Is there a way to export the humanized midi? For example, if i want to blend one shot sample and triggering it based un humanised midi would cause problems.

VERY cool Mikko, and the drums sound great! I'd love to see an option to increase the human factor. I feel like it does a great job humanizing the drumming, but it is still very subtle and does sound like a VERY tight drummer, which is great, but it would be awesome if we could make it even more dynamic and sloppy using a knob/slider (similar to GroveBass). Not to a point where it just sounds sketchy, but allowing us to increase the dynamics and latency/feel in 2 seperate controls would be SICK and would bring the product to a complete new level for sure. The plugin can provide drum sounds from The Beatles to Modern Metal, so it would be crazy if we could also make the virtual player sound a bit more like Ringo instead of Matt Halpern! XD

We actually have those controls on the background so implementing something like this is not at all difficult. After debating it we thought it could be easily misunderstood so for now we chose a set-it-and-forget-it solution.

Would really like it too, solution: make 2 modes "auto" and "advanced", this way, the controls are not apparent by default, switch to advanced to see them, this gives flexibility to those who want more. It's a no-brainer to me!

Honestly, I wish I had been able to get this drums way earlier in my time making metal music, because not only do they sound amazing but they're also free, with expansion packs that are very affordable I do have one question, have you guys ever considered making a virtual guitar plugin? (Along the lines of Impact Soundwork's Shreddage Series and ThreeBodyTech's Heavier7Strings). I think with how high quality your plugins are it'd be an amazing tool for those who want to make metal/rock music but for one reason or another can't play and record a live guitar

Does the humanizing function only work when the velocities are 127? For example, if allmy velocities were 120, would turning on this feature do anything?
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab 4 ай бұрын
It still shuffles the velocities around a little, and adjusts the timing. The humanise function is at its most extreme when it's working with a fast-paced 127 velocity input. We may also open up the features further in the future. -Kai

I will say, I am blown away by this plugin. The performance with my edrums is exceptional. I really like the guys at GGD, but the performance with edrum hi hats is a real let down and makes the playing experience more than subpar. I honestly wish I hadn’t spent all the money on all the packs, because the results I’ve gotten with ML drums, especially with the usability with my edrums, is night and day. I literally played my edrums for about 4 hours yesterday because I was so excited about the performance and sounds. This is an excellent plugin and at an extremely affordable price.

Great demo! As sort of a newbie to drum programming what is your suggestion for setting the velocities? With humanizing should the velocity be on full blast for heavier sections and then if the song requires a much more obvious light touch have the velocity adjusted manually? I guess I’m asking how to best set the velocities with this new feature?
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
You can set them all at 127 and get a very solid foundation with just the humanise button, but the optimal velocities are going to vary heavily depending on the song. ML Drums' humaniser is very intelligent, but it can't know when it's a soft section of your song. I'd say the 120-127 range are all still normal "extra hard" hits within the capabilities of a competent drummer. 110-120 are going to be more regular hits, then on the other end of the scale, 10-30 is going to be great for ghost notes. You can fill the blanks from there. -Kai

Hi guys, I really love the ML Drums and only thing I'm kinda missing is second crash on the left, but that's just me be little bit spoiled.:D But after watching this video I think one thing would be great addition and that is "velocity map" or something like that for every piece to kinda know the velocity sweet spot, how they were recorded. Every sampler is little bit different and maybe even some pieces can be different in one set. In this video seems that hard hits are rimshots and some samplers have rimshots separately. Or something like 80 for snare can be hard hit but for toms is too soft, crashes can be kinda smashed at 100 but china needs 120 to really sound like a china and so on. I don't say that this matters for ML Drums but it would be kinda cool to know and work with that and not spent hours and hours to find velocity values that works for ML Drums when you swiched from somethink else.
@scottykomer9992
@scottykomer9992 Жыл бұрын
Besides the smearing, If the parts are programmed with more velocity variation, will the humanize mode still add anything? Or does it just trigger when the same hit keeps happening? Also does it affect the first hit of a song? Or not kick in until it sees a pattern for a couple of hits?
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
First hit will obviously not have any fatigue on it. I recommend doing both manual variation and humanizing at the same time. You'll notice you need to do way less manual velocity adjustment. Like in this demo - this would have been good to do for me and I only touched the hihat edge articulation, snare rolls and ghost notes and a little bit on the end riff crash.

that snare roll could only be played by mangini, but at lower velocities, where you hear the snare a lot more. i think that, at higher values, the velocity variation is slightly greater in real playing. i felt it the most on the hi hats, in the middle section. anyway, great feature to have, and it certainly contributes to a more natural feel.
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, you could definitely get a much faster snare roll at lower velocities than this - El Estapario is a great example of just how fast you can get on lower velocities, and also a good indicator of how far the velocities will vary. Glad you're liking the new humanise function! -Kai
@Tryggvasson
@Tryggvasson Жыл бұрын
@@mlsoundlab yeah, estepario is really fast, but it terms of variations, i think he sounds more like a machine gun than an m4 :). or, rather, like a dj drum machine sped up in a loop. i guess it's a side effect, when you play that fast. plus, i think his drums are extremely compressed, otherwise those low velocity hits wouldn't be heard, so that's another reason. that's why i like mangini more. he still has expression, and punches the drum a little more, even at high speed.

@@enilsonssantos6690 Under development but I'm quite confident when I say it sounds more realistic than most of the drum software out there. Quite many drum programs out there are single shots with only volume differences. Quite many have super unrealistic velocity volume curves where ghost notes are unusable because they're unrealistically quiet. Quite many drum programs have poorly tuned drums. Quite many drum programs have overly processed unrealistic sounding samples. Quite many drum programs force the user to waste years of their lives dealing with Kontakt's quirks. I'm happy to say that in all these factors we're top of the line. ☺
