Alvarez is on point with his assessment. The money, fame, & surrounding himself with “yes men” hasn’t done him any favours. He isn’t being challenged in the way he was when he came up from social assistance cheques. What Eddie said is exactly what Conor needs he needs to sit back and realize he isn’t the fighter he use to be and it’s because he hasn’t stayed active, also because he doesn’t need to fight. But if he wants to compete he has to take away a lot of the luxury’s he has around him he must find away to put himself in the same place mentally he was when he was beating all of those guys. And then he needs to come back and have a couple fights with guys that aren’t top 5 fighters so he can get himself back into the rythem of the chaos because his last two performances have shown up not that he has softened over time

But. One can make the argument how silly and unintelligent that is. Cause not only are you RISKING further injury that may ruin the rest of your career and put you in retirement, your also setting yourself up for failure in the cage. He was going up against Dustin, a phenomenal fighter in the pros not some amateur league he’s up against the best, and Dustin beat him the last time. So it’d be much smarter to wait for an injury to heal rather than act like on some silly pride.

Mcgregor has done what any other past, current, and future UFC fighter would love to accomplish in just a short time period. The fame, the money, the star power he’s done it all. Coming from nothing to marking his name as one of the most successful athletes the sport has ever seen. Now aside from Conor the fighter is Conor the regular human being. One has earned respect and the other has completely lost it. He has truly embraced the role of the villain. I don’t really like the way this Conor portrays himself and it may be just business, but keep it one on one, no need to involve family and loved ones. Let’s see if he’s still got what it takes to be the Mcgregor he’s so desperately trying to revive.

He was placed on top he didnt earn it and he couldnt keep it very long lol. Khabib exposed conor for being a fraud and now people like you that still like him have to turn the focus to his fame and money but this is about being the best fighter not the richest clown or all these liberal movie stars would be the top ufc fighters. Dont make excuses for a hasbin that was never even that good in his prime. He might be the worst fighter to ever have a belt and for sure 2. Conor’s hunger and competitive fire was never questioned. For REAL fighters who truly are competitors, the pride, respect and the legacy that comes from becoming a legendary champion and world-class MMA artist are what fuels their hunger…and so money, fame, women, etc don’t satisfy it. Only being dominant and having the respect of all others can satisfy true warriors. Conor was hungry. He was hungry for money, fame and recognition. He got it and was immediately done for all intensive purposes. He can never be spoken of in any legit discussion about all time greats for this reason.

Yeah, but Jon Jones aint exactly poor you know? I'm sure kamaru is making millions and the dude is dominating people. You dont have to live in someone's basement to be good. But does it ever look like Connor is out of shape when he fights? He always makes weight, he looks phenomenal physically. I dont think he doesn’t train hard. Maybe its about more than that. Maybe the sport's just moved on and the very best guys in the world are just better now and his tools just arent good enough. He didnt gas against Dustin he just got fucked up, in both fights, standing and grappling. Maybe the reality is that, no matter how hard he trains, no matter how much money and luxury he gives up, Dustin just has his number. Same with Khabib. Maybe he is the same old Connor and nothing’s changed, except the other guys are just better. DC was right I think. We are comparing Connor to the very, very best guys in the best division. We need to see him fight someone else in the top 5 to gauge where he is really at. Chandler and Gaethje probably fuck Connor up bad, but it would be a good test to see where he is really at. Maybe Tony, but I think RDA would be a great fight. They were supposed to fight. If he beats a Tony or an RDA then I think we can all ease up on the guy a bit.

McGregor on the other hand is worth 100s of millions. He could sit on his yacht for the rest of his days. No person with that amount of money can be as truly motivated as a person who hasn't got there future financial well being catered for. It's huge difference, as Alot if these guys are fighting to feed families etc.

@@robertpirsig5011 mate, this isn’t really the point. The OP wasn’t even talking about whether fighter pay is fair, he was saying that the reason Conor isn’t performing like he used to is because he’s rich now. Personally I don’t think that’s the reason. UFC fighter pay is bad compared to other major sports, but the elite still live a lifestyle that’s unimaginable to most people. For just one fight against Conor dustin had a base salary of $1 million, plus PPV points. That is a heap of money, life changing money. He might make $5 mil in 12 months, and he isn’t even the champion. When DC first signed with the UFC he was making around $500k a year, not including bonuses. These guys, the best of the best, they aren’t struggling for money dude. That isn’t what drives them. I’m not saying they aren’t worth more than they get, but don’t pretend they are poor. Not the unranked guys, but the elite. They can make over a million a fight. Jones probably can retire today, he’s only had to fight 3 times in 3 years and he still drives a Bentley.

come back? he was never really that good. He won a few fights with nobody's got lucky on Aldo, probably a fluke and then got a free win to Diaz. Count the rounds, Nate won more but conor was the cash cow at the time. Conor was a fraud and Khabib exposed him, had he not been Irish he woulda never got love or success like he did because it wasnt talent in the cage. I think he might be one of the worst fighters to ever have a belt.

Sure hes a great promoter but I can't respect his way of promotion, you can diss the fighter and I support some trash talk about the figter himself and his fighting style, but brining it outside of the sport (famlily, religion...) is just wrong and stupid. I don't agree with Jon Jones when he says "I love what hes doing for the sport" because sure he brings it a lot of promotion probably even more than anyone, but the way he does it puts a bad light on the sport and people from the outside who don't watch much probably just think its a bunch of toxic assholes like himself.

going by the fact that conor was the original ufc experiment alongside rhonda (the marketing drive experiments) and he was always fasttracked into fights he had not earned, put with that a pinch of good luck ( aldo) and we get an overhyped, underperforming guy that continues living off the past.

He didn't earn the fw title shot? He beat max Dustin chad Mendes Wtf you mean by luck in beating Aldo? That's just delusional man , Aldo isn't a bum that can be beaten by luck He was a beast in his prime , ruled the fw devision and beat Eddie for the lw title Later he lost his prime and became irrelevant lol
