My favorite moment of his was when he fought Masvidal the second time. He knocked Masvidal out and then followed up with a few punches on the ground until the referee stopped him. When he was asked about it after the fight he said those shots were "super necessary" (in reference to Masvidal's answer to why he kept punching a CLEARLY unconscious Ben Askren in the face). Had me dying 😂

Man, the disrespect that Leon gets is ridiculous. He's honestly one of the most technically astute all-round fighters in the UFC. Keep in mind that, in Usman v Edwards 2, they were fighting at altitude, something that Usman is used to but Edwards isn't. Edwards won the first round and looked sharp early on, but you could see how he was struggling with it. And even then, he still had enough in him to pull off one of the best head kick KOs ever in the UFC. If his take down defence is as good as it was in the Usman trilogy (it could be even better), then I think Colby is gonna struggle with the level of Leon's striking.

I know alot of people and fans may not see It, but I think Wonderboys got the most logical take on the fight that I've seen from any fighter predicting Leon vs Colby so far. That's as unbiased as possible and probably would be the most realistic outcome out of all that I've seen from any Pro picking these fights. People forget, but Wonderboy precisely predicted how Leon would KO Usman with his signature head-kick In their 2nd fight, when he pinpointed that Usman has a tendency to duck his head towards an opponent rather than moving away or blocking/parrying, which leaved him exposed to getting caught the way he did. And like Wonderboy has pointed out If he were to ever fight Colby, he would work the body and Kamaru Usman did a good job In doing just that In working the body of Colby with those hooks he was digging In (which everytime he did, Colby would drop his hands more), before he finished him. And everytime he would get the better of Colby In the striking exchanges each time he did this. Leon will do the same, with the only difference being that he'll be willing mix In the kicks with his great Muay Thai, and set up the kick with his hands alot more than Usman, to make Colbys relentless pace not as effective as the fight goes on. Usman doesn't kick alot In his fights, and his kicks In general aren't the most polished, and anywhere near as fast as a striker like Leons at least. He may hit harder, but he doesn't have anywhere near as much as precision. Even though Colby does push the pace, however he doesn't have a high striking accuracy (lower than Usman), he doesn't have as good of boxing, shorter reach, and also no power of chinning Leon on the feet. This will make Leon will be more aggressive, which will only make It harder for Colby to adjust since he needs the fear of the TD to set up his striking, but with Leon he won't get the time of day to do so. Colby might be a technically better wrestler than Usman, but he's also smaller and not nearly as strong which was proved In the Usman fight where when he's faced against a fighter with a size advantage him with good TDD he struggles to hold them down (He went 0-11 In his TDs against Usman and only could only Usman down for 5 secs, before he got back up), Leon has the size advantage here, and he's not going to get bullied. I predict a nearly 36 year old Covington to come charging in recklessly trying to push the high pace as usual, then gets tied up in the clinch, and be brutalized by knees and elbows. Fair to say, Leon could get tired, but for a fighter like Colby to weaponize pace the way he does, Leon will have to just worry about that, that's It. And this will only make Leon stay on top of It more as the fight goes on, and the more he does that the more Colbys chances dwindle. Colby has the ability to stay In his face for a good while, but he just doesn't have the strength, power, striking, or the offensive output to keep Leon guessing long enough to win or make him tentative to implement his gameplan. Which Is exactly why I got Rocky getting the win here via 49-46 majority decision victory, retaining his WW strap!

I don’t agree with your assessment: Colby’s suffocating pressure will be too much to handle for Leon imo. It’s the style to beat someone like Leon. It’s a classic wrestler vs striker matchup, the threat of the takedown will open up the hands for Colby. Usman really should still be the champion right now if he didn’t get complacent in their second fight, he wanted to show off instead of doing what was working the whole fight (wrestling) and got headkicked into outer space. I take nothing away for Leon it was a beautiful kick : but I do believe Colby won’t get complacent and he will keep the pressure on the whole fight. Leon has shown chinks in his armour. Nate Diaz pressured Leon their whole fight, and Leon looked bewildered in that fifth round and almost got finished, he was gassed. I got Colby via decision or via verbal tap. Colby has a fighting style that just makes guys not wanna be there, he’s in your face nonstop, similar to khabib, he shoots over and over again. Leon is gonna be too worried about the takedown to get going offensively, I believe he’ll be on the defensive all night, fending off takedowns and awkward strikes from a guy that won’t slow down. Leon does very well when he can play his game- sit at distance throw his kicks - use his jab. Colby is not gonna play that tit for tat striking game the best striker in the division.

Call me crazy, but I'll never believe in this Colby and Jorge beef. I'm telling you all they are faking it. Just think of it. Characters of Colby and Jorge are just perfect together to pull that off and both of them profited in some ways out of their beef. Who ever won their fight would've get a third shot at belt easily.
