A "bad night" by a judge can change a fighter's life forever, it's unbearable to see the same judges make several mistakes over the years and keep their jobs.

That's just it, "a bad night" insinuates a single mess up, but time and time again the same judges make the same bad calls and are rarely (if ever) held accountable. Adelaide Bird is always my go to, she's clearly got backroom-mobster type connections with the crooked Boxing AND Mma cards she's routinely turned in.

I’m a licensed mma judge in the state of Missouri. The judging is as bad as fans yhink on one hand and on the other, it’s not as bad as they think. @@pcprinciple3774 Problem being the 10 point must system can make that deceptive, especially when it comes to grappling. Based on the way fights are scored currently, a basically even round with a knockdown for fighter A in the last 30 second, probably means a 10-8 for fighter A. But if in round 2, fighter B scores a takedown at the beginning of the round, keeps working and let's say alternates between side control and full mount for the next 4:30 of the round, most judges score that 10-9.

NO referee would have stopped that fight as Olivera was never in trouble. That big punch that had the crowd go "WOOOOAH" completely missed and Olivera went down for an ankle pick. It didn't work and Chandler rained down some punches and the round ended. Go watch that fight again and check the replay they show right after the first round. I recently stepped into their shoes and judged my first mma event. It was a card with a couple amateur fights but mostly pro including a former ufc fighter. And it definitely is a lot harder when you sit there cage side. When you watch on tv you see every angle perfectly which you don’t cage side. You can’t see every shot that lands, or every takedown. I even missed a knockdown because it was right in my blind spot. You also don’t see statistics or hear other people’s opinions on the round (for example a commentator) Ultimately everything went good, and nobody had a problem with a single scorecard, but it definitely is a whole new experience from just watching on tv

Sal on Oliveira v Chandler was a perfect example on how the judging system is just too much of a mathematical breakdown to way too many variables. The best way for them to judge would be still giving the winner 10 points, but giving the loser of the round x-9 points based on how they did against the winner, so it becomes more solely judging the loser of the rounds overall performance in those categories. Use the current system just to decide the round winner. I already know it has a possible side-effect of more lopsided scores, it isn't perfect. It is a place to start atleast.
