on lan software things and it still boots up after a shutdown. I can still put PC to sleep and but the only way to shut off PC is holding the front power for 5s. I've tried removing all peripherals (usbs etc) and booted into safe mode and nothing helps - the PC just turns on after shutting down. Otherwise, the PC works fine and there are no issues at all. What else can I do to troubleshoot? Is it really a psu issue or perhaps mobo/and or front panel? I am running out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

@MacCoyzkie3 жыл бұрын
yes that's not normal. The only thing i could think of first is the cpu or gpu might be reaching it's temperature limit. You said it only happens after 5 hours, that is plenty enough to make the cpu or gpu overheat when both heatsink are not working, it's not common for gpu but i think it is your cpu(processor) temperature is getting to high causing the automatic restart. To check the temperature use msi afterburner, just run the software and you will see your gpu and cpu temperature. Idle must not be more than 60c, on heavy load must not be more than 90c

just a theory, this might be your power outlet fluctuating. try using avr or ups to confirm. If you already have those and still having the same problem then i think this is a broken psu or not working properly

@@MacCoyzkie I don't have ups. I shifted to a new place where electric voltage is very low and fluctuates. Since then this issue started. But I have a very goos Corsair psu connected to my smart invertor that acts as ups for power back up.. Isn't that enough? Is ups a must have?

i would assume that the front panel IO might be faulty, because even if you jumble the connections of the power button/reset button etc, it will never break the motherboard. My old pc used to crash with colored screen. I replaced the PSU, still was happening. I replaced the GTX970 with an old GT420 I had and the crashing stopped. Now I built a new pc (ryzen 5 3600) and my rtx 2060 super doesnt seem to want to arrive. I placee the gtx970 back in it because in my old pc, downclocking it with msi afterburner worked to solve the crash. But now the pc decides to crash and restart on its own with a kernel power error. My question is, is the gpu at fault, or do I have faulty hardware? Been stressing out cuz I spent 1700 (canada, shipping, covid) and need to be sure its really the gpu
@MacCoyzkie4 жыл бұрын
may i know what is your psu? I think this is a bios problem with that kernel thingy. can you reset the bios to default? Do that by removing the mobo battery for 5mins and place it back again. @MacCoyzkie2 жыл бұрын
if it worked in the repair shop then there is something wrong with the electrical power in your house. Your ups needs to be 30% or more higher than the devices you'll plug into it, less the result will be the same. If you're using an extension cable perhaps that might be the problem so try using something else

@@Mrjadoo-ol8bn the utilization fluctuates depending on the workload. Cooler master psu calculator gives you and idea but that is not stable. yep that is definitely something to do within software stuff. Try clearing cmos first and here's how to kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWrLqniGiauFZ5I and if it still doesn't work this might be difficult to fix. If you are using ssd as boot drive try to remove any other drives and just leave your ssd and boot your system. Wether or not I get a response, I dont know but worth the shot. Had this problem where suddenly my pc shut itself on, even did the "shutting down" screen. Turned it back on, and after a little while of running again it turned off again. Then, it did the constant off and on rebooting. I talked with a friend who is pretty knowledgeable about computers and he came over to check it out. Long story short, we checked a few different things eventually resulting in taking out one of the ram sticks, then swapping to check the other which got the computer to boot up normally. Used it for some time, updated and played a couple games and everything seemed okay, so figured maybe one of the ram sticks wasn't good. Came home from work today and noticed the ssd light was on which isn't normally on when the computer is powered off normally which I did the night before. So, back to square one, I searched and found this video. Tried the first few steps and after seeing the bit about cleaning the ram sticks I figured that made sense as messing with them seemed to make a difference previously. Did that, tried both at the same time, 1 at a time and swapping them 1 at a time and still no progress. Curious if anyone maybe sees this comment if they could have anymore input as to what other thing to try. I can still check other components but I'm quite positive based on what happened previously, it has something to do with the ram. Thanks in advance for any comments
@MacCoyzkie Жыл бұрын
if you already clean the ram sticks the way it was suggested in the video and still doesn't work, i suggest try those ram sticks in your friend's pc and see how it goes. If it worked normally after some tests then this could be a motherboard ram slot issue, maybe hardware or it just needed dust cleaning. Obviously if your friend's pc with your ram sticks didn't work then that could be your ram sticks.

@@MacCoyzkie UPDATE: Ordered a power supply test kit to try to do what i can before assuming an expensive part is a problem and buying it without knowing for sure. plugged it in and all numbers seemed good. plugged the 24 pin cable back in and tried starting the computer again. started fine. about 30 minutes later it shut down (with shut down screen and all) and went back to the turning itself on and off as was happening before. so, did the same process again, plugged the 24 pin into tester, numbers were good, plugged the 24 pin back into motherboard and it started normally again. so, my question now, is do we think that would be a cable problem, a connection problem, or maybe a motherboard issue, as i no longer think it is the power supply or ram sticks.

@@devinem24 if there is anything it is the motherboard or you could also consider outlet power if you had power fluctuation in your area. since we already come to this, can you try testing out the pc without the case? i mean place the motherboard on its box and test it all outside the case because this might be shorted inside the case

@@MacCoyzkie i only have 2 cpu fans and electric fan. The area is too small that only kids kay can fit

@@otiknologyytchannel once a year will be enough, the only usual thing that might break a pc is overheating because of too much dusts.
