ML63 AMG Update - More repairs and upgrades!

Welcome back!
Today I show you all the recent things I've been working on for the ML63 AMG. Although these are pretty simple, it changed the car a lot in a good way! Hopefully this vid helps you fix some stuff on your own car or give you ideas for your own projects!

Little tip here, when you pull windshield wipers off, you should raise the wiper position, otherwise the wiper spring asserts great force on the stud and either won't come off at all or jump off like yours did

Great vid! I should have done the power steering reservoir housing several months ago, I kept putting it off. Last month my power steering pump completely went out while I was driving the ML63. I had to have it towed to a shop and had the pump replaced. I just tackled the PCV valve replacement on mine the last 2 days and it was a huge pain to install without removing the manifold. I was shooting a video for it but didn't get a chance to finish the completion. The car looks really good with the black rims and headlights. You should look into the GT-R grill for the ML, I put one on mine a few weeks back and I love the look of it. I'm going to try to do a video soon and post it on my channel of the grille. Its a little hard to find but I got mine off aliexpress and it fit perfect.

Nice! I’ve heard the pcv valve is a pain to install cause it’s at the back of the engine haha I actually had a local shop do it for me after they diagnosed the lean codes. And thanks! I’ll check out the gt-r grill, I haven’t even heard of that for the ML but sounds interesting

Nice video.. I noticed you have the hood carbon fiber wrapped as well? Thinking of doing the same to my white ML350, not sure how it will come out..

Thanks! Wish I could tell you more but it was wrapped already when I got the car so I’m not sure how it was done or who did it, but they did a good job. So if you can find someone to do it well I think it could look good!

Great videos! Hey, I'm looking to buy a 2007AMG63 - it's been dealer-maintained all throughout but has high mileage 203K any suggestions on what to check for I'm concerned about large repairs but nothing is apparent it rides well no lights etc. Carfax indicates a clean record with service, even engine mounts have been replaced. thoughts/suggestions?

Sounds solid to me - check out @legitstreetcars m156 engine KZbin video; he goes over all the major issues they tend to have so you can ask the dealership about them

I’d say check out Alex Palmeri’s (@legitstreetcars) video on the m156 engine, because I think that’s this car’s potentially biggest issue. Other than that, I’ve heard of SAM module issues due to water leaks around the tail lights, power steering going out, always watch out for air suspension leaks/faults, and also mine has an intermittent shifting issue when cold. Overall it’s been a solid car for me, check out my recent vid on its reliability!

That steering noise could even just be a bubble in the system just keep bleeding it, don’t you have to bleed each caliper on the ML?usually you have a grease nipple type fitting that u put a hose on other end into a bottle loosen the bolt slightly then pump the brakes till the fluid comes through then pull the hose off caliper and do the same with the other 3 sides

Yeah true, but I tried replacing fluid and getting air out of the power steering system to no avail, changing the reservoir definitely helped though! And yes I bled each caliper through the bleeder valves, I might not have shown it on video, I’m not sure. Thanks for the comment!

Cool mods, the ML looks meaner with the black wheels and headlights. I recently picked up a 2007 and also had some issues with the wheels, but just painted the spokes. I left the lips in silver as they were in decent shape and I’m keeping the black/silver/chrome theme throughout. Other than that, I’ve pretty much left it alone as maintenance has been eating up most of the budget 😂 Where did you get the blacked out headlights? Are they HID?

Thanks! And nice! I bet that looks really good keeping up with the black/chrome theme. Maintenance can definitely add up, but once you’re caught up it should be relatively reliable! I got 1 headlight on AutohausAZ and the other on eBay - they’re Xenon but not Bi-Xenon like my OEM headlights were

@@monumentauto I should be doing videos on my adventure with the ML lol. Bought it with 101k and have around 106k now. I bought it in Oct and maintenance so far: oil change, radiator flush, air suspension compressor, PS pump, PS reservoir, serpentine belt, purge valve, vapor canister, HID bulbs, LED high beams, LED parking lights, tail light bulb Replaced an exhaust clamp, then removed both resonators lol (sounds awesome) Replaced non working Comand radio with after market android unit (looks stock) and added a backup camera Cosmetic: refinished headlight lenses, painted wheel spokes (black), new mats and seat covers front / back, full LED bulb all interior lights, AMG puddle lights A lot of the major underhood repairs were done under the extended warranty I purchased 🤓

Wow that’s a lot! Sounds like you’ve done a lot of nice interior/cosmetic upgrades too. I was looking into aftermarket head units but didn’t find one I really liked and mine already has a reverse camera which is nice. Also don’t want to spoil it, but I’ll have a new vid coming soon with the resonator delete and some other upgrades 😛 - stay tuned! Maybe you could just do a video tour of your ML and mention all the things you’ve done so far, I bet people would appreciate seeing it

@@monumentauto yea I’m thinking to do a catch up video. It’s important to do these so anyone who’s interested in these cars has a reference point. For what we paid, these a LOT of car for the money and the repairs seem to be mostly maintenance related from what my experience has been and a lot of what I’ve seen from others’ as well. Is the ml350 on coil springs or air? Cheapest way for coils is to cut a coil off but that’s sketchy, otherwise you would have to get bags or coilovers

I’m sorry I’m not sure. If it’s the same chasis number (like w164) you may be able to make it fit, but I don’t think it’s designed to fit

did you ever figure out why the aux battery sign was still coming?

No, my scan tool doesn’t pick it up and I haven’t taken it to a shop yet. So far I don’t notice anything not working

I think you need to do a reset after replacing. I replaced mine (both main and aux) as well and then had a reset done.

How are the AMG seats? Have you sat in non AMG?

I like the AMG seats, good adjustability, heated and cooled, good bolsters and leather quality. I have only sat in a few non AMG rental/loaner cars like the c class and glc but I didn’t pay much attention to if the seats were much different
