My parents have been in an MLM for over 10 years and they are still brainwashed and believe that they will "make it" and that it will provide financial freedom for them and future generations. I never stood up to them until I turned 18 when they kept wanting me to start until I told them it wasn't for me. My dad has since then believed I lost my 'dreams' and I don't believe in them and have a lazy "get rich quick" mentality because of my pursuit of content creation. Our relationship has never been worse and I can thank no one else but the MLM that brainwashed and took advantage of my parent's hard work ethic and dreams of an American dream. I'm so glad I found the Anti-MLM community because wow, this is crazy.

The one thing I’ve realized watching these, is that the ONLY time you’re treated like an owner is when you’re filing your taxes and taking on financial liability and then you’re REALLY on your own. I’ve heard many of these companies don’t give any assistance or tips and tricks for people filing that way for the first time.

You know. They say most small businesses fail in the first two years. I wonder if that number would change if all the MLMs disappeared?
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 3 ай бұрын
As in, you think most small businesses are actually just MLM consultants saying that they own a business? I...don't think so. I do genuinely feel that most legitimate small businesses fail due to a myriad of reasons, and this comes from my job which in part is related to helping people register their business in the state. I've frequently had people who are easily confused by the application (questions like, "Who is the requestor of the business", which is just asking who is requesting the formation of the business. The only two options given are organization or individual. If an organization didn't tell you to form the business, then it would stand to reason the requestor is an individual, namely, the person who will be the owner). Or they don't know what a registered agent is, which instead of calling someone, they could do a ten second Google search to find that out, instead of grinding their whole application process to a halt, making a phone call, and likely having to wait for me to call them back if I'm busy with another caller. If these little things trip them up, something like tax time is going to obliterate them (and most small businesses can't afford an accountant). Now, the statistic I would like to see is if online businesses have shifted that number about businesses closing in the first two years. With not having to pay for a physical location and possibly no employees, plus the rise of online content creators filing LLC's, I wonder if that closure rate has changed due to this.

I love that she mentioned that those in MLM's should move to legitimate sales because I've heard others say that in anti-MLM comments but good for her to say it out loud. For all the work to recruit someone and fees off of their commissions or push them to recruit a new person, they could instead be working for a real sales job and earn much more. And as pointed out, a legitimate company truly invests in their employees with all expenses paid for work-related trips. Paid Time Off is actually provided instead of masking it as "residual income", which isn't residual, it's the downline working their asses off to pay for those above them to slack off. I love that her company even encourages taking care of mental health and taking time off if they've been working too hard. Sounds like she's found an amazing employer and I wish her all the success!

It annoys me how these MLM lie to people, telling them that they could earn good money building a network, working hours to suit them. Total lies. They don’t tell people how much they’d have to spend or how much they’d lose, or even how working for MLM ruins your career profile. I’m not surprised by how much this girl lost. These MLMs have the nerve to dismiss them facts, gaslight and deny their problematic business model. All are scammers and liars

That is such a misconception in skincare in general, if you've never used products targeted towards "fixing" your skin, the first time you do, the results seem amazing and are very visible. However after that you might come across better products, but the results aren't as drastic and so you think it's b'cuz the products you first used are the superior products; no its b'cuz your maintaining and furthering the results from using products in general, and except for that very first time, your skin won't change drastically again. It's not that the first products you used were better, it's that the state of your skin was worse and the bare minimum would have been an upgrade. Once your skin starts healing you no longer have drastically visible results.

MLM is a trap for so many. I could relate to what she said about how MLM has you looking at every person as a prospect. Instead of building authentic relationships with people, there is always a hidden agenda. $4000.00 from Arbonne for 1 years work.... that's crazy. Did that include revenue received from selling the product directly to customers, or was she only receiving income from the sales of her downline?

Thank you for this excellent interview Marco! I lost a good friend to Arbonne and she’s still in 13 years later. I watch these videos because a) I can’t imagine how my ex-friend is still in and b) I hope she and all people in mlm’s will ‘wake up’. Robert Fitzpatrick is very serious when he calls mlm’s a cult in his Ponzinomics podcast, and that they are dangerous in that they manipulate people financially and behaviourally. Thank you again for exposing Arbonne and all mlm’s.

They still know its wrong but they still go back too that. Very interesting. Another thing is they always say it proudly but they cant look at the camera, or they say it shyly. Just found your channel, and loving it! And I love your guests push back on the "What is your why?" question. Good companies that are truly heart-centered and human centered ask this in order to encourage their employees or prospective employees to do honest self-reflection. MLMs ask this as a way to shame people into sticking with it and manipulatively use their why to keep them plugged into the business.

@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, but the "why" question for a regular company is just wanting to know why you feel you're a good fit for the job. I too hate it as well because at the end of the day, the genuine answer is "I just need a job to make money". But with an MLM, they want you to spill your guts with some sob story, which is very personal and invasive. The first version is a company wanting to know how you will be benefitting them (and yes, to also see if you'll be a good fit, sometimes). The second is a company wanting to know your pain points so they can weaponize it against you and prey on those vulnerabilities.

I'm at the part where you're talking about then training you to be manipulative. My best friend of over fifteen years joined an MLM a couple years ago. She knew what I thought of them; I have been very outspoken about it. I tried to just ignore that part of her life but I eventually avoided being around her. She sent friend request to all of my friends on social media. When she eventually confronted me about avoiding her I brought up the fact that it bothered me that she had sent all those friend request. She took that to mean that I thought she was shallow because the only reason she was sending them was for business purposes. I told her she is the last person I would ever label as shallow. I wish I would have been upfront from the beginning and told her the reason I think this is odd is that she isn't shallow and she should recognize what they're telling her to do. I'm not in assertive person is also why I would never have joined an MLM even before I realized what they were. She's no longer part of the MLM but it's only because it was a weight-loss one and she lost the weight she wanted and may have made a little bit of money and then left. I don't know whether she still sees it as something positive but the last time I spoke with her she said she wishes that I could just be happy that she had something that helped her reach some goals. Of course she and one of her family members also recently purchased a timeshare.

As others have said, get in very early or the other way is to simply be a fantastic salesperson and have zero sense of decency and morality. Basically, you need to be psychopathic in a sense. Most people don't have the ability to constantly charm others, be ruthless and stomp on that voice inside of you that says be a good person. The irony is there are many fields, including legit salespeople who earn more than the best MLM "business owners".

Here's the thing: if MLMs could honestly advertise themselves as side hustles for already-employed, financially stable adults, I could respect them. I think if you don’t already have a networking or if you are not « famous » or have a lot of audience, you can’t really make money on theses MLM. I have a friend and she does have a boutique and pretty good audience on Instagram and Facebook and make money out of Arbonne. She has the Mercedes and everything but idt she would have it without her « followers »

13:24 yoooooo she shut your "non pro civilian opinion" down trump loyally dawgs!!! 💯😂💯🤣. Seriously tho yeah these companies are scams but to call people psychopaths with zero professional bk ground in this area is ignorant dawgs! It's childish like as a child calling your brother stupid or dumb. You don't know these people at the type they might be crying themselves to sleep cause of what they doing but the money has got a hold of them. What u can say is that they straight up bad people. That is undeniable!!!

lol if you wanna be highly successful in the MLM business it requires you to sacrifice your morality. so i see what he’s saying. you lose your empathy and see genuine, or what could’ve been genuine relationships, as transactional &use people for $$$.

These videos make me want to join a MLM. These people just weren’t trying hard enough. Obviously someone is successful in the company. If the superior is making all the money why not work your way up to be the superior? Isn’t that the point?
@emyyyxx
@emyyyxx Жыл бұрын
… did you watch the video 😂. to climb to high ranks you have to get in early before it’s highly saturated. and if you are trying “hard” you literally are just using and abusing people. if you’re a sociopath this is perfect for you. but some of us are good people and have morality 🤷🏼‍♀️
