I can think of 6 solid options 1. Charlotte (Easily could support a team and I am surprised they don't have one already) 2. Montreal (Had a team and had good attendance before they moved into the other stadium that sucked) 3. Sacramento (Growing city and withing driving distance from Reno which is also growing fast) 4. Portland (Another growing city with minimal sports teams yet a lot of fans) 5. Salt Lake City (Not a huge city but big enough) 6. Oklahoma City (Another decent sized city with only a basketball team) I know Sacramento has a milb team but I think they can still support both.

Infinite Ouya You may think I'm crazy but I believe the White Soxs need to relocate to Indianapolis or Louisville, Nashville, or Charlotte. They are 27th in attendance, and with the Cubs being great again, there blue collar fans, and an ageing ballpark I don't think there is a place for them anymore and need to move elsewhere where they can draw more of a fanbase. When there lease expires in 2027 they need to relocate.

Salt Lake City would be a great spot for an MLB team. I've been saying it for years. That community loves and supports the Jazz whether they have a good or bad season. Fans of the MLS team there, Real Salt Lake, are hardcore. That is a place where an MLB team would succeed. Beautiful location to watch a baseball game too.

Honestly I would love to see MLB stick to international expansion with Montreal and Monterrey, Mexico. I'd actually prefer Mexico City but it's farther away from the rest of the teams and the altitude up there would make Coors Field look like the ultimate pitchers' park. I think they should expand to 32 and return to the 2 divisions in each league. NL East: NYM, PHI, WAS, MIA, ATL, CIN, PIT, MTL NL West: LAD, SF, SD, ARI, COL, CHC, STL, MIL AL East: NYY, BOS, BAL, TB, TOR, DET, CLE, MTY AL West: LAA, OAK, SEA, TEX, HOU, MIN, KC, CWS

My top 10 cities to get an expansion team (Most likely to least likely): 1. Portland 2. Charolette 3. New Orleans 4. Montreal 5. Vancouver 6. Las Vegas 7. Louisville 8. San Juan PR 9. Nashville 10. Jacksonville

Jacksonville is a nope, Florida can't handle 2 teams right now, how would they run with 3. Also northern florida is Braves Country. Montreal would work as the Quebecois are some of the rowdiest fans in the world. So maybe Charlotte, Not Tennessee, or Jacksonville, Puerto Rico would be risky to have a team in. New Orleans could work but its one or the other with Charlotte. Louisville is too small to have a franchise. Portland is almost a guarentee to happen, but that scratches Vancouver off the list, you cant have 3 pacific northwestern teams. Las Vegas wouldn't be able to support both a AAA team and an MLB team so that only works if the 51s move.

The 3.14napple Honestly it shouldn’t be an expansion, but a movement. The Marlins should come to Jacksonville, tons of people go to their minor league team the Jumbo Shrimp and many really want a real MLB team. The Marlins also have 0 support in Miami so there would be nothing to lose.

And there would be a near empty stadium. Mexico City fans are notorious for not supporting their teams. There is way too much competition there for the fans and the people there aren't that big baseball fanatics as they are in the north of Mexico. The ideal city is Monterrey where the fans are super loyal and you see sold out stadiums every week. Wages are also higher in Monterrey so they do have money to spend on tickets. Plus the city has a strong baseball tradition.

Indianapolis would be the greatest pick, we have a huge baseball culture in Indiana! The Ft. Wayne Tincaps (Low-A), Indianapolis Indians (AAA) and the South Bend Cubs (High A) have huge followings with their stadiums filling up regularly. Hell even the Non-MiLB team, the Kokomo Jackrabbits, Wabash Aces and Such have nice stadiums with big followings. We have so many Baseball fans here with Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, all within reach the state is split and Rivalries Occur. I have discussed to plenty of other Hoosiers about the Possibility of and Indiana Team and they almost always love the idea. With the Countries 16th Largest City (This includes Suburbs and Metro areas) there is a large population within City Limits to attend games, plus you add in all the people willing to travel to see baseball in Indiana already going to all the cities named before, i'm sure they would love to travel less for a ball club. I truly think Indianapolis could harbor a Profitable Baseball team with a huge fan-base and is hopefully on the short list for MLB. It is the only one of the 3 Big Sports in which we don't have a team. Its time to end that.

I think Buffalo is a very intriguing idea. They support the Sabres and the Bills passionately and all of Western New York and Northern New York would have their own team to root for and they would probably have a little fan base in Canada in the town's by the border. They could build a 35,000 seat retractable room stadium. After I saw this as someones pick and thinking about it I think baseball in Buffalo would be awesome!

A's are actually in talks with two sites. The first is the current coliseum site which they are in talks with the city of Oakland to buy land and develop a new ballpark (heck they could technically refurbished the current Coliseum if they want). They are also in talks to develop a ballpark at Howard Terminal by negotiating with the Port Authority. Either site would do really, so stay tuned with the Oakland A's later this year.

I think a city with an already established MiLB team could host an MLB team as well. Both got new ball parks within the past 10 years and are both very popular in the area

How about Calgary Alberta in Canada? By 2020, the population of Calgary will exceed more than 1,000,000, making the third largest city in Canada, behind Toronto and Montreal. I think Calgary should deserve a MLB franchise so it will bring the MLB closer to Montana, since Alberta only border Montana on the United States border. Recently Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers are doing good in the NHL. NOTE: Montana is about 147,358 square miles of land with a population about 1,029,000 people and the density is 7 people per square mile. So let's bring MLB closer to Montana.

I enjoyed the video and it makes for great discussion. My 2 cities for expansion are first Montreal, as long as they get a new Stadium I think they will get great fan support. Second my other city is kinda a wild card but it could work and that's Oklahoma City. That town loves it's sports and I think would have a great fan base. When New Orleans played there for the season that Katrina hit, Oklahoma City supported that team passionately like it was their own and then when Seattle relocated there they have one of the best and most passionate fan bases in the NBA. Again this is just my opinion but it's a lot of fun to discuss and debate this.

I like your idea of adding one new team to each league and splitting into four divisions. I'm in Canada so I am a little biased when I'd say I'd love to see a team back in Montreal but they have no stadium. There was talk in the 1980's about possible expansion to Vancouver as they do have BC Place but since then there have renovations there and I'm not sure if it is feasible to play MLB there. Personally I like Portland as a new franchise due to its proximity to Seattle. It is well known that Commissioner Rob Manfred has stated there will be no discussion of future expansion until the stadium issues in Tampa and Oakland are resolved. It appears we'll have to wait out a few more years to see how everything plays out. It's really cold here right now in Calgary Alberta so I really love anything about baseball especially with spring training due to start soon. Thanks for posting!

I don't think the prescence of an MiLB team is really that much of a roadblock. As you said, Charlotte is a good contender and already has one. If I were to create two expansion teams I would put in some combination of Montreal or Charlotte in the east and either Vegas or Portland in the west. I would be down for a team in my hometown of Vegas but it does seem like Portland is the likely frontrunner and I wouldn't be mad either way.

@richiemartinez8078
@richiemartinez8078 6 жыл бұрын
BallGamers I agree primarily off the fact that by at least 2020 there will be more people in Brooklyn than in Chicago and Chicago has two teams,the Dodgers were also in the top 3 in attendance from 1945-1957 usually finishing behind the Yankees or Braves and the Milwaukee Braves were one of the strongest box office draws during the 50's. The reason for the Dodgers ditching Brooklyn is deeper than attendance or even stadium issues. Look at how Dodgers owner Walter O Malley was a stockholder in the LIRR and wanted to construct a stadium on top of a LIRR station to increase passenger service on the LIRR while the power broker in NYC Robert Moses was anti LIRR and railroads,so the Dodgers leaving was more on the fact that O'Malley chose a dumb spot for a stadium in the 50's. As for the Mets and Yankees, a 3rd team would keep both franchises on their heels and force one team in particular that plays in Flushing to at least attempt to be competitive and I'd expect mlb to want a competitive NL team in New York,the money to be made from 3 baseball teams in the New York metropolitan area is astounding and would have better returns than the Nets just due to the fact that the Nets have become an utter failure. If you do remember the Nets were very popular between 2012-2014 in Brooklyn and around Brooklyn.
