This company exhibited some of the worst manipulation and brainwashing I've ever seen in a mlm. So Im noticing in my church community that some individuals are trying to use small group meeting formats in the name of God to recruit to an MLM. Ive really seen this with ILM Academy. These people use religions to take advantage of people as an in group. It’s so much easier for them to come off as a trusting Christian, Muslim, etc. when they make others believe “I wouldn’t rip you off, I’m a practicing (insert religion here), and that goes against our practice, and I definitely wouldn’t deceive a fellow member of said (religion)”. Really sad, and beyond that these people often also think they’re helping these people in their religion. It creates a very easy in group.

If you want to identify a mlm/pyramid/ponzi scheme, look at both the money flow; is it going up from the bottom? = Scheme. Or down from the top? = Legit business. And then, what does the business spend the majority of their resources on? Is this recruiting new members in? = Scheme. Are there costs to enter? = Scheme. Or do they focus more on the product/services they're selling? = Legit business. The same can be applied to those selling any kind of courses. If that is all they do, that is how they actually make their money.

I was in Amway for 2 1/2 years and Im not going to lie bro I was duped hard. I quit probably a little less than a year ago, and have never bothered looking up anything on the internet about it while I was inside of it. Now I cant believe how bad I was deceived. They worked so hard to put walls up against everything I've seen in all these videos, and that in of itself is a red flag for me. When a huge number of "negative" people are literally pushing on the same points you tried to build walls around it. The level of subliminal messaging and controlling I have been through is painful, Im just happy I didnt ruin my life because of it.

One of the biggest flaws in MLMs is what they were discussing, I just don't think they knew the actual term for it, which is market saturation. MLMs have really low barriers to entry, and the barrier to enter a market is non-existent. Because of that, there's no true opportunity cost within a market because as Robert pointed out, every person in a given market could be a rep. This is a key indicator that it's not about sales, but about recruiting others to continue paying into the pool everybody pulls their "commission" from. The more suckers, the greater the money pool is. As long as the bottom continuously turns over, MLMs will never go away. It's why they prey on desperate people hoping to change their lives.

Thanks, Marco. I had a friend try to recruit me, glad I kept firm on my no and asked not to contact my wife either. It’s not right to promise people false hope.

What the MLM guy said about calculators was really funny. 😄 My least favorite MLM is Amway, because it is one of the oldest, and has caused strife and financial troubles in many, many, many families. Thanks for the giveaway.

I’m happy about my time in IML it taught me a lot about self improvement, and I made my team ALOT of money trading. However, I left when I realized it’s not about trading at all, just recruiting people. 🤦🏽♂️

I’m late but I absolutely hate beach body. So many “coaches” have terrible form and give harmful dietary advice. But they’re recruiting unqualified people who continuously recruit other unqualified people. I can’t take it!

what MLMs do to convince and outcast ppl is gaslighting. Every MLM is narcissistic. So it makes sense to look up into this topic too to understand the psychological impact and how it can come to pulling ppl in and creating that bubble of illusion

I became fascinated with this subject because I’m a true crime addict. I read and watched everything to do with the murder of his family by Chris Watts. He and his wife were very involved in the MLM Thrive.
