Can't agree more - game is great! And now it is indeed finished. Which was not true when it was launched 😄

@@MLMariss you could play act 3 and beat the game and not every player had that bugged experience, it was for some PCs. And it was fixed pretty quickly after, with the first patch, and most people didn't even get that far until after it was fixed anyways.

I hear you and agree it was possible, but the situation is like (random example) when from 5 people 1 is robbed, you say but the majority wasn't (which is true) so there is no crime at all - and to that statement I cannot agree. The game is great and it was pushed out too early - both of these statements can be true at the same time.

@@MLMariss if it was as high as 1 out of 5, it wouldn't have done so well... The game was complete and had many endings, some people's PCs had lagging issues in Act 3. Some PCs lagging in Act 3 doesn't mean the game wasn't finished... They added extras to the game later... For free... Because people asked nonstop for more...

Sure, people will always want more, that is infinite loop indeed! I'm just having trouble to see what would be downside if they stick to original release date in your opinion? If you stick to the scenario where this is the best possible outcome of the game release, where would be an issue/problem with the game coming out without those bugs and issues? Just exercising phylosipical question about 'what if' scenario :)

For the people saying this game is "finished"... if buggy mess, huge areas of Act 3 cut last minute, and many companion story arcs gutted counts as "finished"... then I guess so. I'm old enough to remember what actual finished games feel like. People think BG3 is a masterpiece because compared to other triple A games it's more "finished"... but it's still an example of what happens when the dev team rushes the product out the door before it's ready. Problem is Larian has now abandoned it. Couldn't be more disappointed.

Thank you for strength and courage to voice it! It feels like majority vote always 'wins' and us hitting those bugs just doesn't count. At the end player base was testers also in this case, here just the base game was very good and most gamers didn't mind the 'cake being backed while we are eating it from other side' :D

Look, they could have left it as it was at launch and it still would have been an amazing game. Larian does it all the time though, patching a lot after release and then in a year or so putting out definitive edition. It's ok, I don't see much of a problem

You know that we both agree - after release support is important and we are thankful for that! But also in the first month of release pretty big portion of fan base (me included) got to the act 2 and 3 where a lot of game breaking bugs where because of lack of time and polish. Colleague of mine (big Baldur's Gate fan) today casually mentioned that finally he finished the game last weekend :D With that kind of speed - I bet he found zero bugs as they have been ironed out before he got to the point. :D

@@MLMariss From my anecdotal experience there were no game breaking bugs, but I have to say that I heard it from other people, who played from the launch, I myself started playing at patch 4, only ever encountered smallest of bugs that are fixed by save/reload or just ignored. Sure, there must have been more serious bugs at launch, but a lot of people were finishing the game alright and I never heard from anyone I know about breaking their saves or being unable to finish the game. Maybe we apply different standard to what game breaking bug is, idk. I'm from an era of BG, Planescape: Torment and Fallout, there were bugs alright, and BG3 launched in similar shape to those classics, and then became only better :-)

Totally understandable and the overall experience..well we can see the Steam rating of the game ;) But we can agree that First release and Patch 4 will not be the same game and experience.. The gamebreaking bugs where in the choices you make - you could easily get around them if you did any other branching in the acts, so even in the first month there was a way to finish the game without them! Just saying - it could've been better :)

The Sarfield release caused alot more than just patches! Data miners found cut content for the upper city of Baldur's Gate and Avernus. Karlach, Wyll and Minthara had quests in the upper city. There was a quest in Act 3 upper city where Minthara gets pregnant.

If you are picking up games half year later when it's actually finished AND polished AND with discounts (preferably) then you are right. But without these preconditions and additional 'rules' the case is not so cut and dry. Also not a click-bait, despite our different opinions all of this is factual - no matter if someone agrees to see it as a problem where others say that's fine and all is good.

What problem are you trying to make? The game is fully released. Starfield started out as trash, and is still trash today. Bg3 is a masterpiece, and will become even better now that mods are officially out.

I'm revisiting BG3 launch time and decisions that was made there, not making any problems :D Masterpiece or no masterpiece the launch change and faster release did no good to the game, there would be no harm or even more benefits releasing it on the 31st August or even better - a month further, when Starfield flopped.

I am one of 4% with negative review on this game. Because when I was playing It it wasn't ready. I bought "finished product" on release day and played until I reached act 3 (Baldurs Gate). Unoptimized, buggy, mess. I don't understand why people are ok with games being released unfinished. At least Larian worked hard to fix that mess. Maybe someday I give this game another chance, but like MLMariss said - this game is very long, so it's quite big time investment. Time I felt wasted on this game, when I was playing just after release. I think bigger problem here is that releasing unfinished games is common and acceptable practice. Basically players are free QA Engineers, reporting bugs and not taking any salary for it. So I will venture to say that Larian used high player numbers after release to find 2000 bugs and fix them. Without that It could take much longer. So releasing game month later doesn't mean that same amount of bugs would be fixed. It's ok for me if players want to participate and find bugs, help the game - that's why there is Early Access. It's not ok to sell Early Access game as finished product.

I think most people didn't get that far that fast. Their first patch fixed the 3rd act and I wasn't even that far yet to notice.

@krzysztofkalinowski2998 thank you for confirming this! Very well said. @ArkticDark of course we can brush it under the rugs, but we have seen too many great game developers turn 'to the dark side', and what else screams the 'wrong direction' if not selling unfinished game?

@@MLMariss In my opinion this is law/system problem. I can't get my money back If I encounter game-breaking bug (broken product) If I spend 4+ hours in the game (Steam policy). Only thing we can do Is drop negative review. So devs can create like 30-50h of content without bugs, that's when people start dropping positive reviews. Any negative review (like mine) will just disappear in this 'hype'. Positive review will get you more players, who will drop more positive reviews after ~30h and you are golden. Than just finish the game before most of player base will get there, and even if they get there game already paid off. The same was with Cyberpunk 2077 (which is now great game). Company of Heroes 3 was much worse... (and stomped by negative reviews). STAR WARS Jedi Survivor had huge performance issues (in later areas), some players reported it's unplayable. Warhammer 40k Rogue trader - unfinished later acts... Actually I think It would be easer to count not broken games because there is not many of them. Actually none comes to my mind. I miss old times when games were released with bugs that were actually mistakes to fix, not business decisions.

@@krzysztofkalinowski2998 I can connect to every word of yours! I can give you one..unpopular opinion: Sand Land! I haven't made video about it yet, but from start to finish - solid game, story and everything. Start and end, everything as it should. No DLC, no cut out content, not even patching it 4 hours after the release (at least I don't recall anything like that). There was no early access and I think also no pre-orders as far as I remember. Kind of enjoyed the game, despite little to no coverage from other channels and media.
