My father left my mum and I when I was 1 y/o. They had just bought a house. She was a single parent with a mortgage and a divorce and severe depression. She’s my favourite person in the world. I never ever loved her less because she worked. My grandma looked after me a lot because she did have to work, but she still made time for me and she loved me so much. She worked but we went places, we watched tv together, we played. She knew me so well. I will never be able to repay her for the sacrifices she made, but I love her more than anything in this world. To imply that she didn’t “get to know me” because she worked outside of the house is an insult to single parents/working parents everywhere.

The only thing to consider is that mom being away from her children under 4 often or for longer periods of time causes attachment disorders and other mental health issues. These issues may appear right away or take until the child is fully developed (25) to show up. I understand that sometimes it can’t be helped but mom should do their best to be with there kids until the child is at least 4. This is not mom shaming, it’s the truth. Our kids struggle when we aren’t present.

What’s sad about the little kid getting their hair cut is that instead of being present in the moment and enjoying the experience, mom was busy on her phone hustling sales. A 9-5 mom could just turn off the phone and enjoy a special moment with their kiddo because they don’t have to work their hustle 24-7.

Exactly. How are you supposed to ‘know’ your child when you’re busy filming them? It’s like all the people who go to the Grand Canyon and spend the entire vacation taking pictures or ‘selfies’ (gag).

@@sharimI get your point, but the issue with the child and taking pictures on vacation are completely different. If I'm going to the Grand Canyon, I'm taking as many pictures as I can so I can look back on those moments. Sounds like you are miserable and have no memories.

While in college I left my student activity council over MLMs and shady companies. Young Living, Kirby Vac, CutCo, and 2 SmartCircle branches all paid to come to our career fair. We all voted no, but they offered to pay 3x the booth rent and the board overruled the student council. I left over it because I couldn't be apart of a council that could be bought off that was meant to protect students by giving us a voice. They didn't really give us a voice.

So as an alumni of the U, sponsoring BYU vs U games hosted on the U's campus is probably really lucrative for doTERRA. We call them "Holy War" games. BYU and The U are our top schools in the state, and the rivalry between the schools is HUGE. Holy War games basically get the entire state involved and aware of the games, especially football. If you want to reach a giant audience in Utah, the sponsoring Holy War games is one of the best ways to do so.

When I was young, my parents both worked and were away from home 12 hours a day, since that's when their business was in the early stages and they needed to do everything hands-on. My mother was consistently late picking me up from kindergarten. When I was old enough to go to school, I was sent to a Monday-Friday boarding school because my parents didn't get home early enough to pick me up. I was home on weekends, but even then rarely saw my parents because they were always busy with their business. Despite this, my mother knew everything about me then and knows everything about me now, even though I'm a 27-year-old adult. She's still the first person I go to for advice or when I need someone to talk to, even though I have plenty of good friends my age. It annoys me that these people are trying to convince people that you need to quit working and spend all your time watching your kids (and join an MLM to do that, of course /sarcasm) to be a good mom or to know your kid. You don't.

My mom started her own legitamate business when I was still in diapers and for 15 years was in the red/barely in the black with it. My dad had to compensate by working 10-12 hour days and then would come home and veg out. My mom traveled at least a week out of every month (gone day and night for over a week). But eventually, my mom started to make money and recently signed deals with UnitedHealthcare and Humana to work her services into insurance plans (reminiscence therapy). My dad now works for HER! I'll admit that there were times I maybe wasn't having every emotional need met but it was always obvious my parents loved me and it was incredibly inspiring to see my mom build her company up from nothing to what it is today. I feel like seeing my mom be a true business owner was more beneficial than if she'd stayed home with my brother and I.

Yeah, it's a really weird flex to say that you can "Spend all your time with your child" because you work an MLM, then it appears that the "spending all your time with your child" consists of filming all of this "time" and uploading it for content for your MLM. No thanks, I'll take my desk job while my kids are at school, then actually being present with them when they get home.

And was 1500 dollars in debt in product purchases ( I was so stupid) I told my upline "hay I'm not selling anymore because I need to get an actual job I need actual money. She said "this is why you need this opportunity. You aren't working hard enough. You should be working everyday. " I was shocked and pissed and got rid of everything and cut ties. I have worked since I was 15. I had just had a baby the month before, was a stay at home mom with post partum depression and I wanted to contribute to my household because again I have been working since I was 15. In regards to the third fail. Not knowing the ingredients or at least how to find them for people asking (if it's not easily available to customers), can be a problem. Especially if your product is food/personal care (like skin care). People have allergies or certain eating requirements and they need to know if they will have a problem healthwise with the product. He's essentially claiming the health of the customer isn't priority, recruiting is. That's indeed a HUGE red flag.

Wouldn't claiming they are gifting product as part of their sponsorship to help improve performance be a kind of health claim since it's not proven to help improve performance? I know it's not exactly the same but it feels similar enough to be borderline illegal if not outright.

Having 5+ credit cards and all declining, doesn't show integrity or determination, shows that she will do anything (even being scummy) to make a profit. If she is actually making any profit now, I sure hope she has paid off those MAXED OUT credit cards. So disturbing. I would love to see this person's profits, we're finding more and more people are out right lying about their success.

I work for a big marketing company and we just took on Herbalife as a client. You made a good point that they don’t have a marketing budget and the reps really do all of the marketing for them, but how/why in the world would Herbalife pay for a marketing like this? They’ve actually been spotlighted at our company wide meetings and are supposed to be a really big deal. Like apparently they’re going to make us a lot of money so people are spending a ton of time on the account. I just don’t understand and it feels icky to me.

Without reading into it, my guess for the high concentration of MLM within the LDS church is because of the amount of SAHM's. The women in that church would stay home to raise the children. In fact I believe they say that a LDS woman's lot in life is to get married, have babies & take care of the home So they probably see MLM's as a perfect way to bring in extra income while still staying at home

I just wanted to thank you as a member of the LDS church for being so respectful and using the correct terminology. There is so much judgment in the world about these communities especially since there is so much overlap between the religion and the MLM's. I have a friend whose uncle was a rep for Doterra, and that loyalty has also dripped down to my friend and his family. My friend has had issues with recognizing mental health issues and can sometimes be very ableist. He has never been really pushy about me using the products but it's experiences like those who can bring a bad name to all members of the LDS church.
