@@enterchannelname7568 I don't have an answer for sure. lenses are made up of multiple glass elements and you don't always need all of them to get an image. Even if its only a filter they smashed, these aren't consumer cameras and replacing that filter will likely be in the thousands.

+T L S Oh, I misread your original comment. I thought you meant high-strength glass for the lenses. To that, I say that protective domes would restrict the movement of cameras that can move around on an arm like the ones behind the batter's box. They can also get droplets of water or dust and debris on them that would obstruct the camera-view. There are probably people working on ways to protect the cameras without sacrificing the camera's range of motion, they just haven't found a good fix yet.

it's probably better that they don't, because the glass breaking is what absorbs most of the blow. If the ball hits the camera and the lens doesn't buckle then the camera is absorbing the full blow and if something electrically goes wrong with the camera you're potentially down a $50k camera rather than a $2k lens
