The only thing worse then the sychophantic, uber casual, Conor "fan" is the one who refuses to acknowledge the impact he's had on the sport. I'm no particular fan of Conor, nor do I view him as one of the greatest fighters in this sports history. However, I'm fully willing to give credit where it's due. Conor will undoubtedly be remembered as, quite possibly, the most polarizing figure in UFC history. He was able to captivate an audience that may have never associated itself with MMA. He's brought eyes to the sport, has attained a level of success once thought unattainable. You don't have to like the guy to appreciate his contributions. Sorry so long winded. Just rambling.

Absolute spot on. It makes too much sense. Which is why I've always wondered, with regards to Conor's team, because, everyone on his team did their part during their time of greatness, including McGregor. Was there not SOMEBODY grabbin him by the collar and goin, "hey dude, let's not forget where we came from", considering most his whole team are from Ireland. And snap him back into reality. It took no genius to realize his cheese slid off his cracker.

We all eventually fail though. Even the greatest at any given thing. It's the never dying strive for greatness that is commendable in human nature for it is strength in its true form. But to maintain character and class once that greatness image has formed for yourself is absolutely the hard part. That's probably what's remembered when it's all said an done. Do you become a don of a given sport or a has been.
