The BMF title was phrase that Nate Diaz came up with during an interview. as I recall, he was asked about wanting the title and being champion or something like this and he basically responded by saying, screw the UFC, he already is a champion, and that he holds the “BMF” title. UFC took notice of the reaction he got from that statement so Nates take was that UFC snatched the idea, ran with it and never gave him credit, pretty much true, lol.

To start its such a WWE thing, Reminds me of the Million dollar man calling himself the million dollar champion, then makes his own belt. Then the fact the whole thing grew out of a soundbite from Nate and the thought of UFC execs getting together and putting the gimmick together without Nate is messed up and funny. Kind of like if a friend told you how he got screwed after buying something from a sketchy website. You laugh at him but at the same time you feel for him.

As soon as Norm agreed to quit, they showed that Norm had been right all along and would've picked the correct answer if Regis hadn't interfered.

Out of all the nonsense in MMA, this makes perfect sense. The billionaires are seeking a primal thrill to feel human again, while at the same time being hated by a significant portion of the population. It puts butts in the seats. Those who struggle to stay in the roster need to make a name and make fans want to see them, which is always a problem in combat sports.

I've been a UFC fan since the tournament style / rent the shows on DVD because you can't find it on DVD days. For the most part Zuffa and Dana have brought positive changes to the sport. If they do add power slap to UFC cards (and man I hope they don't) hopefully its just for a short time and then they get rid of it. When that happens I can look back on power slap and shake my head with disbelief, just like I do when I'm watching a card with the "born to fight yeah born to fight" or "Face The Pain" song on haha

Biggest gimmick in ufc history was calling conner a double champ. Dana literally changed the rules just for mcgregor, so he could pretend that he was the first fighter to hold two belts. Plenty of other fighters were double champs but dana realized mcgregor was a fraud and had to create a fake accolade for him. Now that i think about it, mcgregors entire career may have been the biggest gimmick in ufc history.
