I am a 54 year old lady from Austria, lifelong visual artist and educator, currently studying computer science again. I am using this summer vacation to recreate your entire NOC playlist. Instead of custom calcAngle you can use Math.atan2(y, x) it returns radians angle betwen the vector (0, y) and vector (x, 0), you will not have to check quadrants.

It seems like the angle would always be either pi or 2pi by your description
