MKZ AC evaporator sensor hack

My wires were a little different. 2012 MKZ/zephyr
btw - this plug is behind your glove box. This video shows the plug unplugged. Plug it back in once you get your pigtail in on back of plug.
Note -my blue splice plugs were too big. So I wound up just cramming wires into plug and taping.

Hi we have a 2007 MKZ. Front male harness does not have the vacant #3 port it has a blue wire. Having an issue getting the Female harness out.

What size wires did you use 14 or 18 gauge?

I just used some old speaker wire I had. Don't think it matters.

how many ohms in the resistor used?

39k ohm...see pic on video.

Do you plug it back in, after you do that?

@@jpritch2So, doing this, will make my AC work? (Same year, same car). Will it disable anything? Like the heater? I don’t understand how this makes the AC work without replacing the evaporator. But if this can save me $900, I owe you a big THANK YOU! 😮

yes. it works. I would suggest not running ac with the recirc button pressed. It could possibly make your compressor freeze up, although that has never happened to me. your sensor (which has failed) sends a signal to your ecu if it detects that your compressor is freezing up and turns off recirc. The resistor tricks the ecu into thinking everything is ok. which it is. good luck.
