In 1962 the Netherlands Navy changed to anti submarine warfare(ASW) Away with aircraft cannons, bombs and rockets and over to passive sonobuoys and torpedoes. P2V7 Neptunes were converted to SP2H Neptunes. The carrier HNlMS Karel Doorman received Grumman S2A Trackers,. In 1969 the Breguet SP13A Atlantic was introduced and in 1982 the Lockheed P3CII Orion was added to the inventory. ASW went from reasonable to better to good and to excellent. In 2004 a weirdo secretary of defense skipped the Netherlands naval air arm and the rest is history.
