Mullets were just part of the A's culture from the late 80s to the late 90s. Look up Jason Giambi's first career home run (titled: "TOR@OAK: Giambi hits first Major League home run"). You don’t just take roids and magically get jacked a week later. It still takes all the same time and hard work. It’s just you can make 3 years gains in 6 months. That’s why players today are outa shape(compared to other Pro sports) because the frequency of games doesn’t allow players to pump iron. Players who try and keep their bodies very strong are Usally hurt often because the body simple can’t keep up with a game everyday, and working out.(that’s where steroids would help).

Yup! I’m tired of Kuiper. He can’t pronounce people’s names and now he’s thinks it’s cool to try and scream like his brother all the time.

I think he hit 49 home runs as a rookie and he wasn't taking Anabolic steroids then. Great home run hitter with or without steroids.

You know really, if you look at this with perspective, it's almost ridiculous...The guy is so ripped, he's obviously on something. Like baseball at its core, is a pretty chill game, it's not so tough on the body like football, no constant running or skating like soccer or basketball or hockey...it really is almost the perfect universal sports pastime for everyone. But these guys in the 90s tried to turn it into a rock n roll spectacle...it's ridiculous really.

They said that the Boston fans were applauding the wrong team no they were applauding baseball. Somewhere between there and now a lot of people lost the love and respect for baseball.

Even if every player was on juice, McGwire was Paul Bunyan & no player other than Bonds could even reach such a level.
@PredatorKingdom4 жыл бұрын
For anybody discounting him over steroids always remember this you still need great hand-eye coordination and a great short swing like he had to even hit the ball like that as steroids does not help with those two things.
@jjwats124 жыл бұрын
No one discounts him. Just his home run totals. Even though he was a great hitter before 'roids, the steroids still greatly helped his hand-eye coordination and power. That equals a lot more home runs.
@nxs01524 жыл бұрын
When you're juicing, routine fly ball outs to the outfield become home runs. That's the difference.
@easteurthuggin72654 жыл бұрын
@@jjwats12 Actually it's a proven fact that steroids do no help with hand-eye coordination only power. You're born with hand-eye coordination you can't really teach that, without steroids McGwire always had great hand-eye coordination like Barry Bonds that's why he had so many walks in his career.
@easteurthuggin72654 жыл бұрын
@@nxs0152 In a way you're sort of right but McGwire always hit home runs before the roids so he naturally had freakish power. Steroids does help with power but it does not help with hand-eye coordination you can't take anything to get better at that unless you become Bionic Man. lol!
@jjwats124 жыл бұрын
@@easteurthuggin7265 ---- There is the belief that it helps with hand-eye coordination as well. I don't know though, I'm definitely not an expert. But it's a big advantage, whatever it all entails. That's why the number of HR's dramatically increase for players who have taken them, even despite getting older. And for me, it's only the fault of the McGwire, Bonds and company that people forget how good they were before steroids. That's what happens when you tarnish your reputation. Also, just makes you realize how incredible players like Babe Ruth were, to hit 60 HR's in a season.... before adding 3 new MLB teams and 8 extra games in 1961, when Maris broke his record.
