I’m a digital marketing consultant and strategist and it is both infuriating and comical as all hell watching grifters try to position themselves as experts on concepts they literally just heard about for the first time from some Reel/TikTok. These people are delusional and their delusional arrogance has caused so much harm to not only consumers, but to (legitimate) marketing professionals and the marketing industry as a whole.

I dont even trust most sponsorships youtubers get (get your bag, but you're recommending a product you got paid to advertise, I dont immediately trust the product)

The thing is, people at the top burn out too. You never get to stop hustling in an MLM. The people who are losing money inevitably leave, the people who are making money but barely leave, the people who get stuck at the same level forever leave. You have to replace them. The beginning of seeing the light for me was seeing those top people dropping rank and trying to get it back year after year.

User generated content is any rando that posts on a platform. Has nothing to do with influencers specifically. It opposes that content to what is produced by companies, especially those that own said platforms. A news outlet for example owns their platform, produces the content, and more importantly, pays employees to do all that work. User generated content is just another way not to pay the little guy.

Perpetually repackaging the same techniques has nothing to do with attracting outside customers, and everything to do with attracting new associates, i.e. *internal* customers. This isn't her giving her downline a way to make a sales pitch; she is giving her downline a sales pitch, soothing their worries that they are doing something that they have heard from 'Aunt Karen' and 'Susie from high school' is wrong. They are trying to convince their own suckers that they aren't doing what they are really doing. Another isolation technique.
