I feel like a noob again since I haven't played mkx in a long time. I haven't tested out all the characters yet but so far I'm liking scorpion a lot. I know most of his moves are unsafe on block but I like his variations. I just don't know which variation I play the most though. I enjoy this video series.

I’m 39 and haven’t played since MK4 and Trilogy! I wanted to get back into it, so my husband bought me MKX for Christmas last year. Hilarious how rusty I was when I first played it! 😆 But I’ve gotten A LOT better. Scorpion has been my main since I was like 10 years old. My goal right now is to get really good with him again.

True tips to get from casual to competitive in MKX. Step One: Drop the franchise face Characters (this works in every Fighting Game) example: Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, Liu Kang (They always get nerfed day one) in the same line of thinking, forget about character loyalism. Step Two: look at the Characters with more move-sets and Special moves, better frame data on block and mobility; for example: Ermac,Cassie Cage, D'vorah, Jackie Briggs, Erron Black, Jhonny Cage, Kothal Khan, Mileena,Sonya Blade, Alien, Kitana,(secret top tier: Ferra Thor). Step Three: of the mentioned good characters female hitbox characters (Alien Included) are outstandingly hard to get comboed so in this game Female = top tier.( Side note: Ermac low crush most low attacks with plus on block strings and unreactable 50/50s, Kothal Khan has plus on block strings, Erron black has a lot of unreactable 50/50s) etc. . Step Four: specialize in one of those characters. Step Five: Congratulations, your character turned you into a pro.

I don't play MK anymore, but the eventhubs blurb on these videos being geared to "teaching a man how to fish" grabbed. I have to say I was not disappointed. This is stuff that you can apply to any fighting game...great stuff

This was actually quite informative, it gave me good steps on how to learn a character and decide if it fits my playstyle. I am so new that I don't even have a playstyle, but I guess I know what I'm generally going to be comfortable with? I know this game still has a huge community and honestly just the fast paced gameplay seems more fun than MK1 as MK1 seems too slow for my pace and so far MK1 doesn’t have some of my favorite characters playable like Goro, Cassie Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax and Jacqui and the list just goes on and on and let’s not forget my boy The Predator is in this game as a guest as well.

I watched two tutorial videos before this one and they just ended up confusing me even further, which is the exact opposite intention of a tutorial in my opinion. I'm having the biggest character crisis in any fighting game ever. Cyrax and Kabal have been my mains since MK3. I started with Sub-Zero in MKX. He's fun but I like characters that have more variety and options with their combos. Reptile was really fun to play in MK9 but something about him doesn't feel right in MKX. I used Kenshi for a while. Started using Liu Kang and Ermac lately. I'm just not really feeling anyone. blahhhh

I have a favorite character but I'm not sure what kind of playstyle I prefer. For example, I've played Commando Kano extensively and I like it, but I find myself playing Cutthroat the most because it's the variation with the most combo potential (at least I think). I also started with that one because several strings reminded me of MK9 Kano. I have tried again and again to play with Cybernetic but for some reason for me it feels harder than Cutthroat, contrary to most people's experience. Is there any easier way to get a feel for what one's playstyle is? Also a bonus question, how do you pick a second character? I want to pick a character that plays nothing like Kano and sort of fills in the spots he lacks strength in, but I still can't find a character that fits.

Alexander Wolf Kenshi just takes a lot of work, that's all. You need to be good at using MB Rising Karma top stop all advances, anti airs and counter poke. Every rising karma is a 30% combo that sends them fullscreen, letting your zoning begin.

Hello, now I'm super late and I'm not one of the boys or anything, but I'm sure you know by now that MKX is coming back to PC. I say stick to what you have if you run a good setup. Otherwise, the Xbox community is about as good (or bad) as PS4 community. But 2 things to keep in mind, most tournaments play on PS4 but if you want more people to play against online, PC and Xbox aren't region locked. I hope this was at least somewhat helpful :)

do you have a video that gos deeper than this such as explaining the frame rates, if a combo is safe on block if you cancel it halfway in. I noticed this because like the fatal 8 I also use quan chi and some of his combos are safe on block and if you finish certain combos you jus gave your opponent a 30-38% combo. I'm at the point in the game where I'm no casual and I'm better than advanced but not top tier or tournament status. Any videos on that type of stuff.
