Kimbo Slice would be a good comparison of someone who had a reputation before going into MMA, though you got to see alot of his fights, of course. Personally, I prefer it the way it is, with the legend/myth of Haku. I'm pretty sure he would of had some losses, if he was in MMA.

@emilyanderson9559 How would he even get past his strikes to get that close? Even in grappling range - Fedor could ALSO bite - and being the better grappler means he would be the one in the better, more dominant position to actually employ that tactic (same with eye gouging). I'm not even saying Haku wasn't tough (compared to the average drunk in bar) - but that's the only guys he ever fought. Fedor beat elite, world champion, professional fighters... he didn't just bite drunks in bars. Now imagine if Fedor ALSO wanted to bite and eye gouge!

I'm sure Haku could get the odd win in an early UFC/Vale Tudo fight, but by his late 30's when it came around he was not in shape like guys like Dan Severn and Craig Pittman (Who competed in Vale Tudo while under contract with WCW) Were who competed and were around the same age as Haku. From UFC 1-4 I believe he could have beaten guys like Zane Frazier, Art Jimmerson, Robert Lucarelli, Ron van Clief, Joe Son, David Levicki, Fred Ettish, Scott Morris etc
@johnp77395 ай бұрын
I agree. Frazier had decent striking for an early fighter, but Haku would probably win if he was smart enough to take it to the ground, where he'd probably do GnP. However, no matter how tough you are, it won't help if you get caught in a submission, which guys like Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock might have done to him. Severn would've been tough with his wrestling. So would a young Tank Abbott, who was also very strong (like Haku) and was an All-American junior college wrestler, had a bit of boxing training and an experienced street fighter like Haku. Kimo would've been interesting as well.
@michaelhauser64405 ай бұрын
Dan Severn is a year older than Haku and wasn’t fast or athletic. He could wrestle and was probably strong but so was Haku. Haku could still move fast and fly around in the ring when he came back to WWF in 2001 so he definitely would’ve been just fine in the 90’s
@kevthegoat87745 ай бұрын
@@michaelhauser6440 Dan Severn wasn't athletic? Maybe you should look up his amateur wrestling accomplishments. Also in the mid 90's Haku wasn't at all, he was a lot slower and out of shape compared to what he was in the 80's. Severn clearly moves better and seems younger than Haku if you compare them wrestling in the 90's.
@kevthegoat87745 ай бұрын
@@johnp7739 Frazier's striking was decent but he would get sloppy and just somehow lose fights that he shouldn't. He should have never lost Cal Worsham who got his lung punctured from one kick from Frazier yet then Cal took him down and pounded him out! I remember seeing one fight where Frazier fought a guy he had 60+ pounds on, Frazier takes him down then gets beat due to ground and pound 🙄 No shame in his loss to Kevin Rosier though as that was an absolute war.

Eye gouging biting, grabbing balls, breaking fingers, grabbing the throat, etc. are very real, and stuff like that is why nobody though of grappling as the main way of fighting before the UFC. So it becomes about brute strength, size, athleticism, balance, and and hands, as everyone's intuitively knew before they were brainwashed by the Gracies. That being said, he might not have dominated MMA, though, if he somehow lacked some grappling skill. Seems like his hands were fast enough, we know he could kick, and I can't imaging him having a weak chin. Modern heavyweight division doesn't seem to be about submission skill as much anymore and is reverting back to size, strength, athleticism and hand speed again, as everyone's gotten pretty good at sub defense and the grappling pace isn't frenetic enough at that size for a bunch of sub openings to come up. Guys still get subbed, but it's usually because they're gassed or being physically overwhelmed rather than people getting Noguiera or Frank Mir type slick stuff.

One of my comments here was deleted/removed, so I will try again in a nicer way. First off, skimming through these comments, you get the feeling many of them are being written by one user with multiple KZbin usernames. You can tell by how similar/repetitive many of these comments are. It's obvious. Why would this one person do that? Seems to be a trend on a lot of these pro wrestling oriented video clips. They feel insulted and feel they need to reinforce a point with multiple fake usernames/profiles. Really? That's sad. Secondly, let's get realistic. Haku was (and probably can still fight, to an extent, today) a 100% legit street fighter who fights for his life, not to try to show off in front of misguided UFC fans. If Haku was in his 20's right now, he would dominate whatever weight class they put him in. He would be Champion of whatever weight class. Haku could crush people 300+ pounds. In a real fight, weight class means nothing. In a real fight, you can't tap out; you fight until one is unconscious. Haku would inflict so much damage that UFC would have to call paramedics to take Haku's fallen opponent to the hospital OR at the very least Haku's opponent would require unprecedented surgical repair in a hospital. The type of damage no UFC fighter in history has ever inflicted or endured. No UFC fighter (or other companies like UFC) is a master. In UFC/MMA history, there has never been a true assassin, a true killer. Haku, however, is a true master, a true assassin, a true killer. Haku may never admit it (because a true master doesn't brag or reveal the skills/techniques he has), but he is a master trained in a variety of fighting disciplines such as: Aikido, real Martial Arts striking, submission techniques. The Tongan Death Grip, for instance, is something no amateur (yes, all UFC fighters are amateurs) can prepare for. The Tongan Death Grip is probably illegal in UFC. The only way Haku would ever lose to an amateur UFC figther is if he disqualifies himself by using outlawed submission techniques or excessively attacks (UFC actually has a list of illegal places you can not strike on the body). Headbutting is probably illegal. Well, in a real pro martial arts fight, you can strike anywhere on the body (including places like the groin or spine or eyes or ears or back of the head). In fact, UFC is so weak that an amateur like Brock Lesnar joined and became a Champion. UFC fighters are incredibly overrated. If they ever allowed a killer assassin to join, such as Haku or Dan Spivey (rumors are Spivey not only had a boxing background but was some kind of hitman or debt collector before he joined pro wrestling), you would see what a real master can do and how outclassed every UFC fighter in its history would be. I don't know if there's some secret master out there who trained killers like Haku or Dan Spivey, but they have been trained to win fights fast in 30 seconds AND inflict incredible damage (such as facial bones sticking out of face after being struck with just a few strikes). No UFC amateur has ever been able to inflict this kind of damage. If these UFC fighters can't do this, they should at least try to master lock-and-hold Aikido techniques. Another good example is Badd Karma from Fight Zone (back in the 90's). He was another master who would obliterate any fighter in UFC history. Obviously he was a master of many disciplines but his Aikido mastery allowed him to defend against any opponent (no matter what weight class). Never underestimate what a real master can do. Many UFC fighters spend 80% of the match grappling on the ground. Well, for example, a UFC fighter who tries to take down someone like Dan Spivey to the ground to wrestle will immediately get his face punched off forcing the ref to call the fight as TKO victory for Spivey.

Every Haku fight story I've heard revolves around someone disrespecting someone and Haku standing up for himself or someone else. That set up isn't always there in professional fights and when it wasn't there I don't think the full Haku warrior would be there either. He seems to get legitimately triggered by rude behavior or what he perceives as being unfair treatment of someone. In those moments he knows no fear, only determination. I think he will always be that guy no matter how old he gets. My Grandfather was like that. Had 20% of his lung capacity, due to emphysema and asbestosis, and when he woke up in the ICU and found out he was there because a doctor had given him a medicine with the potential side effect, "may cause shortness of breath", he got up out of his hospital bed and went after that doctor. Said he was trying to kill him before he could kill anyone else.

Point number one - MMA skills do not often fail in the street. Bullshit statement. Point number two - You, like all the Haku fanboys, are making these huge statements about him being an unstoppable street fighter because he was known for beating up big-mouth, drunk idiots in bars. None of you have even seen it, but you believe the stories spun by other pro wrestlers. Cause, you know, those guys would never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

@@TobiasSmith-u9b I have grave doubts that Abbot was anywhere near the great street fighter he claims to be,all there is to go on is a highly questionable legend beginning with him saying he has been in 200 street fights let alone 100 which is just not plausible. It doesn’t matter what bad neighbourhoods you are in,you aren’t getting in that many fights unless you go looking for it and you are picking ur targets and situation. Sounds like he was picking blokes he saw as thinking they were good cos they were actually in good shape and were having a good time with friends and he wanted to make a tough image for himself,he had terrible hands just look at the Matua KO,who was actually a big slob in a tshirt won 1 fight out of about 6 and was stopped every other time. At the very least Haku was a lot more athletic and in shape than Matua,could move throw kicks and wrestle but i’m not under the illusion he was any great street fighter either no doubt he would be most average men but that doesn’t make him a real tough street fighter,if you have to go to the point of what his much vaunted storey says of ripping eyeballs out🤣 how great could he actually be? if anyone is that good they don’t need to go to that level they end it quick with punches.
